It’s time for another weekly recap from two of my favorite blogs. You folks who’ve been following awhile know that I like to share the weekly goodies from both #Story Empire and Sally Cronin’s Smorgasbord blog, because … GOOD STUFF! MONDAY: Harmony Kent starts the week off with a post introducing her newest series. The post, How to Use Prologues, Part 1, Overview, is well worth checking out, whether you’re Pro or Con on the issue. As a person who thoroughly enjoys prologues when they are done well, I’m very interested in this series and will be following closely. Check out Harmony’s post HERE.

WEDNESDAY: D. L. Finn pops in mid-week to talk about Writing and Book Covers. She has some very handy tips for those who’d like create their own, and even though I have mine done by an excellent graphics designer who’s a very good friend, I found this post extremely useful, especially for those interested in using Canva. A most remarkable thing happened on Thursday.
For those who weren’t aware (like me), Thursday was the official
International Day of Awesomeness.

While I may have been oblivious about this day,
the good folks over at Story Empire were not!

Nope. These wonderfully talented and sharing authors decided to celebrate the day in grand style by letting the world know exactly who they thought deserved to be honored in all her awesomeness:

Now, I can’t speak for everyone, but I suspect that most of us who spend a lot of time blogging and/or writing are very familiar with Sally and her fabulous Smorgasbord blog, and have probably been the beneficiaries of her support and encouragement many times. I know I certainly have! And if you missed out on all of these great tributes to this lovely lady, I do hope you’ll stop by her blog to read her post about how she spent her Thursday, and what it meant to her.

WEDNESDAY: Mae Clair’s mid-week post entitled Writing Inquiry Letters is one you won’t want to miss if you’re considering giving trad publishing a try. I would have NO idea where to start, and I suspect I’m not alone in that, but Mae’s post will put you on the path to doing so in a way that won’t scare potential agents off. Check it out HERE.

FRIDAY: To wrap up the week Joan Hall shares some great reminders (and some things you may never even have thought of) in her post entitled Blogging Etiquette. I really love this post, as it is so important if you want to be part of the blogging community. (And she also reminded me of something I do quite unintentionally that I need to watch out for.) Moving right along with our new series, today’s guest is my good friend, Harmony Kent. I know you are going to enjoy (and be impressed by) her Ten Things list, so let’s make her welcome! Take it away, Harmony!

Ten Things You May Not Know About Me

I’m legless, all the time (oh, the fun of being an amputee and getting to make the jokes)
My name gives me something to live up to … but then I’d tell you I’m always harmonious … honest!
We have a presence in our house that likes to ‘borrow’ things, frequently
I talk to myself, a lot
I also answer back!
I was born in 2013 … well, um, the writer in me was. My errant grey hairs might tell you otherwise
If I’m not writing, I’m reading. If I’m not reading, I’m doing cross stitch. And failing all of that, I’m usually getting myself into all sorts of mischief
I’m quite short, at 5’ 2”. Luckily, at age 18, I had a growth spurt of about 4 inches, or I’d be a pixie and getting into even more mischief
Probably, I’m more famous for my laugh than for my writing
I have a habit of searching for my glasses, which are generally found perched on the end of my nose. If I admitted to my other shenanigans, I’d end up writing a book!

Author Harmony Kent

After spending around thirteen years as an ordained Buddhist monk, living in a Zen Buddhist temple, and six years after a life-changing injury following a surgical error, Harmony Kent returned to the world at the tender age of forty.

Now, she is famous for her laughter, and has made quite the name for herself … she’s also, um, a writer … and fairly well known for that too. She’s even won a few awards. Harmony lives in rural Cornwall with her ever-present sense of humour, adorable husband, and quirky neighbours.

Harmony is passionate about supporting her fellow authors.
