Great reminders from Belinda Williams…
by Belinda Williams
Writing is about a hell of a lot more than just writing.
When I started writing, I had a vague idea of what I was getting myself in for. With the release of my latest contemporary romance, The Pitch, later this month [May 2015], I’ve got a much clearer idea. It’s the third book I’ve released (with two more due for release late this year and next).

Pretty much sums it up. 🙂

Oh so true, all of it.
Except that I really enjoy editing. Does that make me weird?

No, you’re not weird: You have the gift of imagining the final result. I’m ambivalent about editing; I hate the hard work, but love discovering the possibilities as I revise.

Exactly.
I get a buzz out of crafting mediocre sentences into sharp prose that simultaneously roll off the tongue, and have the impact I intend.
Or, at least, that’s what I hope!
My biggest problem is deciding when to STOP editing, and declare a book finished.

Me, too. Endless revising can become a way of life for a dedicated writer…Ugh!
