An Update, and a Some Big News!

Just a quick update to let you know that Mark received the infusion today and is feeling fine. No side effects so far, and the folks who took care of him said this would be a double protection that his symptoms wouldn’t get much worse than they are now, which is negligible. And I’m still fine, too, knock wood.

And now for the really big news. My son, Jason, turned fifty years old today! FIFTY! I was looking through old pictures and came across this one of he and my daughter, Erin, some time ago, quite a few years before either was married or had started a family. Looking at it, it’s hard for me to get my head around the fact that my son is … still choking, here … FIFTY today! Holy guacamole! My how time flies when you’re having fun, eh?

And Jason, in case you’re reading this (not really likely, but you never know)

    • Thanks so much, Mary! The COVID thing has had us both on edge since Saturday, and I won’t breathe easily until he’s able to return to work on Tuesday. The birthday thing just sort of snuck up on me, and left me sitting here in shock. Gleeep. 😯

        • He’s been lounging around, watching TV most of the time. (I’ve pretty much been waiting on him hand and foot! URK.) But when he’s ready to get moving again, I’ll be sure he does it gradually. Thanks for the reminder that while it may turn out to be a very mild case, he can still overdo. 🙂

    • Aw, thanks, Joan, for Mark, and for such a nice comment about my kids. I think they’re kinda cute, myself, but then again, I’m just a wee bit prejudiced! 😄 And I’m feeling so much better about Mark, too. If he doesn’t get any sicker, he can return to work Tuesday, so that’s the goal.

    • Hahahaha. As I say, it’s one of my favorite pics from my many boxes full. Jason was in college, and Erin was still a teenager. Now he’s 50, and she’s only 4 years behind him. URK!!

      And the news is still good on Mark. His symptoms have not worsened at all that I can tell, so I’m even more hopeful this quarantine will soon be over and COVID behind us. I’ll do another update later today. And thanks so much for your kind comments, Miriam. They are greatly appreciated! 🙂

      • We’re back to wearing masks in CA. I don’t mind. Just want to be safe.

        People look younger and healthier these days. I’m sure Jason and Erin look younger than their ages.

        Good that Mark is getting better and better.

        • They do, indeed. Erin is a yoga instructor and takes very good care of herself, too, which helps a lot.
          And Jason says he might continue to wear a mask all the time. Period. He has asthma and gets sick nearly every winter, sometimes with pretty bad bronchitis. He hasn’t been sick once since early 2020. I’ve read that cases of the flu and other communicable diseases are WAY down from everyone wearing them, and I can see why he’d consider continuing, especially in crowded stores, etc. It’s worth it to get through the winter without the flu, etc. He works from home, so he wouldn’t have to do it all day, every day. We’ll see what he decides IF this stupid pandemic will ever go away.

          I’m back to wearing them when I go out, myself, somethingI seldom do, since I’m writing all day most days. I don’t mind putting one on to run errands if it means staying healthy. Funny how we humans tend to think these kinds of things happen to “other people,” but probably will never happen to us. And then … it does. 😯

          • My daughter has bad asthma from birth to almost 30 years old. She had tried all kind of things such as acupuncture, but nothing helped. Somehow she came across some research and she tried to cut dairy product, the asthma was subsided. Once in a while she eats pastry or muffins that have cream in them, she could feel a little asthma but she’s almost free of it.

            Asthma condition is different in person to person. Probably Jason had tried everything already.

            My immune system is low from chemo for my cancer, but I haven’t had the flu for four or five years because I’m being careful. I’ll wear mask for a long time also. 🙂

    • Thanks, Staci. Jason was in college and Erin was still a teenager. Can’t believe how many years ago that was.

      And Mark seems to be holding his own. Still not much energy, but he DOES want to go start walking in our fenced in backyard. He can exit and return without coming through my “safe” space, so we’ll see if he feels up to it later today. It’s pretty hot out there, but he does better with that than I do. Getting more and more hopeful that the vaccine has prevented him from becoming terribly sick, and that perhaps it is keeping me from coming down with it at all. 🙂

    • Thanks so much on both counts, Harmony. Jason had to work yesterday, but is hoping to do something fun over the weekend. He’s VERY cautious about going out at all, since he has asthma and some other issues, and says he may never stop wearing the mask in public, because he hasn’t been sick in two years! I’ve read that cases of flu, etc, are down dramatically due to folks being masked all this time, so he might be on to something. (He doesn’t go into any stores or other public places without one, and he works from home, so his exposure to all sorts of bugs has been limited.

      And this morning, Mark seems about the same. No worse symptoms at all, and he’s getting bored watching tv all day. I think that’s a good sign he feels all right. 🙂

        • That’s lovely, Yvette, and I do think of my kids that way, but I’m not sure I want to remember the actual births involved. Neither was easy. And Erin weigh TEN pounds, delivered with no anesthetic at all because there wasn’t time. And this was during a time when natural childbirth was just starting to get more common, so I had ZERO training in how to handle it. (She was born in Tampa, and I’m quite sure they heard me hollering all the way to Orlando. Hahahaha.)

          Still, I see your meaning, and I DO celebrate my two very special gifts. They mean the world to me! 😀 ❤
