#ExcerptWeek Is Coming Up Again!

It’s here again! Yep, starting Monday, 7/31 and running through Sunday, August 6, it will be #ExcerptWeek here on The Write Stuff. A lot of you know how this goes, but for those who don’t, this is your chance to share an excerpt from one of your published books or a work in progress, with your Book Blurb, Author Bio, Buy Links, and Social Media Links. It’s a great chance to tell everyone why they should buy your book, so don’t miss out!

If you are already a contributing author on this site, feel free to post at will, on any day that works for you. And you may post more than once during the week, though only once a day, please.  If you are not already a contributing author, you will have to email me to find out how to take part. My contact info is in the Menu at the top of the page under About/Contact Me.

Whether or not you decide to participate by sharing one of your own excerpts, we do ask that you share the excerpts of others, please. The whole purpose is for us to help each other get the word out about our books and books-to-be. This is always such a fun time, seeing what others have written, and helping share their work. Hope LOTS of you take part, otherwise, you’ll be reading a ton of MY excerpts! 😀 I do intend to post a couple, but hopefully, there will be so many posted by others, I won’t have to fill in any gaps.

As an aside, I won’t be posting any of my usual features the week, so as to allow lots of space for you guys.

My only restrictions are no political, religious, or erotic content.  If you aren’t sure, email me, and I’ll guide you.

Other than that, have fun! We are all waiting eagerly (dare I say with “bated breath?”) to read your work, and to share it far and wide! Roll on, Monday!!

    • I’m so glad you think so, Debby. I do, too. I love peeking into everyone’s books, and then I enjoy sharing them. It’s fun to pass them along, and hope everyone will garner a few new readers. Can’t wait to see what you’ll be sharing! 😀 ❤

  4. Lovely, Marcia! Time constraints kept me from participating last year but, hopefully, I can rectify that this year. I look forward to seeing what everyone else has to share. Thanks for organizing and hosting!

    • You are very welcome. I love doing this little event. It’s so much fun to see what everyone shares, and then passing it along to help them get the word out. I enjoy it very much, and I’m SO happy to hear you are going to try to take part this time. (Mothman, maybe?????) Can’t wait! 😀 ❤

    • Oh, good! I hope so. This is one of my favorite things, and I try to do it several times a year. It’s overdue, actually, so I’m really looking forward to seeing who participates, and what they have to share. And it is a pretty good way to get your work in front of a few new readers, since everyone has their own “peeps” to pass it along to. 🙂

    • Hmmm. Promoting the book is fine, of course, but if that’s the excerpt you’d really like to share, maybe you could add a disclaimer at the top for those who might not feel comfortable reading it. That way, if they read on and are grossed out, they have only themselves to blame. Hahaha. I will say, you might get more eyes on the excerpt if it isn’t too graphic, but I’m going to leave this up to you. (I’m assuming this dismemberment is post-mortem? If not, then I’d really suggest another passage.) Thanks for asking, Viv.

    • OH, forgot, sorry. I don’t have a hard and fast rule on length. If it is real long, you can use the “Read More” insertion, or I’ll add it after a day or so, on my end. Just so it doesn’t clog up the Home page too much. But I’m going to leave the length up to you guys. 🙂

    • For me, I like to get feedback AS I write. My betas read my draft, chapter by chapter, before I move on, because it helps me see if each chapter is working. And it allows me to make adjustments before I get much farther into the story. So, I think getting some comments on a WIP is a good thing, but I’ll let you decide how you feel about that. If you decide to participate, you won’t need Buy Links, of course, or a blurb, though a synopsis might be good. And your photo and bio, too. Just email me if you’d like to take part. I think it would be fun, myself. 😀

    • It’s always a lot of fun for me, Norah. I enjoy reading the excerpts and passing them along, and I think most of the folks here do, too. Plus, they know they can share their own work, as well. That’s what we do best at TWS. 😀 ❤

  11. Thank you for doing this, Marcia. I’ll have to look back and see what I did last time – don’t want to put the same excerpt up again. I can’t remember if it was No More Mulberries or Drunk Chickens!
