#GuestDayTuesday – #CoverReveal – #SarahBrentyn

I have a special surprise for you folks today! My friend, Sarah Brentyn, has not one but two beautifully redesigned  and elegant covers to share with you! But I’ll let her tell you the full story of how they came to be. And here she is:

~~~
I Don’t Know How Art Works
To me, art is magic. And I mean that literally. Obviously, figuratively, too, since all creative endeavors are magical. But it’s…I don’t know…weird. I just don’t get it.
Having these covers made was a long process. I asked many, numerous, countless, repetitive, stupid questions along the way. It wasn’t pretty. Like “How do you get the picture from your notebook to the computer screen?” And “What do you mean?” And, “How is that going to turn from a…line thingy…into a shaded flower?” And “What do you mean?” And “How are you going to make that lighter without making the other part darker?” And “What do you mean?” Fortunately, the artist I worked with is a saint with a great deal of patience. (Or, just as likely, sent kind inquiries and tolerant responses while screaming obscenities I couldn’t hear. Yeah. That’s super possible.)
I’m going to give you the sanitized version of how this all went down. (Believe me, this is for your own good.)
I didn’t know what I wanted.
Or, rather, I knew exactly what I wanted but had no idea how to express it. I don’t speak art.
So, when I tried to explain the idea, it sounded like Dr. Seuss on a bad day:
“I’d love to have a fringlehop around the juglifine. A circle ‘round the difentoot with wiscott and some bine.”
She asked if I could show her what I meant. That went well. It was like a two-year-old shoving a crayon scribble at you and expectantly waiting for applause for the amoeba-shaped blob that is obviously a cat.
After that, came more, ridiculous, relentless questions. Like “Can you move the thing over to where the other thing is?” And “What do you mean?” And “How about if that thing is closer to the other thing?” And “What do you mean?”
There was also a great deal of, “I don’t know how art works.” It became my mantra.
When the artwork was done, we needed to distress it. The images were too clean and pretty for my dark writing. Did I want the background distressed or the image itself? And what type of distressing? That, my friends, is another story.
For now, enjoy the beautiful artwork by the talented (and ever-patient) Loni Townsend. I hope you like the fresh, new look for my books!
Shoutout to the lovely Allie Potts for getting these covers into print-ready form so I could have my precious paperbacks (and for creating beautiful 3D images).
And … tada! Here are Sarah’s freshly redesigned covers for your viewing pleasure. Personally, I think they are gorgeous! Elegant and refined, and positively stunning. I suspect most of you will agree.
Now I ask you, was I right? I love both of these covers so much, I’d buy them just to put on easels on my bookshelves. But an even better reason would be because the writing is so very good. It’s a Win-Win! Check out these Blurbs!
Hinting At Shadows BLURB:
Cover Reveal for Grinders by C. S. Boyack
I’m happy to welcome C. S. Boyack here today with a cover reveal of his newest work, Grinders. Craig has some interesting info to share on the book, as well. This intriguing set up will surely inspire you guys to share this post far and wide! Thanks! Now, take it away, Craig!
~~~

I’m here to reveal my newest cover and talk a bit about Grinders. This time, I’m tackling a cyberpunk world. It’s one of those worlds where the Internet and being connected too much controls our lives.

One of the things I like about science fiction is the ability to project current events into the future. I call this, “Poking things with a stick.”

I poked a lot of things in this book, but most of them are in passing. Some of them show up in advertisements, which are invasive in this world. Others might just be a news blurb. There are times when I dive a bit deeper, and not everything is negative. Here is a small list of things that show up in the story:

  • Global warming
  • Plastic pollution
  • Helicopter moms
  • Cyber shut-ins
  • The energy crisis
  • New ways for package thieves to operate
  • Police who can’t carry guns until they are five-year veterans
  • Homeowner associations

There are a lot more, and most of them are pretty subtle. Cyberpunk is not known for deep plots, but I wanted one anyway.

Grinders is set about a hundred years in the future, in San Francisco. The main characters are cops assigned to the Grinder Squad. This is the duty nobody wants, and you almost have to screw up to get this assignment.

Grinders exist today, but I ramped them up for this story. These are people who surgically modify themselves, or each other, in basement surgeries, beauty salons, and tattoo parlors. Real world examples are those who implant chips under their skin to allow themselves to unlock doors or start cars without a key. There has even been one who injected dye into his eyeballs in an attempt to see in the dark. In that example, it actually worked but the results were temporary.

My story involves the downside of these modifications, why they’re illegal, and most of them are a bit more extreme than the real world versions. For example, you’ll meet Brandi, who has moth-like antennae implanted into her forehead. They aren’t just cute, they allow her to taste virtually everything. She’s almost like a bloodhound, only using the sense of taste.

Grinder Squad rarely ever does anything, but the new girl on the squad, Jimi, wants to bust a grind shop in the worst way. She feels like it could be her ticket off this crap detail and on to better duty.

