I hope you guys are enjoying this series as much as I am, because I don’t foresee it going away any time soon, especially with all the great guests we’ve had so far. And today is another list from a really super blogger and writer, Darlene Foster. I know you’ll enjoy it, so let’s get started. Take it away, Darlene!
(NOTE: Just heard from Darlene, who is traveling and can’t respond right now. She said she’s enjoyed reading all your comments and will be responding herself as soon as she’s home. That gal DOES do some serious traveling, as mentioned in her Ten Things List. 😁)
Ten Things You May Not Know About Me
by Darlene Foster
- I’m very short, barely graze 5 feet. What I lack in height, I make up for in enthusiasm and determination.
- I have worn glasses since I was in grade three. I feel naked without them.
- I can’t swim, play the piano, milk a cow, or type. (perhaps all these things require the same chromosome) I have taken lessons to no avail, and drove my dad crazy when he tried to teach me to milk a cow.
- My favourite movie is Doctor Zhivago.
- My favourite book is Lucy Maude Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables.
- I love shoes, books, animals, books, most people, books and chocolate.
- I enjoy cooking and baking and love trying different recipes.
- My middle name is Dale, after Dale Evans.
- I have ridden on the back of a motorcycle over much of Canada, The United States, England and Wales.
- I have explored the west coast of British Columbia and Washington State by boat, visiting most of the San Juan and Gulf Islands and venturing as far north as Desolation Sound.

I am very impressed with the motor cycle adventures and have to confess to only being on the back of a motor cycle once and if I had known how that boy was going to drive a car when he got his car licence a few months later I would have realised it was such fun because it was dangerous! New next door neighbours have a collection of super bikes and have offered a lift post Covid.

I’ve only been on the back of a SCOOTER once, and that was enough of that. Never had the nerve to get on an actual cycle! Eeeep. You guys are brave souls! 😀

I also had my first ride on the back of my brother’s motorcycle and he was a terrible driver when he was young. Hubby is extremely safety conscious on the other hand. I hope you get that ride soon.

We share a lack of height, the need for glasses and a love of animals, chocolate and books including Anne of Green Gables. However, I’ve not travelled nearly as much nor ridden a motor bike apart from a terrifying short trip along a quiet road. This is a wonderful series and and I’m loving these snippets of information. Who needs to milk a cow when you have Darlene’s spirit of adventure! xx

I agree about Darlene’s spirit of adventure, for sure. Like you, she packs a LOT of “person” into a small space! 😀

Thanks so much. I seem to have done all right in spite of not knowing how to milk a cow! I might add, yea short people!!

The covers of your books are adorable, Darlene! I thought it odd that you would list “milk a cow” among the things you can’t do, since I figured most people can’t do that. Then, I realized you grew up on a ranch, and it clicked. LOL! I enjoyed learning about you today. Marcia, I love this series, so I’m happy it’s continuing. 🙂

Funny, I CAN milk a cow, though I never grew up on a ranch or a farm. Just a short visit once when I was little, but it proved instructive. I even learned how to send a squirt of milk toward the barn cats who were lined up waiting. 😀
So glad you’re enjoying these Ten Things posts, Yvette. I think they’re a lot of fun, too. I have no plans to stop, unless I run out of folks who want to take part. 😀

LOL! My mom said I wouldn’t make a very good farmer’s wife since I couldn’t milk a cow. I replied that I wouldn’t marry a farmer then. And I didn’t. I love this series too.

So glad you enjoyed Darlene’s list, Gwen. I did, too. And I’m with you on milking a cow. I was shown how to do that on a visit to a farm when I was about the same age as you were. I’m pretty sure I could still do it today, as well. 😁 Thanks for stopping by! 😀

When I was MUCH younger, I had a thing for shoes, especially high heels with ankle straps. I lost interest many years ago, and don’t even own a pair of high heels now. (Nor a dress or a skirt). And due to several foot surgeries, I couldn’t wear them if I wanted to. But I understand the draw. 😄
With both of you on the rest of #6, though. And glad you enjoyed Darlene’s list, Sarah. (I was amazed by all the traveling she’s done!) Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a moment to comment, too! 😀 ❤

High heels and strappy shoes were cool when I was younger, too. Good for shaking that young bootie. 💃🎉 But, even then, I had what I needed–not a closet full to the brim with shoes.

I loved this. Darlene is such an interesting person, always exploring. In fact, I do believe she’s back here in Canada last I heard. Seems we have more in common than I thought! I could watch Dr. Zhivago another 30 times. But what surprised me was Darlene said she doesn’t type? With all her books, I find that fascinating. Pray tell Darlene? Lol Good fun Marsh! ❤

Somehow, I got stuck on the cow milking thing, and missed that typing bit. I can’t imagine writing even a short book without being able to type. Astonishing, really, isn’t it? When she returns from her trip and respond to the comments above, we’ll have to ask her more about that. 🤗
I’ve seen Dr. Zhivago several times in years gone by and read the book when it first came out. (Russian books can be a bit of a slog, btw, even with wonderfully devised stories.) The movie was beautiful. The music, too.
Glad you enjoyed Darlene’s list, Debby! Thanks for stopping by and taking a moment to comment. It’s greatly appreciated. 😀 ❤
