#CatchingUp and Taking Some Time Off – #AlertTheMedia

Yes, it’s true! I’m taking some time off. For the very first time in nearly 20 years of blogging, I’ve decided I’m never, EVER going to get caught up, or even find time to finish my current WIP, if I don’t take some time off from my blog. I need a few uninterrupted days to sit down and WRITE for a change. Plus, we’ve been working very hard on some deferred maintenance issues with our house and yard, and I need a few days to focus on that before the temps get even higher than the 92 degrees that are already upon us here in Florida.

With this in mind, I’m not going to be available on The Write Stuff for the next two weeks, so my usual bi-weekly features (#MondayMeme, #GuestDayTuesday, #ThorsDaySmile, and #FirstlineFriday) will be on hiatus, too. And I probably won’t be able to do much in the way of sharing while I’m officially gone, though if I can squeeze a reblog or two in, I will.

This is NOT an easy thing for me to do, being addicted to blogging as I am. I mean, I don’t even take weekends off!  Ever! I will miss ALL of you while I’m working on other things, but I think I’ll return feeling much better for the break and the chance to dig out from under the heap of things I’m behind on.

I know you’ll all understand and will forgive me for missing some posts on your blogs, but just know that if I didn’t feel it was necessary, I wouldn’t do it. Thanks, and you guys behave yourselves while I’m away. (No talking about me behind my back! 😀 )

(NOTE: I will still be checking my email daily, so if you need me for anything, you can always reach me that way. )

See you in two weeks!

    • I think you’re exactly write, Bill! 😀 It’s a good plan, even if it’s completely foreign to my nature. But it will sure be helpful going forward, I think. Thanks for stopping by. Always nice go see you! 🙂

  1. Breaks are needed, Marcia. I’m already planning to take off the entire month of November again. Without blogging breaks, it’s impossible to make good, solid writing progress. Wishing you much success. And, of course, I’ll be here when you return! Big HUGS!!!

    • Nobody ‘splained that part to me, Mae. 😀 I managed to write 7 novels and 3 novellas without a single blogging break, not even a weekend. But boy, I don’t know how I did it, because it’s sure not happening now. I think it was the addition of all the extra work around the house and yard we’ve undertaken that undid my routine. I simply have to catch up! That, and having 2 programs a month to prepare for at the Museum and DeBary Hall. And coyotes were the coup de gras! Hardest program I ever put together. Worked on it for four weeks, so no wonder I’m behind. GACK!

But I do think this break will help, and if need be, I’ll even schedule a few more here and there. Probably. Maybe. Or not. 😀 We’ll see. Thanks for the reassurance, and I’ll be looking to catch up with you as soon as I return. 😀 ❤ Hugs back atcha!!

  2. Oh, Marcia, I’m tagging along with you. I’m almost on official break because we are moving across the country. Enjoy your time away and know that we are all cheering you on. 💗

    • Thanks, Jeanne. It can sure get hectic at times, and I can’t even imagine trying to write with a full time job elsewhere, or the like. But I won’t be gone too long. I’d miss everyone too much! 🙂

    • It’s good you reminded me not to take that literally. I don’t know if I’d survive another fall!! 😯 😀 Thanks for understanding. I’m not sure I do, myself. I’m used to being at my desk and blog every single day, and twenty years of that without a break is going to make this feel very strange. But I think it’s a good idea right now, and hope to get caught up with a lot of stuff. Fingers crossed. See you on the other side! 🙂 And hopefully with major progress made toward a new Riverbend novel. (I’ve already got a pretty creepy character running around that little town! 😀 )

    • Thanks, Denise. LOTS of writing and other work to catch up on, but I’m planning to fit in some down time, too. And hoping to get a bunch of stuff done, including some reading, along the way! 🙂 See you soon! 🙂

    • Thanks so much, Teri. I’m mostly caught up on my emails now, so taking off shortly for Home Depot. Yard and house projects need all sorts of supplies, from lumber to plants. 😀 And when Mark goes back to work tomorrow, I’m planning to write every morning. We’ll see how that goes. (Wish me luck! 😀 )

  3. Nothing worse than falling behind with everything and not being able to see a way out of it. This sounds like a sensible plan and I’m sure you know that we’ll all still be here when you’ve caught up with yourself! ❤

    • Thank you, Trish. It’s nice to think I can still do some sensible things now and then. 😀 😀 😀 I do believe this is going to work great, though and I appreciate your support! 🙂 ❤

    • Thanks, Sue. I fully intend to fit in a little bit of reading each day, though I do most of mine after 8:00 anyway. Still. An extra hour before dinner won’t hurt, and might make the evening more pleasant, too. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

    • Believe me, of late I’ve been falling farther and farther behind. That’s why I decided I have to start taking blog breaks now and then, in order to even have a fighting chance of getting other stuff done. 😀 And thanks for understanding. I think we all struggle to keep up with life’s demands these days, and I’m surprised I was able to keep up as long as I have. But I suspect I’m slowing down a wee bit, and am going to have to make allowances more often. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by to wish me well. I appreciate it. 😀

  4. Awesome. Enjoy the break and I hope it’s productive. I recently took 3 weeks off and then a week later took 2 weeks off. Sometimes it just has to happen, and you’ll feel so much better with life in a bit more order. So no checking in and no replying to comments until you’re back. Make it a REAL break. We’ll all still be here. ❤

      • Hahahaha. You are too much, Sarah! And you’ve reminded me by making me read my own words, too. Damn clever, if you ask me. 😀 Now I really can’t argue with this concept, can I? 😀 So, as suggested, I shall live life, write books, drink … something, …and always, always ogle Thor. 😀 😀 😀 (I’d drink the wine, too, but it’s not so good for my blood sugar. I’ll drink Glucerna, instead. Every bit as yummy! Oh, HAHAHAHAHAH. I really do crack myself up now and then! *snort!* )

Thanks for stopping by, Sarah. It’s always a treat to see you! 🙂 ❤