One of my silly goals was to release the book in time for Chinese New Year. I’m not going to make it. I still need to finish my final pass, send it to the formatter, and get my promotional posters. It’s going to need a blurb, too.

I targeted this date because in the story, it’s the Year of the Rat. An important part of the story takes place at San Francisco’s annual parade. There are even a couple of rats in the story that play a pivotal role. Aside from that, I was born in the Year of the Rat.

Readers won’t actually care about my silly target date, and it’s more important to give everything the final polish. What I did get in time was cover art. So Gong Hei Fot Choi, everyone, and enjoy the cover. The story will be available before you know it, and I’ll announce that on my blog.

#BookRelease #CoverReveal and #News – The Light: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 4 is HERE!

I am beyond excited to let the world know my newest novel, The Light: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 4 is now available on Kindle! Because my doctor has said I’m well enough to travel, we are heading west for a few days, and I won’t be able to get the print book published, proofed, and made available until our return. However, you may rest assured it will be along very shortly thereafter. In the meantime, for those of you who enjoy reading on Kindle or simply can’t wait any longer, you should definitely rush straight to Amazon and download your copy today! 😀 This one has been a long time coming, but I hope it will prove to have been worth the wait. And by all means, please share my  happy news with the Immediate World! THANKS!

By the way, I hope to visit with some of you after I return from our trip. At that time, I’ll be absolutely shameless about begging to chat with any of you good folks who’d like to have me stop by.  Just sayin’ . . .

And now, here it is! TADA!

The Magic is Back!

For Robert MacKenzie Cole—or Rabbit, as he’s known to all—the chance to accompany his family to see North Carolina’s infamous Brown Mountain Lights has him nearly dizzy with excitement. And what better night to watch this unexplained phenomenon unfold than Halloween?

But when the entrancing, unpredictable lights show up, Rabbit gets far more than he bargained for. He’s gifted with what folks in the Appalachians call “the Sight,” and it’s this extrasensory perception that enables him to spot the one light different from all the rest.

In his biggest challenge to date, Rabbit—aided by his daddy and his newest friend, Austin Dupree— begins a quest to learn more about the mysterious light. Their investigation unveils a web of cons and corruption none of them expected and exposes a brutal murder along the way.

Throughout all, Rabbit is unfaltering in his commitment to do whatever it takes to understand the truth behind the glowing orb and to determine how he can help it.

After all, it followed him home.

Author Marcia Meara

Marcia Meara lives in central Florida, just north of Orlando, with her husband of over thirty years, four big cats, and one small dachshund.

When not writing or blogging, she spends her time gardening, and enjoying the surprising amount of wildlife that manages to make a home in her suburban yard. She enjoys nature. Really, really enjoys it. All of it! Well, almost all of it, anyway. From birds, to furry critters, to her very favorites, snakes. The exception would be spiders, which she truly loathes, convinced that anything with eight hairy legs is surely up to no good. She does not, however, kill spiders anymore, since she knows they have their place in the world. Besides, her husband now handles her Arachnid Catch and Release Program, and she’s good with that.

Spiders aside, the one thing Marcia would like to tell each of her readers is that it’s never too late to make your dreams come true. If, at the age of 69, she could write and publish her first book (and thus fulfill 64 years of longing to do that very thing), you can make your own dreams a reality, too. Go for it! What have you got to lose?

Marcia has published six other novels to date, all of which are available on Amazon in both print and Kindle format. She has also published two spin-off novellas and a book of poetry, currently only available in Kindle format.

Looking For a Few Kind Bloggers – Cover Reveal – #Paranormal #UrbanFantasy #Angels

I’m pretty excited to be doing my very first cover reveal as part of a book launch for The Emissary 2: To Love Somebody. I’m hoping some of you would like to share my beautiful new cover on Thursday, September 27. If you have a spot available on that day and would like to to help me share, please email me at marciameara16@gmail.com

I’ll be setting the posts up in HTML format to speed the process up for you. All you have to do is open the file, then  copy and  paste into your WordPress text editor. Easy-peasey! Hope some of you will be interested in participating.

The Emissary 2: To Love Sombody is my second spinoff novella from my Riverbend series, and picks up the story right where The Emissary 1 leaves off. Lots of fun and adventures with Jake, Dodger, and their boss, the archangel Azrael. The first book in the series has gotten some lovely reviews, and I hope the second one will do so, as well. When I have the third Emissary novella written, I’ll combine the three so I can also offer them in print format.

I’d love to give your readers a first peek at this gorgeous cover, by Nicki Forde Graphic Design,  and I thank you for any help you can offer.

#CoverReveal #TheEmissary

I really shouldn’t be doing this yet, but since I only have a few minutes to post today, I thought I’d use it to share a sneak peek at the cover of my latest book. Shhhhhhh. This is very hush-hush. Just between you, me, and 3600 of my dearest friends! 😀 (Okay, blab all you want. I’m pretty proud of this cover and very excited about this Riverbend spinoff novella. Feel free to spread the word as far and wide as you can, and you will be the first to know when the book is published. Hopefully, within the week.)

