Good News and…GOOD NEWS!

(My inspiration for the Painter farmhouse,
taken right off my Inspiration Board.)

You can’t go wrong with that, now can you? πŸ™‚

First, let me apologize for being MIA for so long, but after a week of better than expected progress from my foot surgery, I hit a snag when I developed an infection in the incision. 😦 Back to ground zero, and feeling lousy on top of it. Saw the doc again today, though, and while the infection isn’t clearing up as fast as we’d hoped, it looks much, much better, and is far less painful than it had gotten. Changing to a new antibiotic, lots of new instructions, and after some minor debriding, it looks and feels MUCH better. I’m allowed to do a lot more things, and just have to remember to stop and elevate my foot when it’s bothering me. At least two more weeks in the surgical shoe, until the bone is healed a bit more, and then I’ll be able to take another step forward, pardon the pun.

And now for the really good news. In spite of not being able to sit at the “real” computer, my makeshift office around my Comfy Chair and my ASUS tablet did the trick. I was able to keep editing with Caitlin, and I’m very happy to announce, we finished our work on Finding Hunter yesterday. Thank you, Caitlin, for your patience as I muddled through this inconvenient recuperation, and for all your hard work as well. I would never try this without you!

I have to do some final tidying up, then aΒ last read-through, then format the book for Kindle and upload to amazon.Β  Once that’s done, I’ll format for CreateSpace, and get that print version out there, too. (I have local folks asking for that one already, and want to be sure it’s in their hands by September.)

So…steel foot-pins or no steel foot-pins, I’m ahead of my schedule right now, and really pleased about that, and I plan to try to catch up around here very soon. I’ve missed you guys! And that’s it from me. For now. πŸ™‚

my idea of what Hunter Painter looks like.)2

    • Oh, Ned! You would not believe how inspired that board can get me! And since Finding Hunter is a follow up to Swamp Ghosts, I even got to leave up my pictures of THOR a bit longer. I could be in danger of becoming OVER-inspired, I suppose, but I’ll take my chances! πŸ˜ƒ

    • Thank you, JennyBeanses! I think about you every morning, as I figure out which flavor of my Adagio teas I’m going to start the day with. πŸ˜€ Today was Willow’s Potpourri Garden, with lavender and rose petals. Oh, yum!!!

Yep, I’m busy mending. It’s getting to the point where I’m held together with duct tape and Krazy Glue. πŸ˜€ But I’m still truckin’, so I reckon it’s all good!

    • That’s funny…that’s exactly what I say every time I glance up from my computer, and see his face watching me from the Inspiration Board. πŸ˜€

Truthfully, this is an actor whose later pictures (sadly) don’t have quite the same clear-eyed innocence that this shot captured, but this one was wonderful. He’s just looking straight into your soul, here, and that’s exactly the type of man Hunter Painter is in Finding Hunter. As soon as I saw the picture, I knew he was perfect. Poor Hunter. He has to battle a few demons in this book, for sure. I’m not nice to him at times. 😯

Good to see you here, BFF! I’m gonna live through this dang procedure in spite of myself. I’ve been through worse than this and survived, so by golly, I WILL prevail! That’s my story, an’ I’m stickin’ to it! πŸ˜€ Thanks for dropping by, and have a great rest of the week!!

  1. So happy to hear you’re on the mend, Marcia. Like I always say, you’re an inspiration. Many would go into pity-party mode, but not you. Woman after my own heart! I’ve been MIA too lately, trying to get another ms ready to submit. Love your inspiration boards! I’ve never used them, but I know many who do. Your board is VERY inspirational. *wink*

    • Hi, Sue! Thanks for your kind comments. Oh, believe me, I have my Pity Party moments. Being set back on my butt after this infection started triggered a few good ones. I was getting very depressed, being stuck here alone, foot elevated and iced, and unable to do anything…even shuffle/hop/creep to the bathroom…without pain. GAH. I wailed a time or two. But then I sucked it up, and remembered that this is a very small moment in the Grand Scheme of Things. (Reading about the unbelievable journey Sue Vincent’s son, Nick, has been through was one of the things that put my little problem in perspective. His courage and undaunted spirit are remarkable! I gave myself a smack over the head, and remembered to feel grateful for having had 71 years mostly trauma-free. And I’m planning on MORE. Fingers crossed.)

Good for you with your new manuscript. Please keep us posted on the latest developments with all of your projects.

Inspiration boards are great. They give me visuals when I’m trying to describe something, but they also set the tone for what I’m working on. Surrounded by photos of my sleepy little town of Riverbend, and pictures of the folks who live there, as I envision them, really makes my job easier. Plus, some of the photos are very nice to look at. Very. Nice. πŸ˜€

Good to see you! One of these days soon, I’m going to get caught up on reading my favorite blogs, including yours. Have a great week!

    • Hi, Louis! Sorry I missed this, and thank you for your well wishes. I’m coming along pretty good, now tht the infection is under control. But there IS a lot of pain by the end of the day. Doctor says three full months for the bone to heal completely, and I’m limited in what I can do, still. But overall, that’s no big deal. I’ll soon be able to tap dance again. Oh, wait. That’s right. I couldn’t tap dance before! (OMG, that old chestnut never fails to make me laugh. I’m such a nerd.)

Hope all is well with you? Always good to see you here.
