One smart equine, all right . . . and he has a sweet tooth, too! 😀

Haha! Love it, Larry, and sorry I didn’t see your pending comment earlier. (I don’t get a notice from WordPress about them anymore, so I miss them, sometimes.) BTW, around here, horseflies are out for BLOOD, mostly. I wonder what’s in that feeder???? 😯

that’s the lesser-spotted hairy-muzzled nectar thief, ‘equinus criminalis’ 😉

FINALLY! A definitive ID!!! Thank you, Debby. I’ll be watching my own feeder very closely, so I can add this bird to my Life List. For a birder, there’s no bigger thrill than that, you knowt! 😀 😀 😀

It makes hovering a bit tricky, but at least none of the other hummingbirds are a threat to him. 🙂

Let me know if you spot any of these up in your neck of the woods, Kass. It’d be worth a drive (with my binoculars and spotting scope at hand) to see one of these up close and personal! 🙂

I’ve seen them in Maryland, in my girlfriend’s backyard. She loves hummingbirds, even the big-snouted furry kind.

Maryland’s pretty far away. Maybe I’ll wait for migration, and catch him when he’s galloping . . . I mean, flying . . . south for the winter. 😀

It’s a broad-snout hummer-moose. That photo was probably taken in Colorado! 🙂

Oh, dear. We have two distinct ID’s offered. I was just starting to think of it as a “lesser-spotted hairy-muzzled nectar thief, ‘equinus criminalis’” Now, I’m really confused. 😦 I’ll have to go googling and see if I can find photos for comparison. (It’d be easier if I could see what color its wings are).