But for now . . . TADA! The Emissary is on the road! Jake and Azrael are looking for troubled souls from Key West to Atlanta, Georgia! (And believe me, they find them, too!)

Now how gorgeous is that? *happy sigh*
(You may now resume your regularly scheduled programming.)
😀

#CoverReveal & #ThatDarkestPlace Update – #wwwblogs

I may be slaving away at editing the last five chapters of #ThatDarkestPlace, but at last I have something to share with you guys! My cover designer, Graphics Goddess Nicki Forde (of Nicki Forde Designs) has done me proud, once again. I do believe this is my favorite of all my covers. So far. (You never know what she’ll come up with for the next one.) I just had to share this today, and I hope you agree that it’s a glorious thing. Full of mystery,  hinting at disaster, and perfectly encompassing a man in despair.

#MysteryGoneMad – #Coming Soon – Some News of My Own!

IMG_1037

I’m very excited to report that I’ve been invited to be included in a boxed set of six mystery novels. Yep! In the very near future,  Swamp Ghosts will be included in Mystery Gone Mad, a cool collection of crazy mysteries: Hard-boiled, soft-boiled, and just plain funny. I hope you’ll all stay tuned as things progress.

As soon as the set is available for pre-order, I’ll post the link. Pre-orders will be $.99. When the set is released, the price will be $2.99. Still a bargain price for over 1,400 pages of murder and mayhem.

 The authors include Anna Celeste Burke, Gerald Darnell, Viv Drewa, Judith Lucci, Marcia Meara (that’s moi), and Karen Vaughan. I’m pretty excited about the whole thing, as you might imagine, and I know you guys will help us get the word out.

Check out the cool trailer Gerald Darnell created for us: Mystery Gone Mad

sm cover at 30 percent

One more thing before I head to bed. I finally decided to expand Summer Magic by a few more poems and put out a print version, so I asked my cover designer, Nicki Forde, to come up with something that was the embodiment of a magical summer night. When I got to her house today, she had three covers for me to choose from. All of them were beautiful, but THIS one just stole my heart away! It’s everything I imagined, and more! Going to bed now, to dream of dark summer woods filled with fairy lights! *happy sigh*

#FabulousFridayGuestBlogger #Carmen Stefanescu Cover Reveal: Till Life Do Us Part

FFGB Graphic

In lieu of our normal guest blogger style post, Carmen Stefanescu would like to share the cover reveal for her newest book: Till Life Do Us Part. Let’s all support her by sharing as far and wide as we can, and please remember, you are invited to do the same with your new books, as well. Sharing is what we do!

***

Marcia, thank you so much for having me as your guest today. You know my interest in anything odd –  paranormal, myths,  legends  – all that is out of the normal boundaries.  Reincarnation and chat with ghosts can be included, too.

I’m thrilled to be here, and excited to share the cover for my upcoming release.

Till Life Do Us Part

Publisher: Solstice Publishing
Genre:  Paranormal Romance
Magic, Reincarnation, Mystery, Suspense
Release date: 9th June 2016

Till Life Do us part-0013

Barbara Heyer can hear voices of dead people. They whisper of their deaths, seek comfort for those left behind, and occasionally even warn her about future events. But when Barbara’s brother, Colin, is accused of murder, it will take more than her gift to prove his innocence.

Becoming smitten with the handsome investigator, Detective Patrick Fischer, is a serious complication given his assignment to her brother’s case. Barbara senses there is something far deeper—and perhaps much older—than the surface attraction between them. Could that be why she’s visited by a mysterious woman named Emma in her dreams? Could past life regression tie all the seemingly unconnected events together?

Barbara and Patrick must overcome heartache to find the truth to save Colin, and perhaps themselves.

carmen4

Carmen Stefanescu resides in Romania, the native country of the infamous vampire Count Dracula, but where, for about 50 years of communist dictatorship, just speaking about God, faith, reincarnation or paranormal phenomena could have led someone to great trouble – the psychiatric hospital if not to prison.

Teacher of English and German in her native country and mother of two daughters, Carmen Stefanescu survived the grim years of oppression, by escaping in a parallel world that of the books.

She has dreamed all her life to become a writer, but many of the things she wrote during those years remained just drawer projects. The fall of the Ceausescu’s regime in 1989 and the opening of the country to the world meant a new beginning for her. She started publishing. Several of her poems were successfully published in a collection of Contemporary English Poems, Muse Whispers vol.1 and Muse Whispers vol.2 by Midnight Edition Publication, in 2001 and 2002.

 Her first novel, Shadows of the Past, was released in 2012 by Wild Child Publishing, USA.

                   Carmen joined the volunteer staff at Marketing For Romance Writers Author blog and is the coordinator of #Thursday13 posts.
