Catching Up #amwriting

Just a quick update to let those of you who followed me on Facebook know that it was the first thing to go in my new plan to cutback on all the time I’ve been spending on social media. But it’s just the beginning. I have lots more I’m lopping away at, and hopefully will end up with much more time for actually writing.Β

Once again, I have no plans to do away with this blog. I’d miss you all way too much for that. But temporarily, I will be limiting the number of posts. I’ve decided to wait one more week before scheduling #FirstLineFriday and will probably start an alternate week schedule with it and my other features. Will keep you posted. But don’t be alarmed if you don’t see a lot of me for the next few weeks. I’m writing, before my readers rise up in a body to smite me about the head and shoulders, a la Azrael. πŸ˜‰

I WILL, as promised, continue my Peace Talks countdown, as they are mostly images and a couple of brief comments or quotes. And I will reblog several of my favorite features on the blogs I’m still trying to keep up with. That doesn’t take long, either.Β  But overall, I’ll be hard at work here, finishing off The Emissary 3, and getting started on Riverbend 4.Β

Thanks for being so understanding, but please don’t forget me. In the famous last words of you-know-who, “Ah’ll be back!” πŸ˜€ ❀

    • Thanks, Teri. Nope, not planning to do away with the blog, just temporarily cutting back on the regular features until I catch up a bit. But the rest of social media has begun to overwhelm me, and I finally realized I just can’t do it all anymore. So, some things are already gone, especially if they really weren’t worth sinking time into. And I’ve started paring down several others, as well. I don’t have decades ahead of me in which to write, and I still have stories screaming to be told, so that’s going to become my primary focus again. When I stop writing, I can lollygag around on social media all I want, but until then, I need to produce a few more books! πŸ˜€

    • Good luck to you, too, Jeanne! I won’t be far away, and will continue to keep a few things going here, especially our favorite topic, the imminent arrival of Peace Talks. Hopefully, once I dig myself out of this hole, I can resume all of my regular features again, though they may come back one or two at a time. I’ll do my best, though. πŸ™‚ ❀

  1. This sounds a most sensible plan of action. Sometimes it can feel like all my time and energy has gone on checking and responding to social media leaving me too drained to settle properly to my own writing. There are some blogs (yours of course!) that I look forward to and which are supportive or make my life sweeter. I’m glad that you’re keeping that going but freeing up time to dedicate to The Emissary 3 and then Riverbend 4 -Yay! πŸ™‚ ❀ πŸ™‚

    • I knew you’d understand, Trish. I really want to finish up the Emissary trilogy and then that 4th Riverbend book. At that point, I can decide how much farther I can take Rabbit’s adventures. Probably going to focus on some novellas for him next. But however I spend my time, I’d like writing to make up the majority of it for the next couple of years, at least.

Hope you find some balance, too, my friend! Good luck!! πŸ™‚ ❀

    • If you’re using it productively, doing things you like or staying connected with family, I think it probably works very well. But all I was really doing was posting a daily meme or two, and then responding to a ton of notices, so it’s not so important. And it IS a major-time suck, to boot. I can always open a new account later if I miss it, but I doubt I will. I hope to be so busy writing, I never miss it at all. πŸ˜€

    • I won’t give up blogging, but I don’t believe I’ve ever sold a book related to FB stuff. I’ve seen no evidence to support that, at all. And I do plan to do more marketing, not less. I just want to do it better than I have been, and see stronger results. Plus, I know nothing is irreversible. I can set up a new FB page again, should I decide I need it.

But I’ve read many times that nothing sells books like writing new ones, and I haven’t been writing at all. Between my fall/concussion slowing me down, and then various health issues and far too much stress, I’ve not written but a couple thousand words in 2020!!! So, that’s got to be my focus for now. Writing and new marketing strategies. And of course, my twice-monthly local events when we are able to start having them again.

Hopefully, this plan will help me get back to what I want to do most. Write.

  2. I hear ya. I’m so far behind on reading blog posts … But really glad you’re going to keep counting down! Just finished Blood Rites, where Harry gets his pup and learns Thomas is his half-brother. Great adventure! Hmm, which one next πŸ˜€

    • Dead Beat is next, and it’s a corker and a half! OMG. And the ending is fantastic!!! I do love Harry and Thomas, (who, btw, sometimes breaks my heart). This series is even better the second time around! πŸ˜€
