Hi, folks! It’s #TenThings day here once again, here on TWS, and today’s guest is author Jill Piscitello. Jill’s list is definitely a “to-the-point” compilation, which I expect will engender a lot of questions. With that possibility in mind, let’s get going. Jill, the floor is yours! Have fun! 😀
Thanks, Marcia!
- I love sushi, but not all sushi.
- I enjoy stacking items in online bags and buying nothing.
- I enjoy stalking clothing until the item reaches my desired price.
- I have an exceedingly difficult time finding pictures to hang in my home and have many bare walls.
- I love HGTV.
- Fall is my favorite season. I begin getting excited for sweaters and jeans by the end of July.
- In my house, the Christmas season begins November 1st. Possibly earlier if you ask my daughter.
- Motion sickness is no joke.
- I’m addicted to Blistex and reapply multiple times per day.
- I believe animals understand more human language than we give them credit for.
When murder provides a welcome distraction…
BLURB:
On the heels of a public, broken engagement, Maeve Cleary returns to her childhood home in Hampton Beach, NH. When a dead body turns up behind her mother’s music school, three old friends land on the suspect list. Licking her wounds soon takes a back seat to outrunning the paparazzi who spin into a frenzy, casting her in a cloud of suspicion. Maeve juggles her high school sweetheart, a cousin with a touch of clairvoyance, a no-nonsense detective, and an apologetic, two-timing ex-fiancé. Will the negative publicity impact business at the Music Box— the very place she’d hoped to make a fresh start?
EXCERPT:
With his mouth set in a grim line, he waited.
If anyone else had enough nerve to presume she owed them an explanation, she would respond with a solid mind your own business. Instead, the seventeen-year-old still inside her refused to tell him to get lost. “He was hiding money in his office.” This was one of those times when learning how to wait a few beats before blurting out inflammatory information would come in handy. Each second of passing silence decreased her ability to breathe in the confined space. She turned the ignition and switched on the air conditioner.
“How do you know?” His volume just above a whisper, each dragged-out word hung in the air.
“I found it.”
“When were you in his office?” He swiped at a bead of sweat trickling down the side of his face, then positioned a vent toward him.
“Last night.” When would she learn to bite her tongue? Finn’s switch from rapid-fire scolding to slow, deliberate questioning left her unable to swallow over the sandpaper lump in her throat.
“Where was Vic?”
She stared at the back of the building, wishing she’d kept her mouth shut. “He’d left for the night.” If she averted her gaze, she could pretend his eyeballs weren’t bugging out of his head, and his jaw didn’t need a crane to haul it off his chest.
“You were at the town hall after hours? Did anyone see you?”
“A custodian opened his door for me.” She snuck a glance. Sure enough, features contorted in shock and horror replaced his boy-next-door good looks.

Hi Marcia, it’s lovely to meet Jill. I thought her list was very amusing. I concur with the last point completely.

Glad you enjoyed Jill’s list, Robbie. Sorry I’m late responding, but I had a early morning doctor’s appointment that took longer than I thought it would. Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts! Have a great day! 😀 ❤

Thanks, Robbie. I’m doing okay, but thoroughly tired of staying home all day, every day, for months now! September’s imaging and follow up visit with my cardiologist will tell the tale. (Hopefully one with a happy ending, and a manageable condition.)
I do find it hard to keep up, though, especially with my blogging friends, so am relying on “Liking” and Sharing most of the time. Hope all is well with YOU and yours?

Hi Marcia, I understand the difficulty of keeping up. I use Jetpack now and pop in at various times during the day. Things are okay for now. Thanks for asking ❤️

Fall, or Autumn as we say, is my favourite season too. And I definitely agree about animals understanding more that we think. Enjoyed reading, thanks Jill and Marcia 💕

Thank you for stopping by, Cathy. I’m already getting excited to pull out the sweaters and jeans! One of my favorite things to do to kick off the season is watch a few reruns of Gilmore Girls. That show knew how to bring autumn to life.

