Instead of a set of inspirational photos today, what do you say we find our inspiration in each other? I know seeing a bit of what each of you have done, or checking out your latest WIP, is always inspirational to me, so . . . given the power vested in me by, ahem, myself . . . I hereby declare today the start of a new #ExcerptWeek! Yippee!!
Starting today, you are invited to share an excerpt from one of your books or stories, published, unpublished, or a work in progress, and we, in turn, will send it out into the world to be shared among our various social media groups. Here’s how you do it:
- If you are already set up to post on TWS, go right ahead and post your excerpt(s) throughout the week, whenever you like.
- If you aren’t set up to do so, email me at: mmeara@cfl. rr.com, and I’ll tell you how to proceed, or will post your excerpt for you.
- Be sure to include your Buy Links, Cover Photos, Author Photo, and Author Bio at the end of your excerpt.
- Please, no politics, religion, or blatant erotica. (And yes, I’ll be the judge of what constitutes blatant. Sexy is fine. Very sexy is probably fine, too. Graphic descriptions should be saved for those who decide to read your book.) *wink-wink, nudge-nudge*
And that’s pretty much it. I can help you post, if you need it. Again, just email me with questions. But most of all, SHARE! This is a great way for you to let others see a sample of your work, and learn how and where to buy your books. (Even if you’ve never posted here before. We’d love to meet you, and help you share your work.)
So, come on! Show us what ya got!
Thank you for the opportunity, Marcia! Very generous of you.
I was already a guest on your blog, however, perhaps I will take advantage of the opportunity.
Have a lovely week!

Not to worry, Carmen. I have no set limit on guest bloggers, and NEVER a limit on sharing excerpts. Feel free to join us, and we’ll share with others, as well. The whole purpose of The Write Stuff is for us to work together to learn from each other, share with each other, and PROMOTE each other. 😀

Thanks, Marcia. I would love to participate. Just need to find the time…and get my head together! 😉

I would love to send an excerpt of Pairs on Ice. How many pages do you think would be good? Do you think five is too many?
Thanks.

No restriction on length, Liz. If it takes up too much room on the main page, I can always add the “Read More” link, for folks to click on. I would say base the length on finding a good starting and stopping place, and we’ll add the break if we need to. 🙂 Email me with any questions.

This is great what you are doing….I am still in the organizing and research stage…not much time to write I am afraid…looking forward to read who responds…

This is something I do periodically throughout the year, Patty, whenever the mood strikes me. Sometimes we get a big response, sometimes it’s smaller. When I don’t see enough coming in, you guys get to read excerpts from MY books. 😀
So, you organize AND research before you write? Hmmmm. I’ll have to try that sometime. I usually just blunder around blindly until a sentence or two appear that I like. Then I keep them, and go back to the blind blundering. 😀

maybe I should “blunder around blindly” then I can get somewhere. lol I think because mine is historical and I am a “ducks in a row” person…so don’t feel I could write without my facts first…does that make sense?

I suppose I could chip in, lol. I’d love to share some of my WIP, but don’t dare because I know the state of the draft it’s currently in will be rewritten at least 20 more times, lol. 🙂
