“Christmas, Christmas time is near,
Time for toys and time for cheer,
We’ve been good, but we can’t last,
Hurry Christmas, hurry fast!”
Betcha if I asked you to name Thor’s favorite Christmas song, you would never have guessed it had anything to do with Alvin & the Chipmunks, would ya? Welp–you’d have been wrong. It seems Thor finds that song hilarious, and likes to play it over and over on his iPhone. (What? You thought the giant Norse God of Thunder wouldn’t be caught dead with an iPhone? How the heck do you think he keeps up with his social media while on the go?)
Chipmunks and iPhones aside, Thor specifically asked me to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday Season, so with that in mind, here are a few memes we both hope will make you laugh.

Saved this for last, just because it’s ADORABLE!
And Blessings of the Season to ALL!

Tis the season of good cheer, love, faith, and joy to the world! So much to do, so many friends and family members to enjoy, and miles of wrapping paper to put to use around special gifts for everyone! You all know how it is, I’m sure. With that in mind, I’ve decided to take a blog break through the end of the year. (It’s the only way I’ll get everything done I want to do and find time to spend with those I don’t get to see nearly often enough.)
I’m wishing each and every one of you a beautiful Christmas and Holiday Season, and the Happiest New Year ever! Here’s hoping that 2024 turns out to be a year of peace, love, and joy for us all.
NOTE:
Granny Says and ThorsDaySmile posts have been scheduled until year’s end. Enjoy!

Haven’t shared a classic poem in some time, so I thought I’d better make up for that by sharing one today. Since the season is upon us, I figured I’d go with a beautiful Christmas poem. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
And thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along
The unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Till ringing, singing on its way,
The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime,
A chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Then from each black, accursed mouth
The cannon thundered in the South,
And with the sound
The carols drowned
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
It was as if an earthquake rent
The hearth-stones of a continent,
And made forlorn
The households born
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
And in despair I bowed my head;
“There is no peace on earth,” I said;
“For hate is strong,
And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!”
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
“God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The Wrong shall fail,
The Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men.”

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was born in Portland, Maine—then still part of Massachusetts—on February 27, 1807, the second son in a family of eight children. His mother, Zilpah Wadsworth, was the daughter of a Revolutionary War hero. His father, Stephen Longfellow, was a prominent Portland lawyer and later a member of Congress.

Just wanted to touch base with you all to let you know that I may not be quite as visible around here as I usually am. I’m dealing with several health issues right now, including a return of my annoying eye infection, and while none of them are life-threatening or the like, they are slowing me down considerably. It’s possible I may not be around too often over the next few weeks, but I do plan to be rarin’ to go by the first of the year. (That’s my story, an’ I’m stickin’ to it!)
In January, I will be putting out a call for new guest bloggers and sharing some other ideas with the world at large, so stay tuned to see what (or who) is up next. I’m looking forward to 2024 being an easier year for me than this last one has been, fingers crossed, and an overall great one for all of us!
Wishing each and every one of you a wonderful holiday season, including a Merry Christmas and a very HAPPY New Year.

Thor is doing his happy dance today, and believe me, it’s quite a sight to behold! He’s delighted that winter is officially here, since–as a Norse god–he appreciates it more than any other season. Yep. He loves snow, though I confess, images of him going sledding or building a snowman just make me snicker. Please don’t tell him I said that, though. He does wield a mighty big hammer, after all. Instead, join me today as I share a whole bunch of icy and snowy memes for your viewing pleasure. (And his.)

It’s the Friday after Thanksgiving, and you know what that means in many homes, including ours … time to get the Christmas decorations down from the attic and begin trimming the tree. (Or at my house, all five of the trees!) Yep … Christmas is upon us, and as always, it makes my heart glad! Hope you are all looking forward to the holiday season as much as I am.
Things are already looking up around here. My computer issues healed themselves overnight, which made me very happy when I sat down in front of it today, armed with naught but a cup of Earl Grey. I discovered I could actually respond to comments again without jumping through hoops, so yay for that. When Mark returns from his morning 5-mile walk, we’ll get started bringing down the boxes and boxes of decorations, then Mark will get busy putting up the lights, while I start unpacking my huge collection of Santas.

Nothing makes me happier than the Christmas season, for ever so many reasons, and I hope you are all set to enjoy this time of year to the max. Let me be the first to wish each of you a wonderful holiday from start to finish!

Welp … WordPress is acting up today. I can’t respond to any comments from the blog page, and have to jump through all sorts of hoops to even say thanks to you good folks who let me know you enjoyed this week’s ThorsDaySmile post. So far, the only way I can respond is to hit the “Edit” button and reply from there. If any of you know how to fix this issue, I’d be grateful for help. At this point, I’m afraid to even try to upload this post, for fear I won’t be able to do that, either. *sigh”
In the famous words of Roseanne Roseannadanna, “It’s AAALLLL-ways somethin’!!”
Bear with me please, as I deal with these hiccups.
