#GrannySays – #Wisdom, #Inspiration, #Humor

I know this to be a fact! I’d dreamed of being a writer all my life, and finally (at age 69) decided it was time to make that dream come true. Seven novels, three novellas, and a book of poetry later, I’m still going. If I can, YOU can! So dream your dream, then make it a reality! You can do it!

  1. Marcia, at 74, I entered a three-day novel writing contest this weekend. I was unsure if I would have the stamina next year. Wrote a 19000-word novella. It may not win but it was a feat. Keep on inspiring.

    • Woohooo, Bill! Now that’s the way to follow a dream. Here’s wishing you great success in the contest, but even without a prize, you are a winner. You DID it! That’s huge all by itself, and something I’ve never had the nerve to try. Yet. 😉 But you’ve inspired ME, now. Thanks for sharing! 😀

    • For sure, Darlene! We ROCK! 😁 And your Amanda series is proof of that! As I get back to my regular blogging routine, I hope you’ll visit us here and share some of what she’s getting up to. So glad you enjoyed the quote. It’s a good one, and I figured well worth reminding folks about. Thanks for stopping by! 😀

    • I’m so glad you enjoyed the quote, Annika, and thanks for the congratulations. I believe everything happens exactly when it’s supposed to, and this was my time to start putting words on paper and do what I’d always wanted to do. Hope you are also following your dream. (After all, there’s no law that says you have to wait as long as I did. 😁 ) Thanks for stopping by today, too. 😀

  2. I’m a late starter, too, and writing has brought me huge satisfaction and many new friends. That’s an impressive output of yours, Marcia, and I’ve bought and can verify the credentials of every one of your books so far. I’m ready for the next. ❤

    • I hope you’re counting me as one of those friends, Trish.😁 Just think of all the positive ways the internet has changed our lives. From making friends all over the world to being able to put our own books in front of readers! It’s a miracle, though of course, it can definitely have a down side. But for now at least, it’s made my life much richer, and, like you say, brought satisfaction and friends into my world.

And thank you for your kind words about my books. I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed them, and I’m ready to get back to work (slowly at first, perhaps) on my 4th Riverbend story. SO happy you’ll be along for the ride! And I’m eager to get my hands on YOUR latest, too. Thanks for stopping by! 😀

    • It’s an oldie and STILL a goodie, largely because while it’s true, so many people need to be reminded of it. I’m glad you like it, and will keep right on following your own dream! Thanks for stopping by, Jeanne! 😀

    • Thanks, Yvette! I’m glad you like this quote, and I hope you are busy following your dream. That’s the best thing about them … you are never too old, OR too YOUNG to start on that journey! 😊 Thanks for stopping by! 😀

    • Thanks, Mae, and I’m very glad you didn’t wait as long as I did before pursuing your dream! You’ve made huge inroads already and have the ability to keep on writing long after I finally “retire.” Yay, you!! Here’s to many, many successful books in your future, my Penderpal, and fellow Dresdenphile. And thanks for stopping by today, too. Have a great week! 😀

    • So glad you liked it, Jan. And yep it’s true that a dream can continue forever. But without us stepping up to the plate at some point, that’s all it will ever be, and that’s truly sad. My hope is that some folks will see this and finally take that step toward making their dream a reality.

Thanks so much for stopping by! 😀

    • Glad you like it, Sue. It has kind of become my mantra these days, even if my goal lately was beating COVID into smithereens, and coming back swinging! 😁

Thanks so much for stopping by today, and keep on following your own dreams, even if you did get a much earlier start than I. Still … dreams are what keep us going, right? 😀

    • I agree. It’s been around a long time, but I think it’s one of those things we need to be reminded of now and then. Glad you agree with the wisdom behind the words, Joan, and thanks so much for stopping by! 😀

    • It’s a saying that’s been around a long time, but I think it’s a truth we all need to be reminded of occasionally. Glad you enjoyed it, Vali, and thanks for stopping by! 😀

    • Aw, that’s so nice of you to say, Gwen. I just really enjoy reminding people of what they CAN do, if they want to, even as they age. (Goodness knows there are already plenty of folks out there happy to tell you what you CAN’T do!) I’d rather say “dream on, and then make those dreams come true!” 😊

YOU are an inspiration too, my friend, and don’t you forget it! 🤗 ❤

    • The important thing is that you did it. And good for you for not waiting quite as long as I did! 😁 Now you can inspire others for a long time to come. Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a moment to comment, Henhouselady! 😀 ❤

    • Start by setting a goal. Even a small one, no matter what it is. Decide to write a paragraph about your cat. Or what you did yesterday. Sit down and write it. Goal accomplished. Write one paragraph about whatever you like. Then, the next day, set a new goal. Write a longer paragraph. Keep gradually setting new goals, and before long, you’ll be writing stories.

Baby steps! That’s how we get from “here” to “there,” no matter what we’re trying to accomplish. Baby steps.

      Good luck!
