All About #Google+ for #Writers…

Very interesting article on Google+ shared here. You might want to check it out! 🙂

Chris The Story Reading Ape's avatarChris The Story Reading Ape's Blog

Excerpt from an interesting article on SavvyBookWriters:

More than 625,000 People join Google+ EVERY DAY, according to Digital Buzz and Huffington Post statistics. Before I even joined Twitter, GooglePlus (Google+) was my first Social Media network of choice. I loved the beautiful images and videos that appeared on my timeline. And I am stealing a couple of minutes every day to scroll down and share, or at least place a “plus sign”, on interesting posts.

#1 Social Media for Professionals:

Participating on Google+ – also written GooglePlus – gives you an advantage at search engine results: your posts are automatically included in Google’s Search Engine. What better then combine social media networking and at the same time your visibility on the Internet! Google+ has now the title of being the world’s second largest social network. It’s a no-brainer to use the many benefits for authors and publishers. And don’t forget…

Calling Authors – Come and be interviewed

A possible opportunity for you good folks. Check out this chance to be interviewed about your writing.

Unknown's avatarDon Massenzio

InterviewBack in February I put out a plea to authors that might want to be interviewed on my site. A lot has happened since then. One thing is that the number of followers for my blog has grown exponentially. I attribute the popularity of these authors as one of the contributing factors for this growth.

As we wind our way through May, I am coming to the end of my scheduled interviews. Beginning May 16th, I will have openings in my schedule to interview additional authors.

I’ve learned a lot from the interviews conducted thus far and I will be making some changes going forward including adjusting my questions so that we can dig further into your work and your background and really give your readers and potential readers insight into what, how, and why you write.

It’s been a rewarding experience for me and I hope that it has…

#MidWeekPOV – Sometimes Fate Needs a Helping Hand #wwwblogs #Poetry

k22670325

I’m pretty sure I believe in Fate. Karma. What goes around, comes around. You reap what you sow. That kind of thing. At least I do today! And because I’m editing, editing, editing  like a thing possessed, here, I don’t have time for a very long post. Instead, I’m going to share a poem from Summer Magic, wherein a young lady takes matters into her own hands, in order to give Fate a wee, little nudge. Enjoy!

The Pick Up

Standing near the shop,
I watch.
People rush in and out,
Jostling, hurrying.
Carrying steaming cups
To offices nearby.

I wait for the right one.
Finally! He exits and
Heads toward me.
My heart stutters
With pleasure
As I admire him.
He’s tall, wide-shouldered,
Very blonde.
A Viking in Armani.
Yes, I think. Oh, yes.
He’s just as perfect as
He looked yesterday.

With careful timing,
I step into his path,
And we collide.
Oh! I’m so sorry!
He stops, surprised.
Then bends to pick up my purse.
Handing it back, he smiles.
My fault, he says.
I should have been paying attention.

We stand for a moment,
Assessing each other,
Then I laugh awkwardly,
And flash him a look
He can’t mistake.
His eyes widen slightly,
His smile, as well.
And I know.
He’ll be here tomorrow,
Ordering latte, and
Looking for me.
I’ll be waiting.

All Aboard the Naiad

I added a new photo to my Inspiration Board today. Nope, not a picture of anyone who inspires a particular character of mine, nor a scene that might lead to another story. Probably.  🙂

Instead, I added a photo of the wonderful group who joined me aboard the Naiad for a fantastic eco-tour of the St. John’s River, yesterday. This particular group was almost completely comprised of book lovers I’ve met at various events over the last six months, most of whom have read some, if not all, of my books. I asked myself today,  what could be more inspiring than these lovely people, who are already invested in my stories and characters ? Who else am I writing for if not these wonderful folks,  and others just like them?

So, voila! Here they are. Eighteen terrific folks–friends, now–who got to experience a St. Johns River Eco-Tour with Captain Jeanne Bell and Doug Little, and see some central Florida birds and wildlife. They were very attentive when I read the prologue from Harbinger, and I think at least some of them will be eagerly awaiting the latest book in the Wake-Robin Ridge series. Fingers crossed. I am blessed to call each of them a friend, now! And I am INSPIRED!

#StJohnsRiverEcoTour Tomorrow!

Off on a Meet the Author Eco-Tour, with a group of local readers tomorrow, aboard the Naiad. This is one of the most fun things I’ve been lucky enough to take part in. Captain Jeanne Bell and hubby, wildlife photographer Doug Little have been so supportive of me and my books, and these tours are just the best!

We might see these:

Swallow-tailed Kite

Or these:

Barred Owl

And certainly, these:

Baby Gators

But if we see one of THESE:

Florida Black Bear

…you’ll hear me hollerin’ all the way to wherever you are! (Still haven’t seen one in the wild, after all my many years of birding, hiking, and canoeing in Florida.)

Have a great Saturn’s Day, everyone, and I’ll check in with you when I return to civilization again! 🙂

#Proofreading – How Important Is It?

Spelling Concept

Of course, it’s very important–absolutely critical to producing a book that impresses readers as being professional. As independent writers, many of know just how quickly reviewers will pick up errors and typos, and then alert the media about same! Here is a link to a great interview that says it all better than I can. Check it out!
