Today, I’d like to welcome ME to The Write Stuff. 😀 I’ve run out of reviews from others to schedule this week, so I’m sharing one of my own that I’m especially proud of. Hope you’ll indulge me. (And if you have a new or favorite review you’d like me to share here, please feel free to email me. All instructions are in the link in the Menu Bar at the top of the page.)
But for now, I hope you’ll enjoy this review of A Boy Named Rabbit, and will share far and wide. THANKS!

Rabbit Stole My Heart
By writester on May 15, 2018
Every now and then, an author manages to write a character so distinctive and impactful, he becomes difficult to forget. Sometimes it’s someone inherently evil; other times the character is a beacon of good. But seldom does such a character elevate himself past memorable — to do so is to vault over a rather high bar.
Marcia Meara’s Rabbit is one such character.
I can tell you she’s written another lovely book with a solid plot. I can tell you her settings are vivid and her villain chilling. All of that is true. Yet none of it matters.
I recommend this story because of a little boy named Rabbit who climbed down off a mountain and strode right into my heart.
This is a heart-warming tale of love and family, one that’s sure to tug at any reader’s heartstrings. It’s also a story you don’t want to miss. It’s a must-read.
BLURB:
“Evil’s comin’, boy…comin’ fast. Look for the man with eyes like winter skies, and hair like a crow’s wing. He’s the one you gotta find.”
The remote mountain wilderness of North Carolina swallowed up the ten-year-old boy as he made his way down from the primitive camp where his grandparents had kept him hidden all his life. His dying grandmother, gifted with The Sight, set him on a quest to find the Good People, and though he is filled with fear and wary of civilization, Rabbit is determined to keep his promise to her. When he crosses paths with Sarah and MacKenzie Cole, neither their lives, nor his, are ever the same again.
The extraordinary little boy called Rabbit has the power to change the world for everyone he meets, but can he save himself from the one person his grandparents had hoped would never find him? His dangerous and bittersweet journey will touch you in unexpected ways, and once you’ve let Rabbit into your heart, you’ll never forget him.
Author Marcia Meara
Marcia Meara lives in central Florida, just north of Orlando, with her husband of over thirty years, four big cats, and two small dachshunds. When not writing or blogging, she spends her time gardening, and enjoying the surprising amount of wildlife that manages to make a home in her suburban yard. At the age of five, Marcia declared she wanted to be an author, and is ecstatic that at age 69, she finally began pursuing that dream. Her belief in the redemptive power of love is a unifying factor in both of her popular series and her poetry. Today, she’s still going strong, and plans to keep on writing until she falls face down on the keyboard, which she figures would be a pretty good way to go!

Way to go, Marcia. Sometimes we have to blow our own horns. It’s a terrific review. The story sounds fantastic. Hugs.

Thanks, Teagan! I’ve been sharing some of my reviews as Bonus reviews on Sunday, but since no one was scheduled for today, I thought I’d put this one here, instead. The story seems to be one that my readers really enjoy, and I do know that Rabbit is generally the hands down favorite of all my characters when I ask readers I meet. Hope you get a chance to check out his story one day, and see what you think. 🙂 Hugs back atcha! ❤

What an excellent review! Your first Wake-Robin Ridge book gripped me (in good ways, with the romance, and then with a bit of fear in the scary parts!). I’ve reviewed it on Amazon and Goodreads. I love how we bloggers/authors/readers believe in each other, in our talents as writers, and then follow through with honest and great reviews.

So happy you enjoyed WRR1, Pam. I saw your lovely review (and commented on it under another thread). Thanks so much for that, and I’m very happy you enjoyed the book. I can’t wait to see what you think of Little Rabbit if you get a chance to read that one. He more or less usurped my entire Romantic Suspense series and it’s now something else altogether. Still spooky, with Appalachian ghost stories and legends, but Rabbit is the heart of the series, now. He lives in my head and tells me every word to write down, just as it happened to him. 😀 ❤

Aw, thanks, Mary!! So good to see you here. I’ve been missing you, and it’s all my own fault, because I’m so far behind, I can’t catch up with my favorite blogs. I’m digging my way out, slowly but surely, though, as I wrap up The Emissary 2 and get ready to finish WRR4.
I’m really glad you enjoyed Rabbit’s tale, and I hope to catch up with all the great stuff you’re doing and blogging about REAL soon!! 🙂 ❤

