Woohooo! A Super Review for #TheLight

Got home and found the latest review for my new release, The Light: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 4, and it’s a humdinger! I just had to share it here, and hope you’ll help me get the word out by passing it along. I wasn’t able to set up a real blog tour, though I do hope to visit with a few of you over the next week or two, so sharing would be a big help, for sure. But meanwhile, just take a look at this:

Mae Clair
5.0 out of 5 stars A Heartwarming Mystery!
December 15, 2019
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase

I have read and enjoyed all of Marcia Meara’s Wake Robin Ridge books, but The Light, is quite possibly my favorite. Rabbit–a very special eleven-year-old boy who grew up in Appalachia, now the adopted son of Sarah and Mac–takes center stage yet again. Gifted with “the sight” which allows him to see future events as well as “read” others, he is wise beyond his years. An old soul who has a unique way of viewing the world, he has a folksy charm that resonates with every word he utters. Meara’s gift of writing him is exquisite, and despite numerous well-rounded and lovable characters, it’s Rabbit who steals the show.

I adore Mac and Sarah—mostly because of Rabbit’s pure-hearted love for them, and their utter devotion and fierce protective love for him. I’m enamored of several new characters who make their debut in this book—especially Austin—but once you meet Rabbit, you’re eternally smitten. No two ways about it. He’s a character who lingers long after you’ve read the last paragraph.

An added bonus is the inclusion of the Brown Mountain Lights, an unexplained phenomenon that has long fascinated me. Meara does an excellent job of weaving their appearance into a multi-layered plot which covers the gamut from high-brow society to misguided con artists.

If you like family stories with plenty of warmth, threads of the supernatural and folklore, plus a well-plotted mystery, don’t miss the latest in the Wake Robin Ridge Series. Five big glittery stars!

BLURB:

The Magic is Back!

For Robert MacKenzie Cole—or Rabbit, as he’s known to all—the chance to accompany his family to see North Carolina’s infamous Brown Mountain Lights has him nearly dizzy with excitement. And what better night to watch this unexplained phenomenon unfold than Halloween?

But when the entrancing, unpredictable lights show up, Rabbit gets far more than he bargained for. He’s gifted with what folks in the Appalachians call “the Sight,” and it’s this extrasensory perception that enables him to spot the one light different from all the rest.

In his biggest challenge to date, Rabbit—aided by his daddy and his newest friend, Austin Dupree— begins a quest to learn more about the mysterious light. Their investigation unveils a web of cons and corruption none of them expected and exposes a brutal murder along the way.

Throughout all, Rabbit is unfaltering in his commitment to do whatever it takes to understand the truth behind the glowing orb and to determine how he can help it. After all, it followed him home.

Author Marcia Meara

Marcia Meara lives in central Florida, just north of Orlando, with her husband of over thirty years, four big cats, and one small dachshund.

When not writing or blogging, she spends her time gardening, and enjoying the surprising amount of wildlife that manages to make a home in her suburban yard. She enjoys nature. Really, really enjoys it. All of it! Well, almost all of it, anyway. From birds, to furry critters, to her very favorites, snakes. The exception would be spiders, which she truly loathes, convinced that anything with eight hairy legs is surely up to no good. She does not, however, kill spiders anymore, since she knows they have their place in the world. Besides, her husband now handles her Arachnid Catch and Release Program, and she’s good with that.

Spiders aside, the one thing Marcia would like to tell each of her readers is that it’s never too late to make your dreams come true. If, at the age of 69, she could write and publish a book (and thus fulfill 64 years of longing to do that very thing), you can make your own dreams a reality, too. Go for it! What have you got to lose?

Marcia has published seven novels, two novellas, and one book of poetry to date, all of which are available on Amazon:

Wake-Robin Ridge
A Boy Named Rabbit: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 2
Harbinger: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 3
The Light: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 4

Swamp Ghosts: A Riverbend Novel
Finding Hunter: Riverbend Book 2
That Darkest Place: Riverbend Book 3

The Emissary: A Riverbend Spinoff Novella

    • I knooow!! It was such a happy surprise, and I’m tickled pink that Mae Clair enjoyed this one so much! Can’t wait to get the print version formatted and out there, too. That will be my focus all day tomorrow, I’m sure.

And thanks, Darlene! Always great to have you visit! 🙂 ❤

    • Thanks, Debby! I loved the review, too. (Who wouldn’t?) 🙂 And I’ll be eager to hear your thoughts when you read the series. I still have one more of yours to read, too, so I know it’s hard to get to all the books we amass! But one day, we’ll see what you think.l 😀 ❤

  1. What a pleasure to find my review of The Light, here. I’m so glad the review gave you something to smile about, as you gave me such a pleasurable and engaging story. I could see this one being easily made into a movie. Break out the popcorn, because I’d watch it over and over.
Just a spectacular story, Marcia. Take a bow! 🙂

    • The pleasure is mine, Mae! It was a super review and made me very happy. I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed the series, and have been smitten by Rabbit. 😀 And glad that The Light worked for you, too.

A movie, huh? Hmmm. Not so sure I’d trust Hollywood. After all, they cast 5’6″ Tom Cruise as the 6’5″ mountain of a man that is Jack Reacher, with no regard for age or description. Who would they cast as Rabbit? Thinking, thinking, thinking. Who’s hot out there right now? That’s who they’d grab for my soon-to-be-twelve mountain boy, even if the actor were twenty-five and had a Jersey accent. 😯 😯 😯

      *snort*

But I love that you think it’s that good! I’m pretty stoked! Or chuffed. Or exquisitely, deliriously happy! Whatever you prefer the sound of. 😀 I just know you made my week, and I sincerely hope everyone else enjoys The Light just as much. Thank you for every glittery star! ❤ ❤ ❤

    • Aw, thanks so much, Jaye! I hope you enjoy it! Rabbit is such a fun character to write, even though this book took me almost as long to finish as all the rest put together, thanks to Life’s Rude Interruptions. But Rabbit kept talking to me, and I kept writing down what he said about “this here ol’ light.” So between us, we got it done. Now to get the print version out there, too!

I’ll be eager to see what you think of this one. Hope you enjoy it! 🙂 ❤

    • Thanks, Harmony! I hope you’ll enjoy them. (Be gentle, though. WRR#1 was my first effort, and was going to be the ONLY book I wrote. I threw everything but the kitchen sink in that one, never dreaming it would get good reviews and I’d be writing more!)

I’ll be eager to see what you think when you’ve had a chance to check them out. 🙂 ❤

Hope you're ready for the holidays. I'm not. 😯 But I'm working on it. (In between formatting The Light for print and recovering from my mountain hikes! 😀 ❤ Merry Christmas! 🙂

    • Thanks so much, Mark! I was pretty happy to find it upon our return from our trip to Denver. I don’t usually post reviews of my own books here, unless it’s #ShareAReviewDay, which is set up mainly for other authors to promote their work–but I couldn’t resist! I have taken some time off from most of my blogging due to some health issues, but I’m planning to start up my regular features again.

Friday 1/3 will see a return of #FirstLineFriday, wherein you can test your knowledge of famous opening lines and win prizes. And the following Tuesday 1/7 will probably see the return of #ShareAReviewDay Tuesdays. Hope you’ll join us both by checking out the posts and by sharing your favorite or most recent review of your own books. (Full instructions in the black header bar at the top, under General Blogging Rules and Various Feature Instructions). We’d love to learn more about you and your work.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy New Year! 🙂