My pleasure, Jill. Although we haven’t had much of a summer so far, I’m looking forward to autumn too. I just love the colours.

First of all, beautiful cat! We had a modern Siamese for years; she was wonderful. Second, I, too, am addicted to lip balm (but it’s hot, dry, and windy here in TX, so…). Third, A Sour Note sounds good. It’s now on my TBR!

The cat is, indeed, beautiful! I’ve had Siamese cats in the past, too, and love them. (But then again, I love ALL cats.) Glad you enjoyed Jill’s post, Vera, and thanks so much for taking the time to let us know. Have a great day! 😀 ❤

It was great meeting Jill today, Marcia. I loved the list. I don’t shop, but her strategies sound terrific. It’s a lovely cat and a great photo, too. I agree on number 10. Sometimes I’m totally shocked by the understanding. Best wishes on A Sour Note, Jill.

It’s nice to meet you, Jill, and your number 10 made me think of Bonnie Gamus’ “Lessons in Chemistry.” Yes, our animals do understand and know how to communicate in their own ways. Thank you for being a teacher!

Glad you enjoyed meeting Jill today, Valerie, and you are so right about our animals. They can be amazingly good at understanding us, in many different ways, from voice tone to gestures, and beyond.
Thanks so much for stopping by today and taking a moment to say hello. Hope you have a great afternoon! 😀 ❤

I am a Christmas fanatic, but I have to say that I prefer to keep my holidays separate, so I reserve the Friday after Thanksgiving (which we celebrate in abundance) to take down my 45 to 50 boxes of Christmas decorations and start putting them out. We have the lights up by that night, but it takes me a week to ten days or so to get all four trees done and my Santa Claus collection on display. And I love every minute of it!
Christmas is the best time of the year, isn’t it? 😀 ❤

Actually, I forgot a small one in the guest bath. 😀 And I have an enormous collection of Santas, ranging in size from about 1 inch to over 6 feet. My son calls our home “The House of a Thousand Santas.” But I have too many pumpkins and things around to start bringing it all out until that Friday after Thanksgiving. (Mark spends the whole morning up on the ladder, putting fall away and handing down Christmas stuff. :D)

My pleasure to have you, Jill! Sorry I’m being spotty with my own responses to everyone, but the day hasn’t been a smooth one for me. I’ll gradually catch up, though, and meanwhile, you’re doing great. You’ll probably get more comments for the next couple of days, too, and I hope you’ll have fun with everyone.
Thanks for being our guest today! 😀 ❤

Thanks again for being my guest, and I am enjoying seeing what everyone has to say about your list. 😀 ❤

Glad you enjoyed Jill’s post, Debby! I’m afraid my enjoyment of shopping for clothes (in ANY price range) has long disappeared. I pretty much live in shorts and loose, comfy shirts, except when I’m giving a talk. Then I add loose comfy SLACKS to the ensemble and call it a day. 😂 But I agree that Jill’s list was fun, and thanks so much for stopping by to let us know you had fun reading it. Have a great Sun’s Day! 😀 ❤

Thanks Marsh. Lol, stalking clothing means everything inclusive – including sweat pants, etc. I hate paying full price when I like something I don’t really need, I’ll keep an eye on it til there’s a sale. Consumer consciousness, lol 🙂 Happy Sun Day ❤

Yeah, but … but … but I haven’t bought a single new piece of clothing in years. I just take good care of the shorts, tops, and slacks I own, and that’s that. See? No stalking involved at all, especially now that I’m stuck at home. 😄😄😄

Lol, you’re admirable Marcia. I am much better than I was ten years ago with shopping. 🙂 xx

It helps that I lead a very simple life, and these days, spend most of it at home. No need for fancy duds. And even when I’m doing what I love (gardening, birding, hiking, etc), shorts or jeans & shirts are all I need. I’m a casual soul in my old age!

Sometimes items sit in my cart so long I tire of them in the same way I do the things in my closet. When that doesn’t happen after a while, I know it’s worth buying – and by then it’s usually a good deal.
