A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That

A little over two weeks ago, I was advised by my doctor to limit my computer time severely, and I took her advice seriously. I’ve been on a blog break ever since, and it’s not something I’ve enjoyed, frankly. So, I’m planning to work my way back into the blogosphere, bit by bit, with the thought in mind that no one will notice and tell on me.Β  πŸ˜€

I probably won’t be resuming my weekly features just yet, as my energy level is still low, low, low. But I’ll try to stop by at least a couple of times a week to let you guys know what’s happening.Β

To that end, let me say that I have finally–despite hurricanes, illness, and falling down with a loud BOOM–managed to finish The Light: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 4! My editor and I are about halfway done with making it presentable for public consumption, and I’m very eager to get this one “out there.” Hopefully, the eBook will be published within the next two weeks.

I will be revealing the beautiful new cover right here in the next day or so, and even though I’m not quite up to doing a cover reveal “tour,” I do hope you guys will share it far and wide. Stay tuned to see for yourself what a great job my cover designer did on this one. I think it’s my favorite, so far. πŸ™‚

And finally, on a local note, in order to be sure I have the print version of this book IN HAND, I’ve moved the date of the Book Release Party to January 25, 1:00 to 4:00 at the Enterprise Museum. If you are in the area, please drop by to see us!

That’s it for now. Have a great evening, everyone!Β

    • Thanks, Bette! I’ve missed being here AND being able to follow all my favorite blogs. I feel like I’ve been living on the moon, or something! 😦 But I’m coming back a bit at a time so I don’t overdo. Your good wishes are very much appreciated! πŸ™‚ ❀

        • P.S. Quick note to let you know that my “Celebrate Maine through Poetry” night went wonderfully well thanks to you–not only for your humor tip, but for all of your own event posts that inspired me to be well prepared and to seek to get the audience involved and inspired. Every thanks! ❀

          • Yay!! Thanks for letting me know. It does my heart good to think of you having fun with your presentations now, Bette! I’m so happy I helped a bit, and I’m proud of you for giving it a go. It’s such a fun thing to do, once you get past those jitters, isn’t it? I can’t wait to begin my 2020 programs, myself. I’ve missed all the friends I’ve made through doing them. Congratulations, and keep it up! πŸ™‚ ❀

    • Thanks so much, Jeanne! I’m still being pretty careful about overdoing, and I’m just hoping I have the energy to do any sort of launch/promos at all. For now, I am focused on editing and getting that eBook published, and I’m taking it one day at a time. πŸ™‚ ❀

    • Awww, thanks so much, Joan! I’m very happy to have this one nearing the finish line, believe me. More on that–and my latest header–later. πŸ˜‰ I’m not ready to begin following all my favorite blogs yet, but at least I feel up to stopping by here now and then. After edits are over, I may be able to resume more activity. I’ve missed keeping up with everyone. Hope NaNo is going well for you! πŸ™‚ ❀

    • Thanks, Robbie! I’m still alive and kicking, here. Okay, I’m alive. I haven’t done too much kicking lately, but then, it was a bad habit anyway. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ I’m looking forward to gradually returning to my old schedule. πŸ™‚ ❀

    • I don’t know about the “good woman” part, but you can’t keep a crazy ol’ lady like ME down very long! πŸ˜€ Thanks so much for your well wishes, and believe me, I’ve missed you guys, too! It’s no fun being cut off from everyone I’ve grown to enjoy hearing about on a near-daily basis. I’m happy to be starting my comeback tour. Hahaha. πŸ™‚ ❀

    • Thanks so much, Harmony! I’m really happy to be wrapping this one up, and will probably share the cover later today. And thanks for sending me such lovely thoughts. I’ll take all the love and best wishes I can get, and send mine back your way, too. πŸ™‚ ❀

    • Thank you so much, Luccia! I’m working on getting it out there, and getting well, both, and hope to resume full activities soon! I do not enjoy being hampered by these things that were tossed our way, but that’s life. I plan to come out the other side stronger and more determined than ever. (And there just might be a book in there somewhere, too.) πŸ˜€ ❀

    • Thanks, Stevie! I had to be very careful for a while, and am only gradually increasing my time in front of the screen. This week has led to a bit more than I wanted, due to editing like crazy, but I’m still breaking it up into smaller chunks, and walking away to do mindless physical stuff throughout the day. That helps, I think. My FitBit reminds me, too, lest I sit here like a lump all day! πŸ˜€ ❀

    • Thanks so much, Marje! I just enjoy the interaction between other bloggers, especially other writers, and I’ve missed it ALL–both my posting and my reading–more than I ever imagined I would. And yes, I’d love to take you up on helping me get the word out about The Light. I will email you soon. THANKS! πŸ™‚ ❀

    • Oh, that is LOVELY to hear, Mary! I hope you’ll enjoy this one. Lots of new characters and new adventures for our boy! πŸ˜€ And thanks for your kind words. I AM feeling better. I’m also not mixing up my words when I’m talking nearly as much, though I’m still having problems when I type. My brain isn’t sending the right signals to my fingers, and I go back and discover I’ve thought one word and typed something totally different. Sometimes it rhymes with the word I was thinking or starts with the same letter, but has no other relationship with it. I’m told this will probably continue to improve, too. Fingers crossed. It brings home that connection between thought and action very clearly!

