Moving right along with our new series, today’s guest is my good friend, Harmony Kent. I know you are going to enjoy (and be impressed by) her Ten Things list, so let’s make her welcome! Take it away, Harmony!
Ten Things You May Not Know About Me
by Harmony Kent
- I’m legless, all the time (oh, the fun of being an amputee and getting to make the jokes)
- My name gives me something to live up to … but then I’d tell you I’m always harmonious … honest!
- We have a presence in our house that likes to ‘borrow’ things, frequently
- I talk to myself, a lot
- I also answer back!
- I was born in 2013 … well, um, the writer in me was. My errant grey hairs might tell you otherwise
- If I’m not writing, I’m reading. If I’m not reading, I’m doing cross stitch. And failing all of that, I’m usually getting myself into all sorts of mischief
- I’m quite short, at 5’ 2”. Luckily, at age 18, I had a growth spurt of about 4 inches, or I’d be a pixie and getting into even more mischief
- Probably, I’m more famous for my laugh than for my writing
- I have a habit of searching for my glasses, which are generally found perched on the end of my nose. If I admitted to my other shenanigans, I’d end up writing a book!
Harmony & Her Husband on Their 2019 Wedding Day

Author Harmony Kent
After spending around thirteen years as an ordained Buddhist monk, living in a Zen Buddhist temple, and six years after a life-changing injury following a surgical error, Harmony Kent returned to the world at the tender age of forty.
Now, she is famous for her laughter, and has made quite the name for herself … she’s also, um, a writer … and fairly well known for that too. She’s even won a few awards. Harmony lives in rural Cornwall with her ever-present sense of humour, adorable husband, and quirky neighbours.
Harmony is passionate about supporting her fellow authors.

Great list, Harmony 🙂 I do the same thing, look for my glasses when they are on my head…lol. My grandkids are fascinated I talk to myself, I try not to answer in front of them.

Glad you enjoyed Harmony’s Ten Things list, Denise. Thanks so much for stopping by and letting us know. And I’m alone all day, so I talk to myself, too. (I can even get away with it in public, too, since it just looks like I’m connected to someone via Blue Tooth or the like.) 😀

You have had a fascinating life Harmony and now live in a beautiful part of the country. We will be wondering what your laugh sounds like – when I hear people laugh it makes me laugh – could be strange out in public if people wonder why I am joining in their private joke.

Ha ha! LOLs. I so totally get that, and I promise, if you heard me laugh, you would join in for sure! 🙂

It would be fun to surprise you! 😀 Alas, it would mean having to FLY. In an actual airplane. (URK!!) Or worse yet, SAIL. On a ship. Across a vast body of water. (DOUBLE URK!) We just may have to keep the visit virtual. Thankfully, that’s an option we can easily take advantage of! 😀

It was wonderful having you today, Harmony! Love your list, and the fact that you laugh so whole-heartedly. (I share Six Things I’ve Learned That Make My Life Better during my talks, and the last & most important one is “Laugh Every Chance You Get.”) Laughter keeps us going through the bad times and I think it keeps us younger, too. So, yay, YOU!!
Thanks for sharing with us, my friend. Lovely to learn more about you. 🙂 ❤

I have to have lots of pairs of glasses. One in the office room, one in the living room, one in the kitchen, and a different pair in the car, for driving. I can actually see a long way without them, but I can’t read even large print unless I put some on.
Thanks for an enjoyable list, Harmony.
Best wishes, Pete.

Glad you enjoyed Harmony’s Ten Things list, Pete. I almost never take my glasses off, so I don’t lose them very often. My cell phone is another story. I’ve now taken to wearing it on a lanyard around my neck when I’m at home. Thanks so much for stopping by today! 🙂

I’ve managed to reduce mine to two pairs: bi-focal for computer and reading, and bi-focal for distance and reading, and I still lose them, lols! So glad you enjoyed the list, Pete. I always like to bring a smile or three 🙂

Wait, what? Harmony is an amputee? I didn’t know that. Haha, “I was born in 2013,” yeah I think writing births totally count.:-)

I think Harmony made a great point about being “born” when we start writing. That means I’m only 8 years old, for one thing, no matter what my creaky joints tell me! 😀 😀 😀 Thanks for stopping by today, Priscilla! 🙂

Enjoyed learning a bit more about you, Harmony. I used to do cross stitch. Sadly, my eyes won’t allow it these days.

When my kids were young, I did counted cross stitch, needlepoint, and crocheting, because they were creative things I could put down at a moment’s notice to tend to the little ones, unlike my painting. You can’t always leave your wet paint unattended when children call, so I put my canvases aside for several years, before I got back into painting & teaching beginning painters. I put it aside again for writing, and this time, have no plans to pick it up again. Not enough time in the day for both.
I’m glad you enjoyed Harmony’s Ten Things list, Joan, and I’m looking forward to yours. 😀 😀 😀

We’ll see how long we go before we run out of participants. Then we’ll consider starting over from the beginning. Really, we all have WAY more than ten things others might enjoy learning about us, so why not? But I suspect it will be a long way off yet. 😀

A great list! That’s very freaky about the presence in your house, Harmony. I hope it’s a playful whatever-it-is that likes to borrow things.
And cross-stitch? Oh, my! I’d be clueless, LOL!

We keep hoping the borrower stays benign lols. Glad you enjoyed the list 🙂

I knew you’d be thinking about that presence in Harmony’s house, Mae. That’s right up your alley. 😀 And I did counted cross stitch, needlepoint, and crocheting for many years when my kids were little. (I put my painting aside until t hey were older, because it’s easier to lay a sampler down and pick it up again later than it is to stop mid-brushstroke when children need tending to.)
I think this series is going to be so much fun, and I HOPE you’ll join us at some point. We NEED to know more about Mae Clair!!! 😀
Thanks for stopping by today, my Penderpal! 🙂

So glad you think so, Trish. I just had a feeling this would be a really fun way to get to know other authors better and to meet some new ones. I’ve had a good response so far, and am booked every other Wednesday into October. I plan to run the series as long as there are folks who’d like to take part.
Harmony’s list is wonderful, isn’t it? After that opening surprise (for some), you see that nothing slows this gal down, or dampens her enthusiasm for Life for very long. Don’t you just love her approach to it all, and especially that she’s famous for her laugh? We could all use more Harmony (in every sense of the word) in our lives today, for sure! 🙂
Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