No worries, Marcia. I’m kind of drowning in stuff at the moment, too. I’m working as a museum attendant in the Robert Burns House museum and it’s playing havoc with my life. We can only do so much! But we’ll catch up evenetually 🙂

Oh, what an exciting place to be working, Mary! I’d love to visit one day! (It’s going on my list, right under standing stones and men in kilts. Or was that the other way around?) Yes, we will catch up one of these days. In the meantime, I hope you are enjoying life, even if it’s currently hectic. 🙂 ❤

This book has gotten some lovely reviews, Staci, but yours in particular spoke to why I love Rabbit so much, myself. He tells me the BEST stories! 😀 Seriously, I love that you were so moved by him and his tale. That’s exactly what I was hoping to accomplish when I wrote this one: heart stealing all over the place! 😀 Thanks for leaving such a glowing review. I’ll always treasure it. 🙂 ❤

I’m glad it sounds wonderful, Robbie, and I hope it really IS. I tried my best, for sure, with Rabbit telling me exactly what to write. 😀 Hope you’ll have a chance to read it someday and decide for yourself. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and taking time to comment! Rabbit reckons that’s a pretty nice thing you done there, and I agree with him. 😉

Aw, thanks so much. I would love to know your thoughts when you get a chance to read it. Rabbit is very near and dear to my heart (where he lives, year round, making his unique observations on the world at large.) And I agree, this was a wonderful review! So proud of it! Thanks for stopping by, and hugs back atcha! 🙂 ❤

I remember reading about Rabbit a while ago, and how much I enjoyed reading about him. Pretty sure I reviewed it too…

Rabbit did an interview on Sue Vincent’s blog where he told the folk tale of Boojum and Hootin’ Annie. I’m pretty sure you commented on that, but I didn’t know you might have read the book, too. I can’t tell from the 2018 reviews, or I would have been sure to thank you. ( It’s the second in the series, so you’d probably have read Wake-Robin Ridge first.) At any rate, if you haven’t yet read the whole book, I hope you will. And if you have, I’m very happy, and would love to read your review. 😀 ❤

Way back in 2016, I read and reviewed Rabbit. I thought I had also reviewed it on Amazon, but apparently I didn’t. I was very green back then, and floundering around like an idiot. It occurs to me that many more of our reviews need to be posted on Amazon, as that was the original intent. Our review was originally posted on our site in April 2016, but I can’t find it. I think I have just discovered a yawning hole in my system, shortly to be rectified…

Wow! I never knew about this one, but I’m hoping you can find it! I’d LOVE to see what you thought! And yep, you need to put your reviews on Amazon in order to really help those writers reach more buyers. But first . . . about that yawning hole in your system?? Eeeeep. 😯 Good luck with that! 🙂 ❤

Maybe I was too quick to accept the blame for these missing reviews, seeing as how Amazon are regularly chucking them out of the window… I am on the case though and will post all of them again when I find them!

Good luck with that. Hope you get it sorted out, and not just because of mine. We writers need (and love) them so much! And especially if it’s from someone we “know.” I’d really like to hear your thoughts on the book. 🙂

Thank you. It’s nice to be here! 😀 And I agree, it’s a fab review. As for the sharing of reviews, I was totally inundated for a couple of weeks, but now, it’s mostly caught up. Please do send me another, but it will likely be week after next, because I did get some response to this post yesterday. I’ll take a look at the calendar and let you know the exact date, though. 🙂 Thanks!

Just catching up on a huge backlog of stuff and clawed my way up a mountain of emails to this one.
It’s a wonderful review and chimes with my thoughts on Rabbit, too. Mine’s another heart he stole! I’m sooo looking forward to the next one.

Aw, thanks, Trish. You’ll be glad to know that the draft for the next one is halfway completed. I’m editing The Emissary 2 right now, and should be wrapping that up shortly. Then I can get back to Rabbit’s World, and maybe people will quit throwing rotten eggs at me when I do my local presentations. (That kid’s a favorite!) 😀 Glad you like this review! 🙂 ❤
