Some years ago, I used to share a series called #Mid-Week Point of View, and I thought it might be fun to rerun a few of my favorite posts from back then. This is one I felt could be very timely, since in these stressful days, it’s easy to forget that life is still filled with miracles. Hope it gives you a smile, and reminds you that sometimes you have to remember to look for the good stuff!

Wood Stork on the Wing
Some years ago (too many to count), I developed a little habit I call “looking for the miracle.” It started as a small superstition that if I saw something truly beautiful or uncommon at the start of a long car trip, it was a sign all was well in the world, and I’d get where I was going, unscathed. Yeah, I know it was silly, but it made me feel surprisingly good, and you know what else? I found that when I was actively watching for them, small miracles showed themselves to me nearly everywhere I looked.

Of course, with my long-established love of nature, I often looked for special birds or wildlife along the roadside, as an omen of good luck. I’d spot a bald eagle soaring overhead (always an inspirational sight), and say to myself, “There! That’s this trip’s miracle.”

Or I’d see the summer’s first swallowtail kite, my very favorite bird of prey, and feel so happy, I just knew it was good omen, and my trip would go smoothly.

Over the years, I’ve spotted all sorts of interesting animals and birds along the highways and byways of my travels. A flock of wild turkey is always a good sign, to me . . .

. . . and my first Florida sighting of a half-grown black bear made me smile for the next twently or thirty miles.

Over time, I saw other things that I counted among my miracles. Rainbows are always good, and double rainbows mean my trip home will go well, too.

A solid purple field of wild phlox takes my breath away as it announces its miracle status in no uncertain terms.

A crested caracara sitting in a tree,

deer grazing in a field,

a baby donkey standing in the front yard of a farmhouse–all have given me a sense of the magical, the beautiful, the miraculous, at one time or another.
You may count other things as your good omens, but whatever speaks to you in that way, I promise if you make it a point to look for the miracles around you, you’ll find them. And whatever you’re doing at the time will suddenly seem happier, taking on new significance.
Miracles abound, if we but open our eyes. Try it. You just might be amazed.

I love your idea of looking for miracles. I think people can be miracles, especially babies and children. Getting a smile from a young child is wonderful. That’s a good sign for me. Thanks Marcia

Oooh, yes! I agree, Kay, and nothing is a bigger miracle than a happy, laughing child! Grandchildren are the best miracles, EVER, and being a Granny has given me some of the loveliest moments of my life. It’s wonderful that you recognize the miraculous in babies and children.
Thank you so much for stopping by to share your thoughts today! Here’s to a great weekend ahead!

What a lovely idea!
I see four little furry miracles every day when I wake up to my four lovely pooches.
Yesterday and this morning, I saw my first ever hummingbird moth. It was amazing!

Thanks, Jackie. You and your husband travel with four miracles for company every day, so that’s a great reminder, isn’t it? And spotting a bird, butterfly, animal, or flower you’ve never seen before is definitely a miracle! You are blessed with a lifestyle that lends itself to seeing new things every day, and that’s yet another miracle. Yay!
Thanks so much for stopping by today and taking a moment to share your thoughts, my friend. And here’s to a miraculous weekend ahead, too! 😀 ❤

Thank you so much, life is full of little miracles.
We’ve just found out that where we’re staying in Bulgaria is not only an archaeological and naturalistic gem, it’s where the Roman poet Ovid sought refuge when he was banished by Emperor Augustus.
Wishing you a miraculous weekend too, my dear friend! xx

Wow, that’s pretty cool, Jackie! A miracle of “historic” proportions, you might say. I’m sure you’ll see more as the day goes on!
Thanks for the well wishes, and enjoy your miraculous surroundings!

And, the baby donkey picture is so cute 😍!

Yep, we all need to be on the watch for miracles of every type, and nature definitely presents us with some fantastic ones. So glad you enjoyed this reminder today, Ganga, and I agree on the donkey, too. “Cute” all over the place!
Thanks so much for stopping by today, and taking a moment to share your thoughts. And here’s to a wonderful, miracle-filled weekend ahead! 😀 ❤

I so get this. That little donkey is so cute!! If I heard a favourite song on the radio at the start of a trip, I knew it would be a good day. It’s true, miracles are everywhere!!

