#StoryEmpire – #D.WallacePeach –

For whatever reason, I’m no longer able to post comments on Story Empire (and several other favorite blogs), so I’ve decided to go back to sharing their posts here when I can.  Today, D. Wallace Peach continues her excellent “Tightening Our Prose” series, with a post about dialog tags. She makes some great points, so I hope you’ll stop by and take a look, if you haven’t already done so.

Tightening Out Prose: Dialog Tags

Hope you enjoy the post as much as I did, and Diana, thanks so much for a very helpful series!

    • Well, now the only way I can comment on my OWN blog is by replying to the notification in my email. What in the world is going on?? And Vera, I have heard from several folks who are having the same problem. I’m signed in, as far as I can tell, and can find no other way to do so. Yet, I can only comment on a few blogs, and now can’t even do so on my OWN. I have no clue what’s going on.

Just checked to see if I can edit this comment, and it appears I can. Wanted to add that there is no longer a place at the bottom of the page to LOG IN to WordPress. Arrrrrggggggghhhhhhh.

  1. I’ve had problems, too, Marcia, and this one is asking me below to log in to leave a reply. It’s frustrating when something that worked fine before, doesn’t now! Good luck! ❤ ❤ ❤

    • It seems a lot of us are having trouble, Trish. I have no place visible for me to “Log In,” so that’s out, I guess. But it appears I can respond to the notification email to reply to each visitor’s comment. I do have to remember to delete all the book and blog info under my name in my emails. And once I respond via the email, I CAN edit it on the blog to add more if I want, so that will help until this can be figured out. At least you were able to log in, though, for which I’m grateful. I can’t even do that now. VERY frustrating!

  2. Thanks for sharing the post, Marcia, but what a huge pain in the arse! Sometimes, WP is so cranky and glitchy. I hope this too passes and you don’t have to jump through hoops to comment, even on your own blog. Arrgh. I hope you have a lovely day otherwise, my friend. Hugs.

    • It keeps telling me that, too, Jan, but there’s no Log In button anywhere. Happily, I discovered you can actually Reply to the email notification of a post, and it will show up as a comment. And you can EDIT the comment that shows up if you want to add more. Guess that’s what I’m stuck doing for now. And what’s wrong with WP that they aren’t fixing this?? It’s crazy and frustrating! Good luck with your issues. Will let you know if I figure out anything better than Reply via Email. 😀 ❤

  3. Trying something different. (Thank you, Joan) I’m ignoring that gray Reply button at the bottom of the comment field and typing anyway. What do you know? Up popped some Log in Buttons. Let’s see if they work!

  4. I’m betting that others are experiencing what I am. I frequently have to log on to many blogs (I just did here) that I didn’t have to do previously. Then when I type my comment, two WordPress notification boxes pop up, often covering the typing. I then have to start over. For whatever reason, the boxes don’t reappear the second time. It’s gotten quite cumbersome.

    • For me, the Reply button was grayed out and there was NO Log In button to be seen. I discovered I could get around that by simply hitting Reply on the Notification email from my Inbox. That worked, but was annoying. Then Joan Hall told me another trick. Even though the Reply box on my blog was grayed out, if I went ahead and started typing in it, it “came to life” and the Log In Button showed up. As soon as I clicked on it, the whole problem seemed to have gone away, even when visiting other blogs (Knock on wood). Try it and see if it gets you logged back in on the blogs you visit. Hope so! It’s been cumbersome, all right, and annoying as heck, so I’d like to think it’s over. Good luck! 😀 ❤

        • Sorry neither of those fixes work for you, Pete. They both work for me, and Joan’s trick of ignoring that the Reply box is grayed out and typing anyway works as quickly as it did before this all happened. It let me log in the first time I tried it, and I’m still logged in, so far. (Fingers crossed it continues to work.) Hope you can sort it out soon. 😀 ❤

  5. I’ve noticed that new comment box on some pages, and if you just click the log in button and select the WordPress logo on the left, your comment will post. It seems to be some new feature that WordPress decided, in their infinite wisdom, would be good to make for some reason.
