Saw these images earlier and thought I would share, for those who have no idea just how horrifying a hurricane can be. Some of them astonished ME, and I’ve lived in “Hurricane Country” all my life. I hope we don’t see another like Helene for a long, long time!

Chimney Rock & Asheville North Carolina were hit exceptionally hard. See for yourself:

How terrible. Thanks for sharing. We have seen some coverage on the news even here in Spain.

Pictures don’t do it justice, I’m afraid. Such a terrible thing for these folks to have gone through!

What a horrible devastation. The poor people living there need a lot of help to recover all these things. Thanks for sharing the information, Marcia. The last weeks i had inner fight with the virus. Please be careful. This new version isn’t harmless. Best wishes, Michael

I feel the same way Denise. It’s hard to grasp just how much damage was done, and how many lives have been impacted.

So, so horrifying. The devastation is shocking and surely will take a very long time until recovery is complete. 😢

I agree on both counts, Gwen, and some things will never, ever be the same. (Especially families who have lost loved ones.) SO sad.

How they’ll restore utilities is beyond me. I hope most people whose homes were earmarked to be hit by the brunt of the storm temporarily relocated. I pray for the ones who didn’t. Thanks for sharing, Marcia.

I don’t know how they will restore much of anything in some of the areas. It surely won’t happen quickly, though. I’m praying for everyone impacted, too, Nancy. It’s simply awful!

So much damage – just devastating. Son #1 and his fiance got engaged in early August at Chimney Rock.

Wonderful place for a romantic engagement! Chimney Rock has been a special place to me for a very long time. My husband and I renewed our wedding vows there some years ago, and I’ve vacationed up there many, many times. It’s truly a beautiful and inspiring place, and I hate that it took such a terrible hit from this storm!

I’ve seen similar images and more here on TV in Canada. I’m quite sure this doesn’t begin to cover the scope of the devastation. It’s just horrific. I feel for the many people whose lives have been changed forever.
