Woohooo! A Super Review for #TheLight

Got home and found the latest review for my new release, The Light: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 4, and it’s a humdinger! I just had to share it here, and hope you’ll help me get the word out by passing it along. I wasn’t able to set up a real blog tour, though I do hope to visit with a few of you over the next week or two, so sharing would be a big help, for sure. But meanwhile, just take a look at this:

Mae Clair
5.0 out of 5 stars A Heartwarming Mystery!
December 15, 2019
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase

I have read and enjoyed all of Marcia Meara’s Wake Robin Ridge books, but The Light, is quite possibly my favorite. Rabbit–a very special eleven-year-old boy who grew up in Appalachia, now the adopted son of Sarah and Mac–takes center stage yet again. Gifted with “the sight” which allows him to see future events as well as “read” others, he is wise beyond his years. An old soul who has a unique way of viewing the world, he has a folksy charm that resonates with every word he utters. Meara’s gift of writing him is exquisite, and despite numerous well-rounded and lovable characters, it’s Rabbit who steals the show.

I adore Mac and Sarah—mostly because of Rabbit’s pure-hearted love for them, and their utter devotion and fierce protective love for him. I’m enamored of several new characters who make their debut in this book—especially Austin—but once you meet Rabbit, you’re eternally smitten. No two ways about it. He’s a character who lingers long after you’ve read the last paragraph.

An added bonus is the inclusion of the Brown Mountain Lights, an unexplained phenomenon that has long fascinated me. Meara does an excellent job of weaving their appearance into a multi-layered plot which covers the gamut from high-brow society to misguided con artists.

If you like family stories with plenty of warmth, threads of the supernatural and folklore, plus a well-plotted mystery, don’t miss the latest in the Wake Robin Ridge Series. Five big glittery stars!

BLURB:

The Magic is Back!

For Robert MacKenzie Cole—or Rabbit, as he’s known to all—the chance to accompany his family to see North Carolina’s infamous Brown Mountain Lights has him nearly dizzy with excitement. And what better night to watch this unexplained phenomenon unfold than Halloween?

But when the entrancing, unpredictable lights show up, Rabbit gets far more than he bargained for. He’s gifted with what folks in the Appalachians call “the Sight,” and it’s this extrasensory perception that enables him to spot the one light different from all the rest.

In his biggest challenge to date, Rabbit—aided by his daddy and his newest friend, Austin Dupree— begins a quest to learn more about the mysterious light. Their investigation unveils a web of cons and corruption none of them expected and exposes a brutal murder along the way.

Throughout all, Rabbit is unfaltering in his commitment to do whatever it takes to understand the truth behind the glowing orb and to determine how he can help it. After all, it followed him home.

Author Marcia Meara

Marcia Meara lives in central Florida, just north of Orlando, with her husband of over thirty years, four big cats, and one small dachshund.

When not writing or blogging, she spends her time gardening, and enjoying the surprising amount of wildlife that manages to make a home in her suburban yard. She enjoys nature. Really, really enjoys it. All of it! Well, almost all of it, anyway. From birds, to furry critters, to her very favorites, snakes. The exception would be spiders, which she truly loathes, convinced that anything with eight hairy legs is surely up to no good. She does not, however, kill spiders anymore, since she knows they have their place in the world. Besides, her husband now handles her Arachnid Catch and Release Program, and she’s good with that.

Spiders aside, the one thing Marcia would like to tell each of her readers is that it’s never too late to make your dreams come true. If, at the age of 69, she could write and publish a book (and thus fulfill 64 years of longing to do that very thing), you can make your own dreams a reality, too. Go for it! What have you got to lose?

Marcia has published seven novels, two novellas, and one book of poetry to date, all of which are available on Amazon:

Wake-Robin Ridge
A Boy Named Rabbit: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 2
Harbinger: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 3
The Light: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 4

Swamp Ghosts: A Riverbend Novel
Finding Hunter: Riverbend Book 2
That Darkest Place: Riverbend Book 3

The Emissary: A Riverbend Spinoff Novella
The Emissary 2: To Love Somebody

Home from Denver, and Up to My Usual Mischief Once More

Red Rocks Park and Natural Amphitheater

Brace yourselves, folks–she’s baa-aack! And bringing photos and news along with her! We had a lovely time in Arvada (just outside of Denver) and enjoyed the nippy (20 degrees or so) weather. Even got a bit of snow, but nothing like the 18″ that fell a couple of weeks before we went.

We visited several outdoor areas and parks, including the one above, and took a long drive into the mountains. Sadly, our planned trip to Estes Park was cancelled due to heavy snow up that high the day we were planning to go, but we’ll see it in the spring, I’m sure.

We did visit Lair O’ the Bear park, but could only hike a small ways along the trail, as it was iced over and very slippery. Will visit that one again in the spring, too. Still, as you can see from the above photo, it was beautiful, and we had a great day.

