This is a really good blog post. It reminds us as writers that we shouldn’t bore our readers with superficial information that doesn’t move the plot along. I’ve often read one star novel reviews on Amazon that begin with the word,”Boring.” I hope mine never do.

I liked the article, too, Evelyn. I really have to fight this issue. I’m a long-time fan of books with delicious slow build-ups and lovely descriptions. I want to stay true to my own style and voice, but strike a happy medium with enough activity and plot surprises to keep from boring readers. It’s hard to do. But for me, a well-described setting is so important, I refuse to give it up and go for the current trend of bam, bam, bam action. So finding a balance is a challenge, but I’m working on it. And I do love the line about Plot being a shark that always has to keep moving. That image brings her point home, doesn’t it?
Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment. Pass this along to your readers, as well, or to anyone you think might enjoy it. Thanks!
