  1. Well, some of those were a bit surprising! Eliot’s green face powder? No idea where he got that idea from!
I was unaware of the problems that James Joyce had and so I can understand his quirks and am impressed that he was able to write so prolifically like that. Many thanks for sharing – I’m off to find me some sharp pencils and overripe apples. 😀

    • I’m still pondering the green face powder, Trish. Maybe he was channeling the Wicked Witch of the West? No clue! And I can understand the crayons thing with James Joyce, but not the lying face down on the bed part.

I’m glad you enjoyed these, and hope those overripe apples work for you! (Apples don’t last long enough around here to get overripe, as I eat them every day. Every. Day. 😀 )

    • Yes, I’d say those two quirked themselves right into needing therapy territory! 😯 😀 Glad you enjoyed these, Mae. I have several writing infographics to share now and then, and figured this was a good one to start with. Thanks for stopping by and taking a moment to say hello. Have a great week! 😀

    • Glad you enjoyed these tidbits, Jan. And I thought *I* was weird! 😀 I eat a Granny Smith apple every single night, but I never once thought of saving them for writing purposes. I’m guessing the cores would decompose even quicker. Maybe I should quit putting them in the compost bin and start putting them in my desk drawer. 😀 😀 😀

  2. What a fun collection, Marcia! Who knew writers were such a quirky bunch? After reading through the examples, I’m feeling pretty ordinary. Thank you for sharing my friend. 😃

    • *raises hand* “Me, me! I knew we were!” Or at least, I certainly suspected, just based on my OWN odd behaviors. Though I have to say a couple of these were pretty bizarre, especially the green face powder. Still trying to picture that. (It ain’t purty! Margaret Hamilton as the Wicked Witch of the West comes to mind every time!) 😀

Thanks for stopping by, Gwen, and I’m glad you enjoyed learning the truth about some famous authors. 😀

    • I suspect most if not all writers are to some degree, Michael. Though not ME, of course. My “habits” are merely for fun and because watching animal videos every day makes me relax and puts me in the zone. And the same for working crosswords puzzles, but not until every edge of the newspaper has been lined up and it has been folded to perfection. (Okay, I don’t really watch animal videos every day, or even every week, though I do enjoy them how and then. But I admit, the crossword puzzle thing is true. I can’t work on something that’s all crookedy, after all. 😀 )

Thanks for stopping by, Michael. Always nice to see you here! 😀

  3. There may be some OCD issues in there (12 sharp pencils, gotta pick the fleas off), but other “techniques” are just strange. The crayon thing and the green face powder take the cake. I guess all these authors did whatever fueled their creativity!

    • I agree, but then again, maybe the flea one was about being able to concentrate on writing and not on getting bitten by fleas, herself, as they leapt over from her snoozing bulldog. That would certainly be a distraction. 😀 But the green face powder is just so bizarre, and there’s not even a HINT of an explanation. 😯

Glad you find these interesting, Priscilla, and thanks for stopping by and taking a moment to comment, too! 😀
