I interrupt Ned’s funny and yet disturbing post for a very special announcement. Okay, I might be hyping it up a bit more than it really is. It’s not like Marcia just won Megabucks or something, but I think she’ll like it just the same.

Marcia is an– Hey, how do I change the font? I can barely see what I’m typing here! Oh, wait…

Ahem. Like I was saying, Marcia is an inspirational woman. I didn’t realize just how inspirational until I read a recent interview she did, which you can find here. I’m not going to rehash the Q & A except to say that she has proven it’s never to late to chase your dreams. Her kind, gentle nature is one of the first things that draws people to her. Her sense of humor and generosity is what keeps ’em coming back for more.

To every writer who got the eye-roll when they told their parents they wanted to be a writer… Marcia proved it was possible.

To every writer who couldn’t find the courage to express themselves… Marcia showed them, ‘Yes, you can.’

To every writer who was afraid to share their words with the world… Marcia has shown them it’s okay to put yourself out there.

To every writer who feared the unknown… Marcia is a driving force that proves you can stand on your own in this crazy business of ours and end up stronger for the effort.

To every writer… Have a made my point yet?

I’m not telling you all this to blow smoke up Marcia’s skirt, (Ned, not one word!) I’ve nominated her for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. Wooohoooo! Finally, in spite of all kinds of obstacles in my way, I was able to upload A Boy Named Rabbit to Kindle last night, and it’s live and available for purchase today!! Those of you who have been asking when it would arrive…it’s here! Lots of launching bells and whistles have fallen by the wayside, due to my long bout with the flu, but no matter. Nothing can make me feel sad today! My third novel, the sequel to Wake-Robin Ridge is out!

If you are one of the ones who read Wake-Robin Ridge and asked if the sequel was coming, you’re in luck. Check it out here! If you haven’t yet read Wake-Robin Ridge, hang in there another day or two, and a boxed set with both books in it will be available at a special, discounted rate, so you can read Book 1 and Book 2 at once. 🙂

A Boy Named Rabbit is very dear to my heart, as it features an extraordinary little boy’s lonely journey through the wilderness on a quest to find the Good People. Rabbit was more fun to write than any character I’ve attempted so far, and his insights on the world (which he has been hidden away from for his entire life) vary from funny to surprisingly profound. I never knew what words were going to come out of Little Rabbit’s mouth until they fell off my fingers and onto the page.

Of course, there’s plenty of drama and danger involved, a few spills and chills, loads of worry from the ever angsty MacKenzie Cole, patient understanding and kindness from Sarah, and plenty of the kind of love only an adorable ten-year-old boy can inspire. Hope you’ll cheer for him, laugh with him, cry with him, and most of all, never, ever forget him.

Wake-Robins & Other Thoughts

Wake-Robin (Trillium erecta)

Several people have asked me about the flower on the cover of A Boy Named Rabbit and Wake-Robin Ridge. I thought you might like to see a photo or two. Aren’t they beautiful? The more common white trilliums of spring are lovely, too, but the wake-robin has captured my heart.

When I think of my springtime trips to the Blue Ridge Mountains, trillium and dainty bluebells are what come to my mind. And if you haven’t ever been to that part of the Appalachian chain (the oldest mountains in the world), you really owe it to yourself to go someday. Beautiful at any time of year, of course, but absolutely breathtaking in the autumn. Why…someone ought to write a book…or two…set there! 😉

A Boy Named Rabbit Cover Reveal!

Woohoo! I’m so excited to share the cover of my next book in the Wake-Robin Ridge series, A Boy Named Rabbit. As always, my cover GODDESS, Nicki Forde, has done exactly what I wanted with this one. All I had to do was say “waterfall” and “silhouette,” and she nailed it.

For those who aren’t familiar with Book 1 in this series, Wake-Robin Ridge, here’s a shot of that one, so you can see our intent with the series is to keep the same basic layout, and just change the middle image to something appropriate for each book. And thus, a bit of branding occurs. Hopefully. So what do you think? Do you like the new cover? Are we on the right track when you see the old one? (Oh, and for those who aren’t familiar with North Carolina wildflowers, a wake-robin is the red trillium on the cover, and the springtime bloom for which the ridge is named.)