More red rocks at Red Rocks

We had a fabulous time at Red Rocks Park & Amphitheater, where many, many concerts have been held. Mark got a nice shot of the amphitheater itself, but by the time I made it up there, I was too winded to think about pictures. But I DID make it, and it’s a pretty steep path. I am ecstatic to be able to say I sat on the stage where so many groups have performed! Yay, me, for persevering through all the huffing and puffing! I’d share the pics of Mark and I at the top, but they are somewhat less than flattering, so I’m sparing your sensibilities! 😀

John Denver “Spirit”

One of my favorite things about the park was this fantastic statue of John Denver, an icon of the area, for sure. (You can hardly keep yourself from singing “Rocky Mountain High” under your breath as you hike along!) We really enjoyed the day. I was also excited (birdwatcher that I am) to spot my first magpies on this trip. Got a great look at one at Red Rocks, as well as seeing a small herd of mule deer.

Mule Deer (a first for us)

Gramps and Kaelen

Here’s another shot from one of our outings, though I’m not sure which one.  Gramps and Kaelen usually led the way on our adventures.

Picnic in the Snow, Anyone?
(We ate FAST, then went for our hike!) 😀

Back at the (WARM) House!

Erin, Me, and Reya

And I think I’ll close this with a picture of three generations of happy ladies, windblown, red-cheeked, and having a great time.

Hope all of you have been enjoying the season, so far, and are ready to celebrate the holidays. Me? I haven’t bought a single Christmas gift, so I suspect I’m going to be very, very busy this week! 😀 But I’ll be ho-ho-hoing all the way!

Merry Christmas!

Special Announcement! New Audio Books Available

Don Massenzio has just accomplished something I’ve been trying to do for a long time: he’s manged to get 8 of his 10 books published on audio. Check out his post! And don’t forget to share, too, thanks! Congratulations, Don! 🙂

I know I have been away from my blog for a bit and I’m starting to dive back in. That doesn’t mean that my author life went totally dormant during that time. I spent the time working with voice actors to work toward the release of my books as audio books. I’m happy to announce that eight of my ten books are now available as audio books with the last two currently in various stages of production.

This format seems to be popular and, without promoting them, sales have been surprisingly good. Most of this, I believe, is due to the talents of the wonderful voice actors that produced them.

Here is a list of the books with their Amazon links:

A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That

A little over two weeks ago, I was advised by my doctor to limit my computer time severely, and I took her advice seriously. I’ve been on a blog break ever since, and it’s not something I’ve enjoyed, frankly. So, I’m planning to work my way back into the blogosphere, bit by bit, with the thought in mind that no one will notice and tell on me.  😀

I probably won’t be resuming my weekly features just yet, as my energy level is still low, low, low. But I’ll try to stop by at least a couple of times a week to let you guys know what’s happening.

To that end, let me say that I have finally–despite hurricanes, illness, and falling down with a loud BOOM–managed to finish The Light: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 4! My editor and I are about halfway done with making it presentable for public consumption, and I’m very eager to get this one “out there.” Hopefully, the eBook will be published within the next two weeks.

I will be revealing the beautiful new cover right here in the next day or so, and even though I’m not quite up to doing a cover reveal “tour,” I do hope you guys will share it far and wide. Stay tuned to see for yourself what a great job my cover designer did on this one. I think it’s my favorite, so far. 🙂

And finally, on a local note, in order to be sure I have the print version of this book IN HAND, I’ve moved the date of the Book Release Party to January 25, 1:00 to 4:00 at the Enterprise Museum. If you are in the area, please drop by to see us!

That’s it for now. Have a great evening, everyone!

#NewRelease – Katherine, Tudor Duchess by Tony Riches

Today, I’m delighted to share Katherine, Tudor Duchess, the latest release from Tony Riches, author of the best-selling Tudor Trilogy.  If you have read any of Tony’s work to date, you won’t be surprised to learn that this book is a #1 Hot New Release on Amazon. Anyone who loves historical fiction will certainly want to check it out! And just look at this gorgeous cover! Please remember to pass on Tony’s news far and wide, too. Thanks!

BLURB:

Attractive, wealthy and influential, Katherine Willoughby is one of the most unusual ladies of the Tudor court. A favourite of King Henry VIII, Katherine knows all his six wives, his daughters Mary and Elizabeth, and his son Edward.

When her father dies, Katherine becomes the ward of Tudor knight, Sir Charles Brandon. Her Spanish mother, Maria de Salinas, is Queen Catherine of Aragon’s lady in waiting, so it is a challenging time for them when King Henry marries the enigmatic Anne Boleyn.

Following Anne’s dramatic downfall, Katherine marries Charles Brandon, and becomes Duchess of Suffolk at the age of fourteen. After the short reign of young Catherine Howard, and the death of Jane Seymour, Katherine and Brandon are chosen to welcome Anna of Cleves as she arrives in England.
When the royal marriage is annulled, Katherine’s good friend, Catherine Parr becomes the king’s sixth wife, and they work to promote religious reform. Katherine’s young sons are tutored with the future king, Prince Edward, and become his friends, but when Edward dies his Catholic sister Mary is crowned queen. Katherine’s Protestant faith puts her family in great danger – from which there seems no escape.

Katherine’s remarkable true story continues the epic tale of the rise of the Tudors, which began with the best-selling Tudor trilogy and concludes with the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.

Katherine, Tudor Duchess  is Available in eBook and paperback here:
