#ShareAReviewDay – Maledicus: The Investigative Paranormal Society Book 1 by Charles F. French

This morning’s guest for #ShareAReviewDay is Charles French, and he would like to share what readers are saying about Maledicus: The Investigative Paranormal Society Book 1. When the reviews are short ones, as in this case, I will use 2 or 3, rather than one longer one. Enjoy, and please pass the word along. Thanks!

BLURB:

“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” (Edmund Burke)

Roosevelt Theodore Franklin attempts to make it through life day by day. Roosevelt is a widower, who lost his beloved wife to cancer and a retired history professor, and he has not stopped grieving. Along with his two closest friends, also retired and who have also lost loved ones, the three men form a paranormal investigation group. They hope to find an answer to the question: is there life after death?

When asked by a local teacher to investigate a possible haunting of her house, the group discovers an evil beyond anything they could have imagined. This is no mere ghost. Maledicus, who was in life a pimp, torturer, and murderer during Caligula’s reign in Rome, in death has become a sociopathic demon that attacks the weak and the innocent. Maledicus threatens a five year old child’s life and soul. Terrified by what they have discovered, Roosevelt and his friends must choose to either walk away from this threat , or to do battle with this ancient creature at the potential loss of their sanities, their lives, and their souls.

    • Oddly, Mary, I’ve had very few people tell me it was that scary. For one thing, I don’t do graphic violence. You might know what has happened to someone, but you don’t have to live through it with them. (Eeew, I can’t handle that, either). The central story is definitely a love story in this one. But everything is subjective, for sure. Maybe you can skip right to Finding Hunter. It will work as a stand-alone, though you won’t know the secondary characters as well at the start. There is a lot of drama in that one, but nothing scary at all. Honest. 😀 (You can only get away with ONE serial killer in a town the size of Riverbend, before you have to look for your drama elsewhere. 😀 )

      • Marcia, I was commenting on the review of Charles French’s book Maledicus: The Investigative Paranormal Society Book 1. I wasn’t talking about your book. I love your books, including Swamp Ghosts, which is what you seem to be referring to. I’ll assume the confusion is down to you being besotted by new granddaughter 🙂

        • Hahahahahaha. You are so right. Travel exhaustion, piles of work waiting for me, and an allergy-cold thing going on! DOH!!! Don’t worry. I’ll probably just remove my INSANE comment, and throw myself on your mercy. (I just realized, I didn’t scroll all the way up and thought your comment was under my Swamp Ghosts post from Sunday. Eeeep. Nevermiiiiiiiind.)

AS YOU WERE, FOLKS. Nothing to see here! Nope. Nada. 😀

    • My pleasure, Charles. Sorry I got mixed up back there. For some reason, I thought Mary was commenting on my Swamp Ghosts post from Sunday. Gleep.

I am delighted to share Maledicus with the world at large, and am looking forward to reading it, myself.
