AAARRRGGGHHH!
Again???!!!

Welp, it looks like Hurricane Milton is going to pass directly over us on its way from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic. (We are almost on the east coast line just a few miles before the storm would head out  into the deep blue sea.) 

This seems to be a pretty strong storm, too, having reached a Category 5 level for a bit, before dropping back down to a Cat 4. We don’t need it! But then again, who does?

I feel bad for everyone in the path of Milton, including us! As a heads up, I’ll not likely be posting more until this thing has gone on out to sea to die a much-deserved and LONELY death, but I promise to update you as soon as it’s over. 

BTW, am I the only one who keeps thinking of this storm as “Uncle Miltie?”  (If so, I need to add a few more elderly sorts to my Friends list. 😉😁)

    • So glad I’m not alone with my far distant memories, Bill. (But we watched Uncle Miltie all the time, and he’s pretty much etched into my memory bank, now. 😁) I suspect it’s the first hurricane named Milton, too, as my understanding is that they don’t repeat names. I know I don’t remember another one, so I’m going with that. 😉 Now to hope that Uncle Miltie is gentle with us … or at least doesn’t ravage the whole state! Urk.

    • Workin’ on it, Mike. It’s not our first rodeo down here, but you never know what new tricks the storm might pull on you, so you have to be prepared for just about anything! Thanks for the well wishes! See you on the other side. 👍🏻😊

      Will touch base again when it’s all over, unless we’re without power for a few days. (Man, I’m getting more nervous by the minute. Gleep.)

  6. I’ve seen someone from Florida on Facebook refer to this horrific hurricane as Uncle Miltie. I’m old enough to get it! I’m sending you and all Floridians my best wishes and keeping y’all in my prayers… from North Carolina. None of us need another hurricane this season.

  13. I’ve been thinking of you, Marcia. 🙏🏻 This is so worrisome. My grandson is at the University of Miami, but I think that area is pretty safe. My cousin, however, lives in Tarpon Springs, and I haven’t heard if he has evacuated yet. I’m continuing my prayers for all. ❤️

    • I hope your cousin has evacuated, Gwen. I agree Miami is probably safe during this one, but I would not want to ride out a hurricane in Tarpon Springs!

      Your prayers are much appreciated! The storm can certainly cause damage inland as well as on the coast, so everyone still here needs to be alert and very careful until this thing is history!

      Will touch base as soon as the wind has died down and we can assess any damage … unless, of course, we have no power/internet, which is very possible. Hope everyone in the Milton’s path stays safe!!

  14. This one sure ramped up fast. Last time I looked, they were forecasting 180 mph winds at sea which thankfully might lessen as it reached land. The storm surge may pose the greatest risk.

    • It did ramp up fast, Pete, and here’s hoping those wretched winds slow down GREATLY before it hits land. (And storm surges are one reason you couldn’t PAY me to live on the coast!)

      Will post an update as soon as Milton has passed by and any power outages have been fixed. See you then, fingers crossed!
