#Apologies fromMe and a Big #ThankYou from #Michael Thompson – #CommonplaceFunFacts

Yesterday, The Write Stuff featured a terrific blogger (Michael Thompson) and his fantastic blog, CommonplaceFunFacts. I’d like to thank everyone who posted and to apologize for the problem Michael ran into with trying to respond to comments, or even to leave one of his own. For some reason, WordPress just wouldn’t let him do either.  I still haven’t figured out what the issue is, but please rest assured that all of your comments were greatly appreciated!

Michael would like to thank each of you for taking the time to comment and for the encouragement. He hopes you all enjoy your visits to CommonplaceFunFacts, and that you find it interesting enough to warrant return visits. (I’m wagering you will, as I know I sure did!)

In the meantime, I’m going to continue to try to solve this problem, as I’d very much like to have Michael join us again for future posts now and then, and I also want him to be able to comment on any and all posts on TWS, and to be able to respond to others who enjoy his visits.( Wish me luck in solving this issue!)

And thanks again for checking out both Michael’s wonderfully entertaining post yesterday, and his equally entertaining, informative, and fun blog, too! Be sure to visit when you get a chance. You’ll be glad you did!

#This&That&TheOther Thing – #ThankYou and #BlogBreakThursday

THIS

Just wanted to thank everyone who responded to Denise’s wonderful #TenThings post yesterday. I was unable to do so individually due to the sad loss of the last tree standing in our once-canopied front yard. More on that another time. Suffice it to say that 93 degree weather was not a very good time to be working for hours cleaning up after what happened.

THAT

Even though I’ve reduced my blogging time a bit as I catch up with everything we are trying to accomplish right now, I just want to remind folks that I’m still able to schedule guests for both #TenThingsYouMayNotKnowAboutMe and #GuestDayTuesday posts. Email me if you’re interested.

THE OTHER THING

It’s BLOG BREAK THURSDAY for me today, and for those of you who’ve asked about Rabbit (everyone’s favorite character), you’ll be happy to know that I really do have a spinoff novella trilogy in the works. I plan to use today to work non-stop on the first story. With any luck, Cole, Cole, & Dupree  will grow substantially by day’s end. In the meantime, here’s a first draft teaser for you:

“THOUGHT YOU NEEDED to see this, boss. Called as soon as I found ’em.”

“You were right to call, Kip. Any idea what the hell happened here?”

“Not a one. Never seen anything like it.”

Alvy Ballard moved his flashlight in a slow arc across the scene in front of him, as he struggled to make sense of all the darkened forms humped along the ground. With a look of dread in his eyes, he turned back to his foreman. “Big Red?”

“Big Red, too, boss. He’s over by the east fence.”

“Show me.”

The two men walked around the fence line, stopping to check each bloody body along the way. Alvy gave a slow, stunned shake of his head. “All dead. Every single one of them dead. What could have done something like this, Kip?”

“I got no idea. Every throat torn out. All ten horses, gone. It ain’t natural.”

When they neared the middle of the east fence line, Kip stopped and laid his hand on Alvy’s arm. “You sure you want to look at him?”

Alvy nodded. “I need to see for myself.”

Kip watched as his boss continued along the fence to where the body of his prize stallion lay. For a moment the big man stood staring in shock, then he dropped to his knees. Draping himself across his horse, Alvy Ballard wept like a child, shoulders shaking with loud, heartbroken sobs.

Kip knew his boss well enough to understand his need for privacy, so he remained where he was until Alvy stood, wiped his eyes, and returned.

“I still don’t understand what happened to them,” Alvy said, his voice husky with emotion.

“Me, neither, boss. For sure, it wasn’t no animal I’ve ever seen. Animals don’t kill ‘less they’re hungry. All them horses are dead, all right, but not a single one’s been eaten on.”

~~~
And on that note,
Enjoy your day, everyone!
I’ll be back tomorrow!
Thanks!
Just wanted to thank everyone for the wonderful response to my call for #GuestDayTuesday bloggers. All the spots are filled pretty much through the end of the year, so no rush to contact me right now. But I do intend to keep this series running for a long time, so if you have things you want to share come January, just get in touch with me a little bit later on.
Remember, this is not going to be as limited as #ShareAReviewDay was. You may still share reviews, of course, but also things such as new releases, promos, cover reveals, and posts on various subjects pertaining to writing and blogging. You can be creative in what you want to talk about, in other words. And each post will still carry your bio, book info, and links at the bottom.
Now I’m off to finish scheduling everyone who contacted me over the last week or so. I’m looking forward to having each of you visit. (Hopefully often! 🙂 )
Thank You!
Thank you so much for the wonderful and generous response you gave when I asked for help with my Emissary 2 cover reveal. I am overwhelmed that so many of you stepped up to volunteer to host a reveal post on your blogs! What a lovely group of friends and fellow writers we have here.
Because so many responded to my call, I have almost more posts lined up than I can handle, so no need for any more volunteers  at present. But please know that your generosity has touched my heart, and I consider myself unbelievably lucky to be part of our fabulous online writing and blogging community!
A Big Thank You, and a Little Poem
I just wanted to thank each of you for making this #ExcerptWeek the best one, yet. To those of you who shared your work with us, my heartfelt thanks. I loved reading every single excerpt, even when I got too swamped to comment. To those of you who shared what you read here, you are the heart and soul of what The Write Stuff is all about. I love each and every one of you, contributers and sharers alike. (And a double hug for those of you who were both!)
Thought I would share a little poem from Summer Magic, which I wrote after defying the odds and publishing my first book. Those of you who have followed me for a while will recognize it, but I hope you won’t mind reading again. If I have anything of import to give you all, it’s this little bit of life philosophy. Enjoy. (But take it to heart.)
Attitude Really Is Everything
No!
Yes.
You can’t!
I can.
Why?
Why not?
It’s all wrong!
It’s all right.
You shouldn’t!
I should.
You won’t!
I will.
It could be bad!
It could be good.
Its’ too late!
There’s still time.
You’re too old!
I’m still here.
You did it!
I did.
And with that, consider #ExcerptWeek wrapped up until next time! Hope you  all enjoyed it as much as I did.
#MeetTheAuthor Tea at #DeBaryHall
What a great group of ladies joined me yesterday for our tea and luncheon at DeBary Hall Historic Site! They were very forgiving of their heavily medicated and somewhat “croaky” hostess, and were an especially engaging group. Nothing like spending time with fellow readers! (It’s especially exciting when MY books are among the things they read, 😀 !)
Truly, they made the afternoon so much fun, I almost forgot how sick I’ve been. Loved meeting every single one of them, and hope they enjoyed themselves as much as I did!
My heartfelt thanks to DeBary Hall for giving us such a beautiful venue to hold these very special events, and to each of the lovely ladies who attended yesterday! Can’t wait to do it again, hopefully this fall.
