#ShareAReviewDay Tuesday – Eclipse Lake by Mae Clair

This morning, I have the great pleasure of welcoming Mae Clair to The Write Stuff. Mae is sharing a review of her book, Eclipse Lake, and I know you’ll enjoy it. Hope you’ll check it out on Amazon, and will also pass this post along on your social media. Thanks!

REVIEW:

Intriguing Family Dynamic
5 Stars ~ Christina Thompson

As a fan of Mae Clair’s other novels, I was not disappointed with Eclipse Lake. I enjoyed her vivid description of the sleepy town near Eclipse Lake. Although I liked the mystery and suspense, I loved the family dynamic even more. I’m a sappy sucker for a man with a healthy relationship with his son. The funny banter and touching interactions of the Carlisle Clan (Dane, Jesse, & Jonah) made me laugh and cry. Ms. Clair has done a superb job delving deep into the many levels of the Carlisle family. 5-Stars!!

BLURB:

Small towns hold the darkest secrets.

Fifteen years after leaving his criminal past and estranged brother behind, widower Dane Carlisle returns to his hometown on the banks of sleepy Eclipse Lake. Now, a successful businessman, he has kept his troubled past a secret from most everyone, including his seventeen-year-old son.

But memories in small towns are bitter and long.

Ellie Sullivan, a nature photographer for a national magazine, has a habit of ping-ponging across the map. Her latest assignment leads her to Eclipse Lake where she becomes caught up in the enmity between Dane, his brother Jonah, and a vengeful town sheriff. When freshly discovered skeletal remains are linked to an unsolved murder and Dane’s past, Ellie is left questioning her growing attraction for a man who harbors a long-buried secret.

    • Eclipse Lake is next up on my Kindle, and had I not had so many interruptions lately, I’d have finished it before this review posted. I’m looking forward to it, not the least being because strong father-son relationships (along with the bonds between brothers) are topics I love reading (and writing) about. Can’t wait to check out Dane and Jesse. Thanks for stopping by and taking a few minutes to comment on Mae’s book, Teri. 🙂

      • So cool to hear, Marcia! And many thanks for hosting me on your blog today with Eclipse Lake. I think you’ll enjoy the story. There are a lot of past sins to atone for between the three Carlisles—Dane, Jesse, and Jonah. They have a mess of baggage to work through and I enjoyed writing every scene, LOL.

Thanks again for hosting me. You’re a star! 🙂

    • Thanks so much, Teri. I really enjoyed writing Dane and Jesse’s relationship, along with Jonah’s tossed in there, too. They had a lot of baggage to deal with, but it was fun working out all the kinks. I’m glad you enjoyed the book!

  2. I’m seriously considering hiding from your blog now. Having read this review of Eclipse Lake and seeing other wonderful reviews of the book I’ve had to buy it. I’m really looking forward to reading it, too – just as long as the tottering pile of TBRs don’t crush me first… 🙂 ❤

    • Oh, Trish, you made my day! I am doing a Snoopy dance (Marcia knows I break into them frequently whenever I get excited about something, LOL). I fully understand the gargantuan TBR. Mine is constantly mutating and sprouting heads. Whenever Eclipse Lake surfaces on yours, I hope you enjoy it. I really loved writing the family relationships in this one. Thank you again for the purchase. I’m giddy 🙂

      • I know I’m enjoying it so far, Trish, so I think you’re going to, as well. If your TBR pile is (like mine) mostly on your Kindle (on account of how I would NEVER bend the spines on my REAL books), maybe you’ll survive. I mean, it will be a virtual totter, followed by a virtual tumble, resulting in a virtual squashing, so you might come out of it–ahem–virtually okay. 😀 😀 😀

          • I know exactly how you feel, but books are endlessly patient, unlike their authors. They’ll wait for you pretty much indefinitely, so you’ll get to them when the time is right, and they will still enchant you with their magic! 😀 (That’s my story, an’ I’m stickin’ to it!) 😀 ❤
