Just wanted to give everyone a heads up, in case you haven’t seen all the weather alerts. Hurricane Idalia is due to hit Florida tomorrow, as anything from a Category 2 to a Category 4 storm. As always, predicting exactly where it will come ashore and how strong it will be is tricky, but right now, it looks like our area will start getting hurricane force winds over 75 mph tonight, and the actual landfall of the full storm will happen sometime tomorrow.
Current predictions look like we won’t get the full brunt of the storm here (just north of Orlando) but my son & family are in the direct path. Thankfully, they don’t live on the coast where the biggest danger is storm surge flooding, which is predicted to be as much as 8 to 12 feet. But these storms can wreak terrible damage no matter where they hit. At the very least, there will likely be widespread power outages across much (if not most) of the state. The power companies are pretty good at getting it restored fairly quickly, but you never know. If I disappear for a few days, it will likely be due to losing power and internet.
I hope you’ll join me in sending your prayers and best wishes to everyone in harm’s way. It looks like Idalia could continue heading north after it leaves Florida, heading straight into Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina!
With any luck, I’ll be back as soon as it’s all over.
Hoping for the best for you and your family and all of us who might be affected by hurricane Idelia.

Prayers and fingers crossed for you and everyone in its path. It’s looking like we will get a touch of it around Thursday as it heads out to sea.

I’m praying that it loses power and fades away. You’ve had more than your fair share of hurricane bad luck. Praying that the family are safe, too. Time to batten down the hatches, get out the Kindle and shut out the real world. ❤ ❤ ❤

I truly hope everyone took heed and got out. Those waters are warmer than they should be, and I fear that storm is going to strengthen over night. Sending protective energy to your loved ones and everyone in its path.

We didn’t get much here, just the outer bands. I’m guessing you got about the same. Hope your son and family are okay!

We were super lucky, Kass! So glad you were, too. Most of central Florida was spared anything but a bit of rain and a couple of gusts of wind here or there. Makes me remember how glad I am that we were never even tempted to buy a house along either coast. Storm surge is terrifying!
Here’s hoping we don’t take another hit this year. One is MORE than enough! 😀 ❤

Oh my, Marcia, you get these storms every year. Has it always been like that?

I know you saw my response on another post, Robbie, so I’ll just say, yes. It’s always been like that, darn it. But those of us in central Florida were lucky this time, for sure. No damaging winds at all. Those who risked building homes along the coast paid a high price with the always dangerous storm surge, I’m afraid. Unbelievable flooding and damage! *sigh*

We fared very well, indeed, Jennie, especially compared to those who live along the coast. (So glad I’ve never been tempted to risk that.) Thanks for the well wishes, and hope you have a great day! 😀 ❤

Been thinking of you as I watched the storm on maps. I hope the storms didn’t leave destructions your way. I would guess you don’t have power and sending you love and light. ❤

Thanks, Debby. The storm pretty much stayed over on the coast (where it caused significant issues) and left Central Florida alone. We didn’t lose power, or even have leaves to rake up afterward, so we were truly lucky! 😀 ❤ I think the folks in the path of the surge and in north Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina had a much rougher time of it and are probably still dealing with clean-up, etc. Happy for us, but sad for them! 😦
