The Write Stuff is a user-friendly place for authors and readers to talk to each other, make new friends, and share resources, links, ideas, cover reveals, excerpts, and promotions. When possible, I’ll be happy to promote your work here. New releases, book tours, interviews, sales … whatever is important to you at the moment. To find out more, email me at marciameara16@gmail.com but FIRST . . .

Please read the following General Blog Rules, Ten Things You May Not Know About Me Instructions, and  #GuestDayTuesday Instructions for submitting information to me.

GENERAL BLOG RULES:

This is meant to be a safe place, controversy-free.

1. No politics here, please (even if your book is political, which is fine if the title isn’t inflammatory)
2. No overtly religious discussions. (This doesn’t mean you can’t say “Blessings” to someone. Just that we aren’t going down a road sure to be controversial for some.)
3. No overtly erotic excerpts, or X-rated titles, please. Sexy is fine, but let’s keep it within reason.
4. Mild swearing is allowed, but nothing hair-raising, please. (Asterisks will work if you are posting an excerpt containing stronger language.)
5. Play nice. Respect each other.
6. Guest Posters should always make every effort to respond to comments on their post.

TEN THINGS YOU MAYNOT KNOW ABOUT ME INSTRUCTIONS
1. Send me a list of ten interesting or fun facts about yourself that your

fellow bloggers might be surprised to learn.
2. Email them to: marciameara16@gmail.com  and include all the items
listed below
under “Here are the things
I Need From You.”
3. Please find time to engage with those who comment on your post,
even if it’s just a quick thank you. It’s only polite, after all, and readers will remember your friendliness.

#GUESTDAYTUESDAY INSTRUCTIONS:
(Note: This is an every-other-Tuesday feature)

Tuesdays are now  #GUESTDAYTUESDAY on The Write Stuff. I am very happy to help you share your book releases, cover reveals, and most any promos or news you like on my blog, with the goal of helping others find your books or your blog. Posts should be writing, reading, or blogging related, but I’m open to new ideas. My only requirements are the following three things:

  1. Send me the items listed below in the formats requested so that I can get your posts scheduled promptly. Email them to: marciameara16@gmail.com
  2. Include an introductory paragraph or two with your post. It can be about you, your work, or maybe the reason you wrote the book you’re promoting. It’s just a nice a way to ease into the rest of the post.
  3. Please find time to engage with those who comment on your post, even if it’s just a quick thank you. It’s only polite, after all, and readers will remember your friendliness.
  4. And let’s all remember to PAY IT FORWARD when possible. Try to stop by on Tuesdays when you can, and share the posts of others. That’s how it all works. 🙂

If you are willing to do those four things, when possible, I’ll be pleased to do my part to help promote your books whenever I can.

#FirstLineFriday INSTRUCTIONS
(NOTE: This feature is on hold until further notice. Thanks!

  1. At 1:00am EST each Friday, I will post the opening line of a famous book. The quiz will remain open until I’ve received 5 correct answers or until 4:00pm EST, whichever comes first.
  2. If you recognize the line, email me at marciameara16@gmail.com with the title and author of the book it comes from before 4:00pm EST, which I believe is 9:00pm in the U.K.
  3. Email only, thanks. Please DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWER  in the Comments section.
  4. The first 5 folks to email in that time frame will win a download of any one of my books, either for themselves or someone else of their choosing. (NOTE: If you’ve already read all of my books, you may also choose to get a credit for a free download of my next release.)
  5. If you live outside the U.S., Amazon will not allow me to gift you directly, but I will happily send you the book via a PDF or Mobi file, your choice. Either can be read on your Kindle.
  6. NO GOOGLING allowed, please. (Honor system, here).
  7. At 4:00pm EST, submissions will close, and I will announce the winners of the contest. Easy-peasey!

  1. A place where writers can meet and talk is always good to me. Since I essentially write for children, I’m in a different position. Most indie authors write for adults so I don’t know if my little knowledge on the topic can help or not. Let me know!

  2. Evelyne, I think every writer can add to this community. We writers are a diverse lot, but no matter our genres, we face many of the same problems. Resource sharing is going to be a real focus here. That includes articles or blogs on marketing, networking, social media tips, and things like blog tours, or guest blogging. There are tons of good things out there for us, like websites on easy ways to remember tricky grammar rules, and tips for developing plot structure. SO much we can share with each other when we find it. Plus, you have the opportunity to post news about your books here, and those posts will get more exposure because everyone here will be encouraged to pass the news along to their followers, and to tweet it and Facebook it, as well. And you will be encouraged to do the same for them, if they post a tidbit that ought to be shared.

I have interviewed several children’s authors on Bookin’ It, and they are all welcome here, as well. Plus one of your books overlaps into the YA category, and we have those folks here, too. Aimee Easterling comes to mind, immediately.

I would love to have you join us, and if you want to, I’ll send you an invitation that will set you up as an author, so you can do more than just respond to other people’s posts. You can initiate your own. When your new book goes on sale, post it here, and we’ll tweet it out for you. Sound good?

    • Looking forward to it, Teagan. I will try to go ahead and schedule it before I head to Charleston, but if I run out of time, I’ll do it as soon as I return. The next 3 or 4 Tuesdays are already full, but you’ll be next in line. 😀 THANKS!

  9. Greetings Marcia!
You have an admirable blog, loved how you’re helping other writers grow with yourself.
I wanted to know, if you’ll consider poems for guest post publications? I am a teenager and I really want to know where my skills lie at the moment and getting the opportunity to be published here would be an honour and I feel I’ll even receiver valuable feedback.
Commendable work here otherwise! And I’ll definitely read your books:)

    Thanks!

  10. Hi, Akshita!

Thanks, and I’m glad you enjoyed checking out my blog. Yes, I do share poetry, including my own, some from other authors I know, and even occasional “Classical Poetry” posts of poets from days gone by.

If you’d like to share yours, email me with the poem, your bio, a photo, your social media links, and anything else listed above. I will check it out and get back to you with a date for your post

If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me. Good luck with your poetry, and thanks for contacting me. 😊
