Every now and then, I find a few minutes to create a graphic or two. After I finished with my Christmas sale images, I figured why not do a generic review reminder? One that hopefully won’t be a problem with Amazon, since it doesn’t mention anyone’s books specifically and doesn’t suggest giving a book in exchange for a review. I think this one should be fine. If you have a use for it, please feel to save it. I plan to use it on Twitter, etc, since I want to encourage readers to leave more reviews, period, for any author they like. Maybe this will help. Enjoy!

        • I’ve used PaintShopPro for years, Jaye, as I’ve painted all my life and taught acrylics to beginners for years. Then I advanced from wet painting to digital painting, via an electronic Wacom tablet and pen. (I did custom pet portraits for a long time, until carpal tunnel made it too painful to do the tiny detail work I enjoyed.) So, I’m used to this program, though it’s more than what I need for graphics work, and the occasional bit of digital art. It’s a less expensive version of PhotoShop, basically, and does almost just as much.

          I really miss painting, but old eyes and old joints don’t like me to spend hours doing it anymore, and once I started writing, I realized I didn’t mind. No time to miss what I did in the past, and that’s fine. (That was then, and this is now.) 😀

            • If I live to be a thousand-year-old woman, I couldn’t do all the things I want to do, so I decided a few years ago to focus on the things I still CAN do–and can AFFORD to do–and just enjoy the memories of those I no longer pursue. It works for me, plus, I never say never. For instance, we are getting ready to do a complete overhaul of my studio/Mark’s clock-repair room. It became a cat infirmary for two years for an elderly cat who needed a quiet space of her own. We haven’t been in there much since she passed, BUT that’s about to change. I intend to set my painting table back up again, because I can still dabble. I enjoy painting Christmas ornaments, gifts, etc, and will no doubt do a bit of that. Don’t know if I’ll tackle the digital art again, though, since that’s what really did my arm/shoulder in, but again–I might. 🙂

              In the meantime, I take lovely trips on the river aboard the Naiad eco-tour boat instead of canoeing (which my back no longer likes), and I plant easy-to-care for things in my garden instead of exotic flowers that need too much care (for the same reason), and I write all day instead of painting, to reduce the carpal tunnel stuff. At some point, even too many hours on the keyboard is going to hurt, and when that happens, I’ll book more speaking tours and sell the books I’ve already written. Or find a brand new passion in which to indulge.

              When one door closes, as they say. I’ll just keep opening new doors, and finding adventure in different ways. That’s my plan! Maybe I should write a crazy old lady like that into one of my stories? 😀

  7. Fabulous graphic, Marcia! And many thanks for allowing us to save and use it. It’s perfect for sharing on Twitter and an excellent reminder. I wish it wasn’t so hard to get readers to leave reviews but it does seem to be a common obstacle for most authors.

    • Glad you like it, Mae, and I hope it turns out to be useful. You know, before I started writing, I had no idea that reviews were of any importance at all. I think that’s true of most readers, so I guess it’s up to us to encourage them, if we can do so without stepping over any boundaries. I’ve decided graphics might be a good way to go. So, use away! And keep an eye out for new ones when I can find time. 🙂 Merry Christmas!

I love what you are doing on your website, and have a note to myself to check it out in more detail as soon as the holidays are over and I have some breathing room. I’ll definitely check out (and share) the links above today, though.

      I will be making more, and they won’t all be specific to Amazon, though that’s where you get the most eyes on your book’s reviews, by far, and many readers don’t know that those reviews on Amazon are what moves our books up through the ranks. Hence the mention. But there will be others, too. 🙂

And that would be most of them, I’m afraid. But I figure graphics can’t hurt, and they just might help. If they only spur a few into leaving reviews, it’s worth it. Merry Christmas! 🙂

        • Our reviews even help the Grishams and Rowlings and Kings of the world, too, so I hope to convince more readers to leave them for any book they enjoy. And I’M behind on reviews right now, too, but that’s something I plan to fix soon! I used to have a review blog, but since I can’t keep up with it, I’m going to transfer my reviews to a separate page here, and then continue adding new ones, as I can. Especially for the folks in our writing community that I’ve read and enjoyed! I’d like to get that up and running in a few weeks, if possible, and of course, I’ll post them on Amazon & Goodreads, too. (I can do 27 kajillion things at once, can’t I?) 😀