BTW, I still can’t order your latest book, darn it. Will be trying again, though. And I’ve LOVED perusing Secret Dumfries. Still longing to visit in person someday, but for now, the book is a wonderful armchair visit. πŸ™‚ ❀

      • It sounds like you need to be patient, Marcia, and allow things to come back to normal without pushing it. Glad you’re enjoying Secret Dumfries. I don’t know why A-Z of Dumfries is not available on Amazon.com I will ask the publisher – and tell them they are losing sales!

        • I’m working on patient, honest. And I AM seeing lots of improvement. Balance issues are almost gone, and the only thing similar is if my blood sugar drops, but that will be a constant thing as I learn to keep it stable. Improving on that every day, too. Overall, I think I’ll be as good as new soon. Or at least as good as I was before I landed on the floor. πŸ˜€

I’m going to try ordering again. They cancelled my first order and I got a notice that they’d closed it all out, but maybe a brand new one would work. I’ll see. I really want the book! πŸ˜€

  1. How come everything that doctors advise us not to do is fun or tasty? It’s so frustrating when our bodies let us down. From out of the blue, I woke up with a bad back two weeks ago. How do you get hurt rolling over in bed? 😎 Well, I’m not that young, so that shouldn’t be so shocking. Ten days later, I was still miserable, and I lived with the heating pad. Finally, I’m resuming normal activities in the last two days.

Much luck to you, Marcia. It sounds like an excellent plan to get back to blogging gradually in short spurts.

    • Hi, Pete! Hope your back continues to improve. Bad backs and bad knees are the WORST things to get over injuring, even if you’re not sure how it happened. Good luck!

And yep, because I’m using up my alloted computer time trying to get my WIP editing complete and published, I just can’t resume full blogging activities. My doctor is already a bit unhappy with me, and when I’ve been sitting here very long, I FEEL it! GAH. Once this book is done, though, I can take a day or two to recuperate, and then resume normal blogging activities. I’ve really missed it!

Thanks for stopping by, and keep on feeling better each day! πŸ™‚

  2. Marsh, you’ve certainly been through the mill and back this year. You are superwoman! Nobody can or will forget you here. Just keep your limited computer time geared toward your book, then come back to share the birth with us. Congrats on you girl! ❀

    • That’s my plan, Deb, and I’m working on it. Just want to get the last few chapters edited this week, so I can publish the eBook before we head to Denver to visit my daughter. We’ll see how that goes. And I’m glad to hear no one will forget me. Trouble is, I’m missing out on everyone’s news, and I hate that!! But I’ll catch up again once I can return to something more akin to a normal blogging life. πŸ˜€ ❀

      • Focus on you first Marsh, the news will always be there! Visit Sally’s blog when you’re up to the challenge and you will be updated to the loop, lol. In the meantime, relax, enjoy your family and holiday and the rest will fall into place! ❀ xx

  3. Great news that your new Wake-Robin Ridge book is ready for publication. I’m ready to snap one up as soon as it appears! Please don’t rush things, though. A screen is a penetrating and harsh light and I can understand why, after such a bad fall, your doctor’s imposed limits. From what you say about your progress, I think your self-imposed blog retirement has been beneficial and worth the pain and heartache. Nothing can keep the Marcia Meara I know down! ❀

    • Aw, thanks, Trish! I’m doing my best to go slow, but I’m nearing the end of the editing. Hopefully that will be done by Friday, and since I already have the soon-to-be revealed cover, I’ll be able to get the eBook out there! Wooohooooo! When I return from our trip to Denver, I’ll jump right on the print version, and hopefully, it won’t take too long, either. I’ve heard it’s trickier than it was with CreateSpace, but we’ll see.

And yes, I think cutting back has helped a LOT. For one thing, I don’t need the cane very much now, and even when I do, it’s usually because I’m having some low blood sugar issues, and nothing to do with the whack on the head. So that’s good. πŸ˜€

Will probably post the new cover here either tonight or tomorrow, depending on how many more chapters I can get ready for my lovely editor! πŸ˜€ We’ll see. I know I won’t be doing a cover reveal tour, but I do hope it will get shared hither and yon, regardless. πŸ˜€ And I’m still hoping I can do a New Release mini-blog tour after I get back from our vacation. We’ll see how that goes. πŸ™‚ ❀
