  3. I woke up feeling deflated today…and not just from my migraine. When I watched the news, the horror and disbelief of that fateful day in September struck me again. A lot of Americans suffered PTSD after witnessing the tragic event. Despite the passage of time, I think the trauma remains, lingering in the collective subconscious of the American people. That would explain the escalating anger and divisiveness in our country post 911. PTSD can cause people to “act out.”

    • I understand, Linda. I have to say, I’ve only been able to watch a few minutes here and there, and of course, I wanted to observe the moments of silence. But I cry every single time I see any of the footage, and when I hear all those names being read. And hearing Danny Boy is guaranteed to make me sob. (That, and Taps. Every time.) So I had to parcel my observation out in small bits, or I’d have been overwhelmed. But I’ll never, EVER forget.

  4. Beautiful tribute––love the candle. If only our tribute to those who lost their lives when the Twin Towers fell would be a rekindling of the unity we all felt in that moment of national sorrow.