Oh, I like the “song miracle” idea, too, Darlene. Music is such an uplifting thing to begin with, and nothing like the memories and emotions a favorite song can bring forth. With all that’s going on in the world today, it’s easy to focus on only the negatives. Looking for a miracle or two each day is a perfect way to change our focus and uplift our spirits. So glad you agree, and very happy you stopped by today to share your thoughts!
Here’s to a great weekend ahead, my friend! 😀 ❤

It has worked for me every time! Even on my way to work, a favourite song played on the radio, and it was a great day. Have a super weekend your self. Hugs. xo

Glad you enjoyed this flashback post, Beth, and I agree. Miracles are all around us, and it’s a shame to let so many of them go unnoticed. Being on the alert for them and celebrating the ones that come along can make a huge difference in our lives. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves to be aware of the good things in life, or we’ll miss out on them.
Thanks so much for stopping by to say hello, and here’s to spotting many miracles each day! 😀 ❤

Great post, Marcia. I love the idea, and the photos. It also reminds me of the George Strait song, “I Saw God Today” https://g.co/kgs/nZya7r

So glad you enjoyed the post, Jeanne, and thanks for sharing the link to the song. I’ll be checking it out shortly. There have been times in my life when looking for miracles has made all the difference in my ability to cope with setbacks. It’s something that’s easy to forget, though, so I figured a reminder wouldn’t hurt.
Here’s hoping you spot a few miracles today, too, my friend, and a few more over the weekend ahead! 😀 ❤

The phlox (and poppies?) photo is especially beautiful. Oh, and that donkey, awww! I have learned these last few years to look and listen for little messages from God. You’re right, they do make you feel good.

It was actually phlox and more phlox, Vera. They come in lots of colors. When I was growing up (in the Dark Ages), fields like this one were fairly common. Not so much these days, as the fields themselves have disappeared under various types of construction. 😦 So seeing something like this now would be an even bigger miracle, I think. And the donkey is too cute for words, huh?
I’m glad you look for those messages from God, so they don’t get lost in the shuffle of negative activity that is so plentiful lately. If we just remember to open our eyes and look, the miracles are still out there, and they can still life your spirits and remind you of the things that truly matter.
Thanks so much for stopping by today, and here’s to a miracle-filled weekend ahead!

I love this! If you are actively seeking something miraculous in the everyday, you’re likely to find it and your examples are perfect. It’s easy not to notice the everyday miracles which means you don’t get that boost that comes when you take the time to appreciate them. Many thanks, Marcia, and may your weekend be filled with miracles. ❤ ❤ ❤

Thanks so much, Trish, and I’m happy that you see it the same way I do. Miracles are out there, if WE are open to receiving (and appreciating) them. And the boost is so worth it!
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts! Here’s hoping your day and weekend (and WAY beyond) will be filled with miracles, too! 🤗❤️🤗

A great article, Marcia. I too enjoy nature and although confined to home, I’m an avid backyard bird watcher. Love them.

I’m glad you enjoyed the post, wp, and while I’m not totally confined at home, I get out a lot less than I used to. I have a big tray feeder set up outside my library window, and the shenanigans of my yard birds always keeps me amused. We also have a marsh rabbit that visits the yard a few times a week, and it’s so darn cute, it never fails to bring a smile.
Always nice to meet another “bird nerd,” as I call myself. Thanks so much for stopping by today and taking a moment to share your thoughts.

This is a wonderfully uplifting message if one is prone to worry. During my morning walk, six beautiful deer (adults with young ones) crossed my path. I stood and admired their cautious and graceful movements. Immediately after, a skunk with an arched back scurried past me and I took off! So I have somewhat of a mixed message from nature today. Thanks, Marcia! 🙂

I’d say that both events were miracles, Nancy. The beauty of the deer, and the fact that the skunk didn’t spray you! 😂😂😂 Seriously, skunks are really pretty, and if you give them lots of room, they aren’t such bad guys.
I’m glad you enjoyed today’s first message, and I hope you’ll enjoy the one I just posted, too. Thanks for stopping by and taking a moment to share your morning miracle(s) with me, and here’s to more during the weekend ahead! 😀 ❤

Looking for them is the secret, don’t you think? They’re out there if we but pay attention and recognize all the blessings we receive each day. It’s easy to forget, what with all the sturm und drang going on, but it’s worth the effort, so good for you!
Glad you enjoyed the post, and thanks so much for stopping by to let me know! Have a super weekend, filled with miracles, Denise! 😀 ❤

I love what you said, Marcia, that when you actively look for them, small miracles showed up everywhere. I do the same. I actively look for something seem impossible. It turned out to be possible. It amazed me and brightens my day.

That’s great to know, Miriam. And I agree. The secret is in opening our eyes and our hearts, and being receptive to the miracles out there. The more we look for them, the more we’ll see!

So glad you liked the post, Pete, and for me, wildlife in general is miraculous. An unexpected sighting of something beautiful or interesting seems doubly miraculous. (And it’s hard to NOT love that little donkey, isn’t it?)

So glad you enjoyed this rerun, Jennie. I felt like the timing for it was perfect, given how stressful things have become of late for many of us. Though we might have to look a bit more carefully, the miracles are still out there, every day, and I hope this post will encourage folks to actively look for them.
Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a moment to share your thoughts, and I hope you have a wonderful (miracle-filled) weekend! 😀 ❤
