Some of you know it’s been almost 9 months since I first developed Long Covid, and I’ve only recently found out that science has determined LC can cause all sorts of damage to our internal organs. In my case, it has done some permanent damage to my heart.
Where’s the good news, you ask? Well … here it is: since I started on the heart medication about ten days ago, my symptoms have all disappeared! I’ve had exactly ONE dizzy spell, the day after I started the meds. ONE. (I’d been having rolling dizzy spells all day long, nearly every day, and including numbness in my right leg, and other discomforts.)
Since my new medication does nothing to ease Long Covid, I suspect that my Long Covid had already disappeared some time back, leaving me with the heart damage that caused my fatigue and extreme dizziness. And now that I’m taking medication to help my heart, the symptoms have pretty much disappeared!
I will, of course, be discussing all of this when I see my cardio guy again for my 30-day follow up, but I’m beyond happy to be feeling more and more like normal every day!
Again, my purpose in sharing this with you is to remind you if you have Long Covid, you need to have your doctor(s) monitoring you for possible organ damage, and proper treatment should they find any. And you should understand that if you have suffered some organ damage, your doctor may be able to treat it and make your life much easier. Mine sure is!
And that’s a wrap, folks! Will update you again if there are any important changes, or I learn anything new about LC. In the meantime, PLEASE STAY HEALTHY & SAFE!
Well, that’s definitely a silver lining in the cloud, Marcia. I am so pleased to hear that you’re feeling better. xx

Thanks, Darlene! I suspect I’ll be on the medication permanently, but since it’s working so well (so far), I’m not gonna complain. 😀 ❤

Thanks, Sharon! Since the damage showed up clearly with imaging, we know I have it now, and my last heart imaging from less than a year ago showed no damage whatsoever. I’m just glad that at this point, there is still medication to help with the problem. I’m feeling 100% better, for sure! 😀 ❤

Hi Marcia, I am very happy to hear you are doing better on the heart meds. I must investigate this because my dad has been suffering from dizzy spells post having a pulmonary embolism last year. They are awful and he has to go to bed.

I’ve been having imaging done on my carotid artery and my heart for 20 years (ever since a major carotid artery blockage that required surgery), and both have been clear of any problems this entire time. My next to last heart imaging was done about a year ago, and there was zero damage. So we do know it was the LC that caused this problem for me.
I’m sorry to hear that your father had an embolism last year, and hope that he can find a solution to the dizzy spells. They are awful to live with, for sure, no matter the cause. Best wishes for him!

I’m so glad that those debilitating symptoms are almost gone – it must be such a relief! Your cardio guy clearly knows his stuff and I hope the 30-day follow-up is as positive as I’m thinking it will be! You must have felt that you were never going to feel ‘normal’ again and to know that there’s medication that can give you your life back is wonderful! ❤ ❤ ❤

Thank you so much, Trish. It is definitely a relief to be able to walk across the room without risking my life in the process. I don’t even need my CANE most of the time, and I’ve been using that since my fall in 2019! My overall balance has improved with the passage of time, something I hadn’t even noticed while having the ongoing dizzy spells from the heart issue.
My “old” cardio doctor didn’t get a chance to discuss the latest imaging with me, due to our forced switch in insurance, but thankfully, he sent it along with all my records to the new doctor, and the new guy definitely knows his stuff. I feel like I lost so much time (something no one wants to do at my age, for sure) but I’ve been given a reprieve now, and I plan to take advantage of it! You’re right. It’s wonderful to have my life back! 😀 ❤

Thanks, Olga, and thank goodness I’ve had regular heart imaging done for more than 20 years, since carotid artery surgery back then, so we know my heart was NOT damaged in any way before the LC, but IS now. (STINKIN’ COVID and LongCovid!) I think we are on the right track for managing things, though, and I sure do feel better!

Thank you so much, Harmony! I’m feeling so much better, it’s amazing! If only the sudden change in insurance hadn’t slowed down stuff so much, this might have gotten dealt with much sooner. But at least we now have some answers and are taking care of the issue properly. With any luck, I’ll soon be writing and giving my wildlife talks again! I CANNOT wait!! 😀 ❤ And I hope you are feeling better, too, my friend? Glad to see you here today! 😀 ❤

There’s nothing like the relief one feels when there’s a resolution to a debilitating health problem. I’m so glad you’re feeling much better. God bless the doctor who treated you!

Thanks so much, Nancy, and I agree with everything you said! Without good health, life can be pretty tricky, if not downright unpleasant. And I’m also blessing the doctor who treated me. I can’t wait to see him again and go over what has happened.
To be fair, my previous cardio doc was also wonderful, and had our insurance not unexpectedly kicked him out of my life, he would have seen me two months ago, and I suspect would have done the same thing. He was always a great doctor! But happily, it seems my new doctor is just as sharp and has a handle on things now, too. FINALLY!
Every day feels better than the one before!
Stay healthy and safe, my friend! Always great to see you stop by! 😀 ❤

Thanks so much, Jacqui! I’m glad it made you cheer. (I’ve been cheering, too, only keeping it quiet until my follow-up visit with my doctor.) Oh, and just posted a clarification, too, as I left out a couple of important details. Ooops. Senior Citizen Memory going on here. Alas, no magic medicine for that, I’m afraid! 😀 ❤

Thanks, Debby, and I hope your friend takes it seriously. They’ve only just let us in on the news that organ damage can be going on with LC, so it’s important to be monitored by doctors to be sure you aren’t experiencing any. My best wishes to your friend! 😀

Thanks so much, Mike! I’ll take all of those I can get! 😊 And yep, I think I’m getting better daily, and believe we’ll be able to manage this going forward. I’d really like to have the energy to write a few more stories, and that now seems like a real possibility.
I appreciate your stopping by and taking a moment to wish me well, too, and am grateful for your friendship! And … together now … CAPYS RULE!! 😁😁😁
