And yet, we are so prone to doing it, aren’t we? I’ve never figured out if we’re really that scared to try new things, or if we just use doubting our abilities as an excuse for not not making the effort. Either way, it’s a bad idea!
Thanks for stopping by today, Jaye, and for taking a moment to comment! 😀 ❤

And thanks so much for sharing. Some of what Granny digs up to share are sayings that have been around a long, long time, but they are still things we need to be reminded of now and then. 😀

For sure, Jeanne! If we could only have back all the opportunities we’ve lost because we weren’t sure of ourselves! 🙄 *sigh*

It really IS true, and sad that we let our doubts stop us so often. If seeing this post today gives ONE person the push to go ahead and give something new a try, I’ll be happy! Glad it made you smile, and I hope your weekend goes beautifully, too. Thinking of you! 🤗💖

It really is, isn’t it? And something we’ve all been guilty of from time to time, I’m surel Heck, I spent most of my life doubting I could ever write (let alone SELL) a book. Now, I won’t say I can buy that tropical island getaway yet, you understand … but I’m managing to do both of those things, and loving every minute of it.
Glad you enjoyed this one, Sue, and thanks so much for stopping by and taking a moment to let me know! 😀 ❤

They sure are, Joan, and I wish I’d heard them decades ago. I didn’t have much faith in myself for many, many years, but I’m doing a lot better about that now. 😀
Glad you liked this one, and thanks for stopping by to comment today! 😀 ❤

Such great advice! I might print it out and put it on my desk. ❤

It’s a great reminder that we are often our own worst enemies, isn’t it? I know I took DECADES to learn to believe in myself, and even now, I have days when I starting doubting again.
Glad you enjoyed this one, Trish, and thanks so much for letting me know! 😀 ❤

Glad you liked it, Mae. And yep. We do it to ourselves, don’t we? *sigh* I hope this one helps folks realize that, so they can be on the look out for all those doubts that sneak up on us.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Happy Halloween, and good luck with NaNoWriMo! You can do it, I know. Just don’t let any steenkin’ ol’ self-doubts in the door! 🤗💖

An affliction many people experience—especially writers who often sabotage themselves.

Exactly so, Pete. Some of us doubt for so many years, we come close to missing the bus altogether. 😮 So glad I finally woke up and remembered that old saying “nothing ventured, nothing gained.” I very nearly waited too late to follow a dream I’d had since age five! Doh!!
Thanks for stopping by and taking a moment to comment! 😀 ❤

I feel grateful to have learned the same lesson. The old saying, “better late than never,” comes to mind. Have a great weekend, Marcia.

There’s a reason some sayings hang around so long, right? 😄 You have a great weekend, too, Pete! 😊

Great wisdom in this, Marcia. I think I fail more than I doubt, but I learn something from the failure, and sometimes that lesson is just what I needed to get it right the next try. 🙂

I happen to have another Granny Says coming up before long on failure, and for sure, there are things to learn from it. I’m also happy to know you aren’t a doubter, but then I never imagined you would be. I’m always inspired by what you’ve done, and love your books SO much! Thanks for stopping by to see what Granny’s been up to! 🤗💖

I’m not a doubter, Marcia. I get inspired and just jump in without thinking things through. It leads to lots of failures… erm… learning opportunities. Lol.
