Today, I have the pleasure of being a guest on Chris The Story Reading Ape’s blog, and I hope you guys will enjoy checking it out. Many of you know I came to writing quite late in life, but there may be a few new tidbits tucked in here for you. Hope you enjoy the post, and please remember to share far and wide. My sincerest thanks to Chris for providing this opportunity, and happy reading to you all!

Thank you, Chris, for inviting me to be a guest on your blog today. It’s a real pleasure to have an opportunity to meet some of your followers!
When I was five years old, there were two things I loved more than anything else in the world—reading and wildlife.
My love of reading led to a profound desire to become a writer, but that was thwarted early on by well-meaning (but possibly misguided) parents who thought it a foolish career path. Had I been a child of a more recent era, I might have rebelled, but in the 40s and early 50s, that behavior wasn’t quite so common.
Happily, my love of wildlife was allowed to run amuck, and has played an important role in my life, in one form or another, ever since. From being a volunteer at the Florida Audubon Society and the Central Florida Zoo, to…

This Guy Would Love to See You There!
(Note: This is an alligator, honest. No crocs up here.  😀 )
I’ve been unable to keep up with all my blogging due to everything that’s been going on since Irma came a-calling, but I am starting back up with one of my favorite things: my nature blog for St. Johns River Eco Tours. Today’s post on #NotesFromThe River is about an upcoming event a week from Saturday. (January 13) Hope you’ll check it out and share far and wide, and if any of you are in the central Florida area, hope you’ll consider coming to see Doug and I at DeBary Hall Historic Site for this fun program. Thanks for helping spread the word.

A great interview with Mary Smith today, on Hugh’s Views & News. Check it out! 🙂 Also, be sure to check out her latest book, Donkey Boy & Other Stories. Happy Reading!

Couldn’t resist sharing these. My four-year-old grandson, seeing snow for the first time, in Charleston, SC! Not a LOT of snow, but to him, it’s magical. Â I can tell from the expression on his face, he’s about to throw that first snowball at his mommy. (Or possibly, his daddy.) Here’s one kid who’s thoroughly enjoying the cold.
Can you remember your first snowball?

Just a reminder that today is the last day of my $.99 sale. In fact, I’m not planning any more sales this year until at least mid-summer. Download your copies now, and save! Happy Reading! 🙂
Wake-Robin Ridge Book 1
A Boy Named Rabbit: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 2
Harbinger: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 3
Swamp Ghosts: Riverbend Book 1
Finding Hunter: Riverbend Book 2
That Darkest Place: Riverbend Book 3

Because I believe 2018 is going to be a banner year, I’m starting it off with a bang! No, not fireworks–a sale! All six of my novels will be on sale for the AMAZINGLY LOW PRICE (says she, in her best pitchman’s voice) of $.99 each!
If you’ve been meaning to check out the spooky adventures of Mac, Sarah, and Little Rabbit, now’s your chance to get Books 1, 2, and 3 of the series for a total cost of only $2.97!
And if the eccentric Painter Brothers, the handsome Gunnar Wolfe, the no-nonsense Maggie Devlin, and the New Age power force, Willow Greene are more your cup of tea (Willow would LOVE that reference), you can get Books 1, 2, and 3 of the Riverbend series for the same amount. Just $2.97 for all three books!
However you do it, $.99 a book is a bargain for sure, and probably the last time this offer will roll around until the Fourth of July. Don’t miss out!
Whew. Now I’m tired of blowing whistles and banging drums and talking in a loud, obnoxious car salesman kind of voice. I can do no more. The rest is up to you. Hope you’ll take advantage, but now I have to get busy writing Wake-Robin Ridge Book 4.

Why the Schrödinger effect? Because words on a page, be that in a book or on a screen, reflect the living imagination of the writer, but are dead until a reader’s imagination gives them life.
For the writer, no matter what the platform, there are few things as satisfying…or as scary… as pressing ‘publish’. Writing can be both a joy and a source of panic and frustration, especially when it seems that writers these days not only need to be able to tell a story, they also need to be tech-savvy, social media and marketing buffs who never run out of coffee or inspiration.
There are literally thousands of excellent technical and professional articles on writing, blogging, publishing and the rest out there. There are posts that inspire, reassure or let you know you are not alone. According to the stats, the posts below are ten most-viewed writing related posts…
