Those are beautiful birds indeed. In Scotland (and actually now in lots of places in England too) we have the equally impressive Red-railed Kite, though the swallow shape of his tail is not as accentuated as these, but they never fail to draw the eye, gliding overhead looking for their next meal.
Breath-taking.

    And here I was, thumbing frantically through my field guide, trying to figure out where on the bird the “rail” is located! 😀 😀 😀
    
    Kites, in general, are lovely birds. We have several others in the U.S.–white-tailed, Mississippi, and snail kites–but none of them have forked tails, or that kind of agility and beauty. They have truly sweet faces, too. Glad you enjoyed the post, Debby! 🙂

      Lol, I wish we could edit our comments – I always notice the typos immediately AFTER sending them 😦
      Our Red-tailed Kites have the forked tail, just not as deep a fork as your guys.
