Foxy Business and Brief Update

In answer to several questions I’ve received, yes, that is a fox in my current header. Why is it way up there in a tree? Because it is a gray fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus) as opposed to a red fox (Vulpes vulpes.) Yep, a whole different animal, and one that is very arboreal. In other words, unlike the red fox, it’s an excellent climber, and often naps in the treetops. Both foxes are native to North America, and I’ll be doing a future post on the differences between the two when I’m feeling well enough to get back to blogging again. (Look for it on #NotesFromTheRiver).

Good news: I’m feeling VASTLY better today than yesterday, though still not at 100%. Last night, for the first time in over 2 weeks, I was able to sleep without taking codeine-laced cough syrup. Thankfully! I hate that druggy feeling when I’m on that stuff. Bad news: As I say, I’m still not at 100%. But I finally feel like I’m on the way. I am still resting/napping throughout the day, so I’m not really “back” to my blogging and writing yet, which means a bit more delay in publishing That Darkest Place. But I don’t think it will be too much longer.

Hopefully this will be “out there” soon:

Thanks for all your support and well wishes. It’s lovely to be missed!

12 Crime Lab Tidbits

Taking Marica at her word. Here’s this week’s post at misterio press, which you all might find interesting.

12 Crime Lab Tidbits

by Vinnie Hansen

In March, I visited the Santa Clara Crime Lab because hey, that’s the kind of thing crime writers do on a lovely spring day.

My husband, Danny, went along. He enjoys police info, too. I guess you better if you’re married to a mystery author.

We were disappointed to learn that we would not be able to traipse about the lab. Even though the event was advertised as a “virtual” tour, when Danny and I visited the FBI Crime Lab in San Francisco, our guide led us right up to the line of weapons waiting for rifling tests.

Hope you feel better soon, Marcia!!!

More on Goodreads Giveaways

Hi all — A few months ago I announced that I was having a Goodreads Giveaway to promote my tween book, PAIRS AT NATIONALS.  Several people said they’d like to know if it helped with sales.  Unfortunately, it didn’t. You can find out more at my new blog post.      http://elizabethvollstadt.blogspot.com

Touching Base with a Quick Update

Just want to let you guys know that my uninvited “bug” is lingering much longer than I had hoped. While I am vastly improved over last week, I’m most definitely not back at 100% and my doctor keeps telling me rest is what I need most right now.

Apparently this is one mean, miserable cold/flu/bronchitis/pneumonia/vicious thingie, and shaking it takes a long time. With that in mind, I’m going to try to behave in a way that will make my doctor proud of me, and stay in bed (or at least bundled up in the comfy chair) for a few more days.

Don’t worry. I’m here, and keeping an eye on things via my iPhone, so if you need help, just give a holler. And those of you who are regular contributors to this blog, please feel free to post anything you’d like to share while I’m away. I’ll be back just as soon as possible, I promise!

Thanks!

#MeetTheAuthor Tea at #DeBaryHall

What a great group of ladies joined me yesterday for our tea and luncheon at DeBary Hall Historic Site! They were very forgiving of their heavily medicated and somewhat “croaky” hostess, and were an especially engaging group. Nothing like spending time with fellow readers! (It’s especially exciting when MY books are among the things they read, 😀 !)

Truly, they made the afternoon so much fun, I almost forgot how sick I’ve been. Loved meeting every single one of them, and hope they enjoyed themselves as much as I did!

My heartfelt thanks to DeBary Hall for giving us such a beautiful venue to hold these very special events, and to each of the lovely ladies who attended yesterday! Can’t wait to do it again, hopefully this fall.

Smorgasbord Book Promotion – Air Your Reviews – John W. Howell and Marcia Meara

What a lovely way to start the day. Sally Cronin has shared two book reviews today, one of which is for my first book, Wake-Robin Ridge. Janice Spina gave it a 5-star review, and I hope some of you will check it out, and share Sally’s post with your followers. THANKS!! (And my heartfelt thanks to Janice and Sally, also!)
