As promised, a bit more in celebration and anticipation of the upcoming release of Peace Talks, the 16th book in the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. Only 13 more weeks to go!

 All of the fabulous covers for this series were done by my favorite cover artist, Chris McGrath. Chris does some of the best fantasy covers out there, and his model for Harry Dresden (John Paul Pfeiffer) is on many of them, including Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn series, D. B. Jackson’s Thieftaker series, and more. John Paul is also the face I imagined for my own male “lead” in my Wake-Robin Ridge series. (I can dream, can’t I?)     • I see I can’t fool you, my fellow Dresdenphile! NONE of those answers is right, as you saw. Mouse is the dog, Mister is the cat, and Beelzebub just sounds like a good name for a Wizard’s pet parrot–IF the Wizard were to have one, which, of course, Harry doesn’t. I thought about throwing Bob the Skull in there, but he’ll get his day in the sun next Tuesday, I think. 😀 And if BOB heard you call him a pet, I suspect you’d be in real trouble. 😀 Thanks for stopping by, Julie!     • There’s a good reason you don’t remember that parrot, Jeanne. He doesn’t have one. But it could be fun, couldn’t it? If I thought the next few stories had a lot of room for fun, I’d email Jim Butcher and suggest it. 😀 BTW, don’t know if you saw the conversation Julie and I had under last Tuesday’s post on this topic, but we decided fans of The Dresden Files would surely be called Dresdenphiles, and you’d definitely be one, too. 😀 Stay tuned for next week’s little tidbits and silliness.     • Oh, Teri, I think it’s right up your alley. Butcher started this series a LONG time ago. I think I read Book 1 started as a college project, though I’m not 100% sure on that. But it was good, and I wanted to read more. Since that one, the books have done nothing but improve, both in how they are written, in plot lines and characters, and in developing a character like Harry Dresden. As you have no doubt surmised, I love these books, and highly recommend them to anyone who likes Urban Fantasy, Wizards, and great heroes!   4. I’d never come across this series until you mentioned it recently. The concensus on Goodreads is that it properly comes to life around Book 4 and so I’m going to dive in there and see what I think. I don’t seem to be able to settle properly to writing at the moment but these next few weeks may give me a chance to catch up on some fun reading. I’m going to be sooooo well-read! ❤

    • Well, that’s better than nothing, but the first 3 books lay a LOT of groundwork, and they are solid. It does continue to improve with each book, and soon ends up in my top five fantasy series, ever. But I hate for you to not watch the dynamics grow. HOWEVER, having said all of that, reading ANY of it is better than missing out on the greatest Wizard of all time! (Move over, Merlin! Harry Dresden’s got it,now.) 😀
