Just wanted to share what I found out at yesterday’s Echo Complete exam. I wish the news were great, but sadly, not so much. Not the WORST possible, you understand, but I definitely have some issues with my heart that will require monitoring and some changes in a few of my activities. Nothing TOO dire, for someone 80 years old who was already slowing down a bit, but I won’t be taking on any heavy physical tasks, nor running in any upcoming track events, or the like.😮 In other words, my heart is still beating, but I have been advised to slow down somewhat on some of my favorite things (like gardening, especially in Florida’s hot sun.) 😢
The good news is, I have been cleared to sit at the computer as long as I like. 😁 Apparently, exercising my fingers on the keyboard is an approved activity, so I can blog to my heart’s content. Also, reading for long periods is definitely allowed, as long as I don’t sit in the Comfy Chair the entire day. 😊
Now this advice came from the gals at the hospital who performed the Echo. I still have to have a consultation with my cardiologist, and she may have some other ideas of what’s allowed and what’s not. We’ll see. But as of right now, I don’t have to worry about blogging, or even WRITING, should I feel up to finishing my WIP one of these days. (Counting my blessings, here! 😉)
As I’ve always said, gettin’ old ain’t for sissies, & you can quote me on that. 😂

Thanks for the update. Our heart takes a lot of wear and tear over the years and it makes sense we need to slow down and let it rest. At least you have your reading, writing and blogging to keep your mind busy!! Hugs. xo

This could be a lot worse for sure. We octagenarians need to take it easy. No more skydives for me.

Some light indoor gardening would be okay. I guess what we have as indoor plants grow outside in your warm climate!
Reading and computer, that’s good news.

At least it’s not the worse news, Marcia. It’s a good list of allowable things to do 🙂 xo

Sorry it wasn’t the news you might have been hoping for, but at least you’ve had the tests and know not to toil outside in those ridiculous temperatures! Your beautiful roses will survive with a little care from Mark, and you have blessed access to both reading and writing. Don’t push yourself – just go with the flow (as a sissie, I find that helps!). ❤ ❤ ❤

AH, so sorry to hear it wasn’t better news, but sounds like with management you’ll be with use a while longer, which is just as well, as you still have more writing to get done!!!

Well, there go our plans for our buddy-run Marathon. On the other hand, reading to your heart’s content and writing are both pretty darn fun!

I think the test result could’ve been worse. Glad you are free to blog, read and write. My three favorite activities! ❤️ Hugs!

At least it’s not totally bad news and you can get back to using the computer and writing again ☺️

Good to hear, certainly the lesser of the evils. Glad you still have lots that you can do that you enjoy. Also good that you Had the test so you know exactly what’s going on.

I’m so happy to hear you can still do what you love which is read and blog. Like someone else mentioned, maybe you can find joy in caring for lots of indoor plants. That way you are out of that hot sun but still keeping things fresh and alive inside.

Your indoor plant suggestion is a fabulous idea for Marcia. Plants in every room would help oxygenate and clean the air-and that’s good for the heart, lungs, and body!

I’ve always enjoyed houseplants, Nancy and Jawsco, but have to limit mine to hanging plants these days, due to our four indoor cats enjoying them, too … as snacks! 😁 And we have gradually been switching over to lower maintenance shrubs, etc, in the garden. I have a few different palm-type plants on the back porch, too. The cats aren’t so interested in those. I’ll probably add a few more houseplants here and there, as well. It will all work out, I’m sure. It HAS to, because I’m not giving up on all of my greenery. Nope! Not gonna happen!! 😁

I don’t know much about house plants other than they’re good for indoor air. My daughter knows about them and will occasionally gift me a plant. Her house is like a rain forest. 🤣 I’m glad you’re contiuing to enjoy your greenery however you can!

Life is about making adjustments. While it’s unfortunate that you can’t enjoy gardening like you used to, at least there are quieter things that still give you pleasure.
I would encourage you to still get outside when you can, even if it is simply sitting on the patio to read a book.

I know it wasn’t the result you wanted, but you can still do some of your favorite activities!

Mixed news, I guess, Marcia. I’m sorry to hear that you’ll need to stop some favorite activities (gardening and marathons) but delighted to hear that the WIP may be getting a little love. ❤ Start exercising those fingers!

Stay strong, Marcia!!! It’s ‘good’ news-ish. Do what they say and don’t overdo! It’s so easy to feel the need to DO IT ALL EVERYDAY. So SO glad that you are staying on top of this!

Sending you all the best as you make these adjustments and let your fingers do the walking until further notice. Take good care of you. 💓

The news may not be great, but it certainly is not bad. Will you have to have a bypass? I had a valve replaced after monitoring my heart for years. Best to you, Marcia, and type away!
