It’s been a couple of weeks, I know, and I apologize. I’m still trying to catch up, but mostly treading water right now. Lots going on in my life these days, even considering I’ve been trapped here at home for more than three months now. BUT. I was determined to get a #FirstLineFriday post out for you guys today, and voila! Here it is!
As always, the rules are simple:
- Be one of the first five people to email me before the game ends at 4:00pm, with the title and author of the correct book.
- Do not reply here on the blog. Email only: marciameara16@gmail.com
- Honor System applies. No Googling, please.
- Submissions end at 4:00 P.M. EST, or when I receive 5 correct answers, whichever comes first.
- Winners who live in the U.S. may request a free download of any one of my books for themselves, or for someone of their choice. OR, if they’ve read all of the offered books, they may request a free download of my next publication.
- Winners who live elsewhere may request a mobi or PDF file of the same books, since, sadly, Amazon won’t let me gift you from the site.
And now, the moment you’ve been waiting for! Put on your thinking caps, because here is today’s opening line:
“Nobody was really surprised when it happened, not really, not at the subconscious level where savage things grow.”
Remember, email answers only, please. Thanks! And now off I go to await your guesses.
I don’t recognize this one, but something about it seems vaguely familiar. I’ll probably kick myself when I see the answer.

I suspect you will kick yourself, indeed. 😀 You’ve definitely heard of this one, I’m sure, and have quite possibly read it, too. Sorry it didn’t come to you, but stay tuned for the answer. And thanks for stopping by. 🙂

I had no idea what it was, so I Googled it – and I’m so disappointed in myself because I’ve read this book.

I’m sorry it didn’t come to you, Teri. I suspect pretty much everyone has heard of this one, and most have probably read it. I thought it was going to be too easy, but I can see already, it’s a toughie. Thanks for stopping by, though! I’m going to try to keep this going every other Friday for now, with the hope I can resume it weekly before too much longer.

You have me stumped on this one, although I feel like I should know it.

Oh, yes. You should know it, Joan. I know you’ve heard of it, and I’m betting you’ve read it. Sorry it didn’t come to you, though. Stay tuned for the answers, at which point some of you might be giving yourselves head smacks. 😀 And thanks for stopping by to check it out, too! 🙂

I’m happy to see this feature back. I’ve been thinking and I don’t know this one. Sorry. Can’t wait to hear the answer. I don’t know about you, but I feel like I’m moving in slow motion lately.

Aw, thanks, Darlene. I love doing this one and am going to TRY to do it every other Friday, at least, until I can resume weekly again. I’m sorry you don’t know this one, but I suspect you’ll be familiar with the title, even if you haven’t read it. Stay tuned! And thanks for checking in. One of these days, I hope to have my daily schedule under control again. (At least somewhat!) Either that, or I need to clone myself! 😀 Good to see you here today! 🙂 ❤

Like some of the others, I feel like I ought to know it but can’t put my finger on it. 😀

Sorry, Denise. There are going to be some people giving themselves a head smack when this one is over, for sure. You’ll probably be familiar with the book, and may have even read it. We’ll see. But either way, so glad you stopped by today to take a look. Thanks! 🙂

Familiar and a great hook!

It is a great hook, and most will be familiar with this book. IN fact, many will have read it. But so far, only one winner, though another came close. 🙂 Sorry it didn’t ring a bell for you Bette, but glad to see you stopping by today. 🙂 Thanks! 🙂
