This afternoon, I’m taking a moment to indulge myself by sharing a great new review of my 2nd Wake-Robin Ridge book, A Boy Named Rabbit. Little Rabbit has been needing some love lately, and D. L. Finn’s lovely comments about Rabbit’s tale just made my day. No, my last six months! Being unable to leave the house for half a year is a real downer, so something like a wonderful review can lift my spirits even more than usual in times like these. I read the first Wake-Robin Ridge book and had been looking forward to continuing with the series. It was good to see Mac and Sarah back, but the new character, Rabbit, stole my heart. I fell in love with his innocence and wisdom. If I could have reached into the book and hugged him, I would have. The world, through his eyes, is a place I want to live. He was raised away from the world, in the woods, by his grandparents. He believed people were evil, but on his grandmother’s deathbed, she let him know there are good people too. She sent him on a quest to find one of those good people. His growth inspired me as much as it inspired those he encountered. There were some heart-wrenching parts along with some endearing ones, and I deeply felt each one. I highly recommend this book and look forward to continuing the journey with Rabbit.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a great review, Denise, and I’m so happy you enjoyed Rabbit’s story this much. He’s very near and dear to my heart, and pretty much keeps a running commentary going on in my head all day long. 🙂

Marcia Meara lives in central Florida, just north of Orlando, with her husband of over thirty years, their four big cats, and her daughter’s two smaller ones.

When not writing or blogging, she spends her time gardening, and enjoying the surprising amount of wildlife that manages to make a home in her suburban yard. She enjoys nature. Really, really enjoys it. All of it! Well, almost all of it, anyway. From birds, to furry critters, to her very favorites, snakes. The exception would be spiders, which she truly loathes, convinced that anything with eight hairy legs is surely up to no good. She does not, however, kill spiders anymore, since she knows they have their place in the world. Besides, her husband now handles her Arachnid Catch and Release Program, and she’s good with that.

Spiders aside, the one thing Marcia would like to tell each of her readers is that it’s never too late to make your dreams come true. If, at the age of 69, she could write and publish a book (and thus fulfill 64 years of longing to do that very thing), you can make your own dreams a reality, too. Go for it! What have you got to lose?

    • YOU are one of the other 3 reviews I had somehow missed, and I absolutely loved what you had to say, Teri! I’m so happy you enjoyed reading about Rabbit. My local readers choose him hands down as their favorite character. (I personally have a soft spot for Hunter Painter, too, but Rabbit is a teensy bit in front of him).I’ve been so far behind of late, I wasn’t even checking thoroughly for new reviews, which is something I’ve always enjoyed doing. But it does NOT mean I like them any less, and yours was a treat! I was especially touched that you enjoyed Rosheen and Handsome. 😀 I enjoy giving my characters pets because I think the animals they choose to share their lives with says a lot about who they are.

    • Awww, thanks, Mae! I’m so glad you like him, and while I may or may not write a 5th novel about the Coles and the Ridge, I’m pretty sure I’ll at least have some spinoff novellas involving “Cole, Cole, & Dupree.” 😀 Austin and Rabbit need some adventures here and there! 😀

      But first, there’s that mystery lady in Riverbend who’s in a “family way.” I need to get back and let folks know who it is, and tell that story. It’s up next. 😀

    • I have been blessed with some really terrific reviews over the last six years, and Rabbit seems to resonate with a lot of readers. And boy, those words do lift your spirits, don’t they? I’m planning to take a couple of weeks off from writing to do some marketing, and some other catch-up work, including writing some overdue reviews of my own. I will definitely be writing one for Guns of Perdition. Don’t worry. You you have nothing to fear, I promise. 😀 I was just giving you a hard time over on SE, but I really did enjoy your book! 🙂
