#TisTheSeason – #ChristmasIsComing – #DecoratingBegins!

It’s the Friday after Thanksgiving, and you know what that means in many homes, including ours … time to get the Christmas decorations down from the attic and begin trimming the tree. (Or at my house, all five of the trees!) Yep … Christmas is upon us, and as always, it makes my heart glad! Hope you are all looking forward to the holiday season as much as I am.

Things are already looking up around here. My computer issues healed themselves overnight, which made me very happy when I sat down in front of it today, armed with naught but a cup of Earl Grey. I discovered I could actually respond to comments again without jumping through hoops, so yay for that. When Mark returns from his morning 5-mile walk, we’ll get started bringing down the boxes and boxes of decorations, then Mark will get busy putting up the lights, while I start unpacking my huge collection of Santas.

Nothing makes me happier than the Christmas season, for ever so many reasons, and I hope you are all set to enjoy this time of year to the max. Let me be the first to wish each of you a wonderful holiday from start to finish!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

    • I’m with you, Kymber! Christmas is my favorite time of the year, and I absolutely LOVE setting up all my trees and my Santa collection. Hope you have a wonderful time trimming your house and tree! 😀 ❤

      • Thank you so much! I hope you do, too. We live in an old Victorian Italianate, and we put up a fancy tree in the foyer, and another tree in the library. That one has ornaments on it from throughout the kids’ lives and is more homey. 🙂

        • I love multiple trees, Kymber. We have two full-sized ones, and several smaller ones throughout the house. One full-sized one is in the library, and decorated with multi-color lights and all sorts of ornaments, though largely various Santa Clauses. The other one is in the living room, and has only blue and white lights, and lots of blue and silver ornaments. I have a small tree on the counter in the guest bath, and a Wizard of Oz tree in the eat-in kitchen area, and a tiny tree with miniature ornaments on the kitchen pass-through shelf. I need a t-shirt that announces “One Can Never Have Too Many Christmas trees!” 😁😁😁

  1. I love Christmas trees and I’ve seen pictures of your beautiful and original ones – including the Wizard of Oz one. Have a glorious time, but pace yourself! ♥♥

    • Thanks so much, Trish. I’ll probably share more pics this year, too. (Brace yourself.) I will be forced to pace myself somewhat. Several things have conspired to interrupt our day, including the car won’t start, even though it has a brand new battery. Uh-oh. But one way or the other, those decorations WILL come down from the attic, and we will be getting the holiday underway. 😀 ❤

    • Thanks, Robbie! After hauling over 30 boxes of decorations down from the attic (some of which are quite heavy), I’m done for the day. But TOMORROW, I will start putting things out. It’s always fun to say hello to Santas I’ve had for many, many years! 😀 ❤

    • Hooray for you, Darlene. You’re actually ahead of us. It took a LONG time this morning just to get all 30 boxes of decorations down from the attic and distributed to the appropriate rooms. But that’s okay. I’ll get it all unpacked and on display over the next few days, and for me, the decorating is part of the fun. We had some rain today, so Mark didn’t get the lights up yet, but probably will be able to do them tomorrow. It takes me about a week to trim all our trees and fill the mantel and bookshelves with greenery and Santas and other Christmasy stuff. And YES! Let the season begin!!! 🎄😊🎄😊🎄

  2. I also love Christmas, Marcia, and we’ve had our tree up for two weeks. We always seem to travel so much during the holidays that I like to have it up early so I can enjoy it. Glad your computer issues are solved! I’ve also had difficulties commenting. WP has been extra screwed-up recently.

    • I agree WP has seemed extra screwed up recently, Teri. And not being able to RESPOND to a follower’s comment is soooo frustrating, isn’t it? I was delighted to find it all sorted out again today, yay!

I really am a bit OCD about Christmas, but the Friday after Thanksgiving is our traditional day to put up our trees and get started on the other decorations. And they don’t come down until after New Year’s. We got off to a slow start today as getting the 30 boxes down out of the attic took a lot longer than it used to. NOTE: I officially hereby DENY that it had anything to do with the fact that every box seemed to have gained about 30 pounds while in the attic this year. GAH. I don’t ever remember thinking of them as being that heavy before. 😉

I haven’t gotten any one project finished yet, but I’m having fun reuniting with my various Santas and vintage ornaments, regardless. And one of the trees is lit up, though I haven’t started putting all the doodads on it yet. That’s okay. It often takes me a whole week to get each room finished, and that’s fine. I love the whole process! 😀 ❤

    • Thanks, Priscilla. I’m enjoying every minute of it, though moving a wee bit slower than in years past, I’m afraid. Still … I’ll get it all done, and will love the process along with the results! 😀 ❤

    • Thanks, Jennie! That big guy is one of my favorite Santas in a HUGE collection of them. My daughter had flown in for Christmas that year, and had nothing left in her wallet for shopping. She saw this guy at our Publix grocery store and wheedled the manager into giving it to her for me as a Christmas present.😂😂😂

During the year, he sleeps beneath my bed, but I bring him out every Christmas (of course) to direct attention to our library tree, and in memory of the year that Erin used her wits rather than her (empty) wallet to be sure she had a gift for me. 😀 ❤

    • I think having grandkids to do it would be fun. Mine don’t leave near enough, so I have it all finished and ready when they visit for Christmas. But then again, I love doing it, so it’s usually not a chore for me. I will confess, though, this year it seems more labor intensive, probably because I’m another year older and slower than molasses. But I still love it! 😀 ❤

  3. Five trees! You’re crazy, Marcia, but I’ll bet your home is beautiful and wonderfully festive. We got our tree from our neighbor’s farm, but it has yet to be popped into the stand. Later today perhaps, before the rain comes. Have fun decorating, and if you get a chance, share photos! I’d love to see them. I might even get inspired! Hugs, my friend.

    • Yep … FIVE! Definitely OCD about Christmas. To be fair, though, only 2 are full sized: one in the library, with traditional multicolor lights and loads of Santas and other colorful ornaments. The other big one is in the living and is all blue, white, and silver. Then I have a 3′ tall Wizard of Oz tree, with Dorothy on top, and loads of WoZ ornaments. Next is a 3 foot tall wooden tree made of graduated “platforms” that I arrange Santas on, and #5 is a miniature tree in the guest bathroom with lots of teensy-tiny Santas on it.

Here is a link of a ton of pics I shared last year that will give you a hint of what kind of madness goes on around here. It even includes some of my own hand painted ornaments. Enjoy!! ❤️🎄❤️

    • Whatever fills your heart with the Christmas spirit, Tikno. I love all the lights and color and excitement, but that doesn’t work for everyone. The important thing is to do what has meaning for you and feels right. Merry Christmas! 😀 🎄 😀
