So happy to have D. L. Cross joining us this morning with a review of her book The Gate. Folks, I’ve read this one, and trust me, you’ll enjoy it as much as I did, I’m sure! Thanks for sharing this review far and wide, as well.
REVIEW:
D. L. Finn 5.0 out of 5 stars
May 9, 2019 Format: Kindle Edition (Verified Purchase)
I highly recommend!
I’ve been looking forward to this release and was impressed from the first page. “The Gate” is the beginning of the Astral Conspiracy Series, and I found it was like reading a movie it was so vivid. The characters felt very real including my favorite, Landon Thorne. He had theories others made fun of until they realized he was right. I connected with him staying true to himself and not allowing others to force change. With so much action and urgency in the story, it was hard to put down. I found myself saying more than once: “They don’t have time for this!” There was plenty of history and research mixed into the story that added another level of intrigue. Ancient Alien Theories fascinate me, so I was thrilled to find an exciting story with that woven into it. I highly recommend this well-written book, especially if you love aliens, the what-if scenario, action, history, theories, and characters you can grow to love–and hate!
BLURB:
He lost his job. He lost his girl. Now it’s all he can do not to lose his life.
Landon Thorne is a disgraced archaeologist, a laughing stock in his field because of his unconventional beliefs – he’s an ancient astronaut theorist. No one takes him seriously.
Until an alien armada targets Earth.
Now Landon’s in high demand – by the US government and someone far more sinister.
They race across two continents to the Gate of the Gods, the one place on Earth that might give humans an advantage over the aliens. But no one is prepared for what they’ll find.
And not everyone will make it out alive.

Author Staci Troilo Writing as D. L. Cross
D.L. Cross has loved science fiction ever since she was a young girl and fell for Major Don West on television’s Lost in Space. To this day, she still quotes the show, though her favorite lines were spoken by the robot and the antagonist. Parallel universes or alternate realities, aliens or dinosaurs, superpowers or super viruses, time travel or AI… no sci-fi theme is off limits and all of them fascinate her. D.L. Cross also writes other genre fiction under the name Staci Troilo, and you can find more information about all her identities and all her work at her website: https://stacitroilo.com.

Alexa just started reading this one to me a few days ago, and I agree with D.L. – I already know I like Landon Thorne. Love this cover.

I wish I could hear well enough for Alexa or any audio books at all, but alas, I must force myself to sit down in the comfy chair and focus my tired ol’ eyes on written words. (Such torture, eh?) You’ll love the rest of the story, Teri, I’m sure of it! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by this morning.

I’m not a sci/fi fan, but I loved this book. The characters drew me in, and I enjoyed the legends and history–so much research. I’m even rooting for the poor alien locked in his solitary glass prison. Impatiently waiting for book 2:)

Not to worry! I laughed like crazy, because I did something very similar not too long ago. Boy, can I identify with trying to keep names sorted in my brain these days. And I USED to be so good at it. (Guess that could apply to a lot of things, but I’m trying to focus on the ones I’m still good at. 😀 ❤ ) And I don’t know how you manage all the things you do, anyway. You are amazing! ❤

Thank you Marcia… but I may have to resort to doing what my mother did from her late 80s.. call everyone Darling… works a charm…♥♥

I’m going to keep that in mind for my talks. I have a lot of repeat attendees, some of whom come to almost every presentation, and for the life of me, I can’t remember their names longer than about 26 seconds! DOH!! I really love seeing them each time, and meeting the new folks, too, but I’d like it better if I could greet them by name. I just may have to take a page from your mother’s book! 😀 ❤

I’ve been relying on happy smiles, waving when they come through the door, and big hugs now and then. So far, they keep coming back, but I suspect they’re on to me! Especially if they buy a book afterward and I ask them to spell their name for me, and it turns out to be Sue. 😀 😀 😀

Bwaahahahahahahahaha. Love it, Staci! 😀 And I’m really glad we gave you a smile today–even if laughing at another person’s Senior Moments is totally heartless! Still. I’d do it if it weren’t for the fact that the Senior is ME. 😀 😀 😀
