I am beyond excited to let the world know my newest novel, The Light: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 4 is now available on Kindle! Because my doctor has said I’m well enough to travel, we are heading west for a few days, and I won’t be able to get the print book published, proofed, and made available until our return. However, you may rest assured it will be along very shortly thereafter. In the meantime, for those of you who enjoy reading on Kindle or simply can’t wait any longer, you should definitely rush straight to Amazon and download your copy today! 😀 This one has been a long time coming, but I hope it will prove to have been worth the wait. And by all means, please share my happy news with the Immediate World! THANKS!
By the way, I hope to visit with some of you after I return from our trip. At that time, I’ll be absolutely shameless about begging to chat with any of you good folks who’d like to have me stop by. Just sayin’ . . .
And now, here it is! TADA!
The Magic is Back!
For Robert MacKenzie Cole—or Rabbit, as he’s known to all—the chance to accompany his family to see North Carolina’s infamous Brown Mountain Lights has him nearly dizzy with excitement. And what better night to watch this unexplained phenomenon unfold than Halloween?
But when the entrancing, unpredictable lights show up, Rabbit gets far more than he bargained for. He’s gifted with what folks in the Appalachians call “the Sight,” and it’s this extrasensory perception that enables him to spot the one light different from all the rest.
In his biggest challenge to date, Rabbit—aided by his daddy and his newest friend, Austin Dupree— begins a quest to learn more about the mysterious light. Their investigation unveils a web of cons and corruption none of them expected and exposes a brutal murder along the way.
Throughout all, Rabbit is unfaltering in his commitment to do whatever it takes to understand the truth behind the glowing orb and to determine how he can help it.
After all, it followed him home.

Author Marcia Meara
Marcia Meara lives in central Florida, just north of Orlando, with her husband of over thirty years, four big cats, and one small dachshund.
When not writing or blogging, she spends her time gardening, and enjoying the surprising amount of wildlife that manages to make a home in her suburban yard. She enjoys nature. Really, really enjoys it. All of it! Well, almost all of it, anyway. From birds, to furry critters, to her very favorites, snakes. The exception would be spiders, which she truly loathes, convinced that anything with eight hairy legs is surely up to no good. She does not, however, kill spiders anymore, since she knows they have their place in the world. Besides, her husband now handles her Arachnid Catch and Release Program, and she’s good with that.
Spiders aside, the one thing Marcia would like to tell each of her readers is that it’s never too late to make your dreams come true. If, at the age of 69, she could write and publish her first book (and thus fulfill 64 years of longing to do that very thing), you can make your own dreams a reality, too. Go for it! What have you got to lose?
Marcia has published six other novels to date, all of which are available on Amazon in both print and Kindle format. She has also published two spin-off novellas and a book of poetry, currently only available in Kindle format.

That sounds very intriguing, are the brown mountain lights a real thing?
LikeLiked by 2 people
Yes, they are. And they have been observed going back a long, long time. Way before any settlements in the area, much less the train lights some people have tried to attribute them too. I just realized that I forgot to include that info in my Author’s Notes, and will definitely have to add it. No one knows what they are, though they’ve ruled out swamp gas and a few other things. The Cherokees thought they were the spirits of warriors lost in battle. I think they will probably turn out to be a natural phenomenon of some sort, but it’s fun to speculate. SO glad you reminded me to put this part in my Author’s Notes! 🙂

Huge congrats, Marcia! Oh, I know how you fee. about “a long time coming” — It took me so long to finish and then edit Atonement in Bloom. This is wonderful. I love the cover too. Safe journey and enjoy your getaway. Hugs.

Thanks, Teagan! I know many writers have been through one that took longer than usual for one reason or another, and know exactly how I’m feeling! 😀 And thanks for mentioning the cover! I think it’s my favorite of all of Nicki’s designs, and I’ve loved each one. But this one is SO perfect for the story! Glad you like it! 🙂 ❤

Do you know that I have ALL of my favorite books on both Kindle and my bookshelves? I’m so in love with looking at them on display, but I read exclusively on my Kindle for several reasons, but mostly because I can control the font size. Much easier on my eyes, especially since my Kindle Voyage isn’t backlit like a computer. So, hey, for me, it makes sense to have both. 😀 Just sayin’ …. Hahahahaha.

