#ThankYou and #Update Redux

I just want to thank everyone who responded to my Tuesday “Checking In” post. Your support and encouragement have done wonders for my mood, and my mood improvement has done wonders for my health. As we all know, attitude is everything, even when dealing with physical issues. And the good news is, yesterday, I felt like I finally turned a corner with this cold I’ve been coping with for almost three weeks now.

Notice I called it a “cold?” I refuse to even entertain the possibility it’s been another case of that other word that starts with “C!” I am not going there, regardless of the extreme fatigue that accompanied my sneezing, coughing, and general discomfort. Nope. Been there, done that, and refuse to ever acknowledge it again, though I will always be cautious about being around others when I’m under the weather with anything that might be contagious.

And all that being said, the important take-away is the phrase “turned the corner.” I actually had a lot of energy yesterday, and an unexpected decrease in other symptoms, too. Got stuff done, and felt good about the day. But not to worry. I’m easing back into things carefully, and it will take some time for me to get back to my writing and my normal blog visits and comments. I am trying to read posts I’ve fallen behind on, though for now, will probably be limiting myself to a Like and a Tweet here and there. I know you’ll all understand, and I appreciate that enormously.

Thanks again, and PLEASE stay safe and well, you guys! (I will, if YOU will.)

(Me, being healthy and energetic!)

  1. Great you’re feeling better, Marcia. Don’t overdo things, though. A lot of times, these days, all I can manage is a Tweet and a like. I hate doing that, but needs must when we’re not up to it. Sending hugs and love, my friend 💕🙂🤗

  2. Dear Marcia, your family of bloggers and writers is with you 100%. Never worry about that. Before the “C” arrived, we all had lists of what we’d accomplish and our calendars were packed with family and friends. Now, probably without exception, we struggle with the limitations of life rather than the abundance. We visit through our hearts and not the wanted embrace. Whether you make an appearance or not, you are loved. 💗

    • What a lovely thing to say, Gwen, and believe me, my friend, YOU are loved right back! And I agree with your assessment of how our lives have changed since the arrival of the “C!” It has been a difficult time for all of us in one way or another. But NOTHING–not even pandemics–last forever! And humans are remarkably adaptable, so we will come through to the other side of this! The trick is to keep on keepin’ on! 😁

Thanks again for always being a voice for kindness and understanding! 🤗 ❤

    • Thanks, Pete! I’m pretty sure my backflipping days are over, regardless, but I get your drift. I won’t overdo, I promise. And I’m glad to know your son has recovered from “C!” This is my second breakthrough go-around, I suspect. And I just found out yesterday that my 8-year-old grandson tested positive, but by the time the results came in, he was already feeling better and up and about. Thankfully, it doesn’t usually seem to cause big problems for the younger kids. But the whole family is in quarantine for now. *sigh* It seems like it’s been with us forever, doesn’t it?

  3. Happy to hear that you’re feeling better, Marcia. And I loved what you said about attitude being everything! I know that if I’m sick, I can psych myself into feeling a lot worse. You take care of yourself.

    • Thanks, Joan, and I know exactly what you mean. We start to focus on whatever hurts and totally lose perspective. And that attitude impedes healing, too. I’m working hard to stay positive and recognize that I AM improving, even if it’s not as quickly as I’d hoped. I definitely feel much better than I did for the first two weeks, so I will get past it! (That’s my story, an’ I’m stickin’ to it!) 😄

    • Thanks, Debby. In the days since posting this, I haven’t gotten any better, really, but I haven’t gotten any worse either. Apparently, I have Long COVID, and these symptoms may or may not continue for weeks, yet. Had to bite the bullet and cancel my February talks because the fatigue limits what I have the energy to do right now. I’m not contagious, but a two hour talk in front of an audience is way more than I’m up for. At least right now. I have big hopes that I’ll be back at it in March. BUT, having said all that, I’m incredibly lucky that my symptoms, while hampering my lifestyle considerably, are mild. I’m painfully aware I could be in a hospital today, instead of recuperating in my own home. I’m VERY grateful for that! 😀 ❤

      • Omg Marsh. I know a few people with this damned ‘long covid’. In fact I just read an article where one of our hospitals here is working on trying to figure out how the long Covid works on the brain. Damn! You go girl, Take all the time you need. And yes, grateful for the tender mercies. ❤ 🙂