Thank you, Darlene, on all counts. LOVE that this one is out there, and can’t wait to see my daughter and her family! And there will be snow. OMG. I haven’t been around snow in a very long time! 😀 Wheee. (Let’s hope Granny doesn’t slide on the ice. Another fall is NOT something she’d be happy about.) 😯

And I, too, am happy I managed to finish this one. There were days when I had serious doubts, but, here it is! Yay!! 🙂

Congrats on getting this out despite all your recent challenges! It sounds fascinating, and reminds me I need to get started on this series ❤
Have a great break away – I'm off shortly to the Highlands to decompress after my horrendous year, and hopefully, to start writing again. I'd better, as I've volunteered a few chapters for critique at my next writer's group meeting in January!

Even though I haven’t been active on the blogs of late, I have been keeping a bit of an eye on you and what’s been going on. I was glad to see you’d settled that one big thing (nameless here) that was so upsetting, and I’m thrilled that you can go to the Highlands to decompress! Good for you. The writing will start flowing again soon, too. And I’m wishing you a peaceful, healing holiday, and a MUCH happier year in 2020!! 🙂 ❤

Thanks so much, Pete. Yep, I’m improving every day. I hardly ever need to use my cane anymore, for one thing, though I’ll be taking it with me to Denver. (Icy sidewalks are a bit frightening when you know what a fall can feel like.) And what I hate the most about this time of my life (which overall, I’m enjoying greatly) is when our parts wear out before we’re done with them. I was still using my ears, for one thing, but now have to have hearing aids. We outlast our various parts these days, so it’s good that there are trifocals, hearing aids, and quad canes available. 😀
I’m really glad you like the cover, too. It’s my favorite of all of my books, so far, because in addition to being so gorgeous, it definitely represents some major scenes in the story. Rabbit is such a fun character to write–the little boy who changes the world for everyone whose life he touches. (I know he’s changed mine!) 🙂

I think it’s wiser to embrace all that makes our lives easier. I’m not that far off to looking at hearing aids; my wife and I spend half of the day saying, “what?”😎
I grew up in the Dakotas—I know about icy conditions, but we live in a mild place now. It usually snows only once or twice a year for us.
It’s wonderful to develop an affection for one of your characters; it makes writing about him/her fun.

I agree about affection for one’s characters. If I don’t care about mine, I have no desire to write books focused on them. But Rabbit is truly part of me. I swear, he’s talking to me all the time, pointing out the weird things he sees and hears wherever I go. (I’m taking notes! 😀 )
I live in an even milder place these days. 😀 Florida hardly ever gets snow, you know. 😀 😀 😀 Though, to be fair, I’ve seen it snow here in central Florida two times over my life, though it didn’t lay one of the times. The other time, it was about an inch deep on the ground, and it took rolling a snowball all over the yard to make a 2′ tall snowman. (Who was gone by morning, btw.) 😀 Both times were several decades ago. It will be fun to see snow again, though it’s not predicted for our visit. (Still, the weathermen are wrong as often as they’re right, if you ask me.)

Thanks, Sarah. Once I’m on the ground again, as opposed to ripping through the skies by some sort of magic, I’ll be ready to have fun. Until that moment, I’ll be the one who, at the first sign of turbulence, is on her knees screaming, “We’re all gonna DIIIIIIE!!!” 😀 😀 😀

Thanks, Deb. I had begun to think I’d never reach this point, but at last! It’s out there! Now to see how long it will take me to get the print version up upon my return. We’re actually celebrating the PRE-holidays with my daughter & fam, so as not to fly on the busiest days of the year. But she’s already decorated their new home, and it’s been snowing, so it will all be festive! Looking forward to the break, for sure.

It works better that way. I try to make them work for someone who starts in the middle, but you miss an awful lot of previous history among the characters that way. If you get to check them out, I’ll be interested in hearing what you think. When Rabbit came along in book 2, he usurped the whole show. 😀
