        • Okay, now you have totally made my day! I’m inordinately proud of my covers, I’ll admit. They may not work for everyone, but they make me smile every time I see them. And I have a graphics goddess to thank for that. She happens to be my closest friend, too, which is a very happy coincidence, and which means we are always in total agreement on the covers. I tell her what I’m envisioning, and she gets it, instantly, puts it together, and finds ways to improve on it. And then there’s dancing and cheering and great joy in my heart! 🙂

          Be sure to let me know what you think, when you get a chance to read them. Since I’m a new writer (at an advanced age), I don’t have decades to learn my craft, but my goal is to get better with each book, and I’m working hard on that. Now if I just had an alter ego to take over the self-marketing stuff, life would really be sweet!

          • Aw, see, this is what it’s all about. “They may not work for everyone, but they make me smile every time I see them.” I know, I know…marketing. But you have to LOVE your covers, I think. And there is so much to love about these. B&W is my favorite but with that pop of color – stunning. Not to mention the imagery.
            Most authors get better with each book, even if they’ve been writing their whole lives. Still, looking forward to these and will let you know. 🙂

            • Thanks again, Sarah. On marketing: Yeah, but I followed today’s trend in the marketing of any kind of romance, it would mean having a headless man with air-brushed abs on each of my books, and that just wasn’t what I wanted to say about them. Yeah, I do have a pretty sexy guy in each one, but that isn’t the focus of the whole story, especially in the WRR series, as the addition of Little Rabbit in Book 2 changes the dynamics a lot. Covers should reflect what a particular story is about, I think, and hopefully, mine do.

              The “pop of color” is a wake-robin, which is the wine-red variety of trillium that carpets the forest floor in the North Carolina mountains. The ridge most of the action takes place on was named for it, obviously, and I really wanted that flower on the first book. Now, I wouldn’t consider a WRR cover without it.

              The Riverbend books each focus on a different person or persons in the little town, so the unifying graphic will be the band across the middle, with the title. Above and below will be images that relate specifically to the story. I’m SO excited about the one I’m working on now. That Darkest Place lends itself to all sorts of ideas. 🙂

              AND . . . you heard it here first, folks . . . I’m seriously considering doing a stand-alone book about a minor character who appeared in Finding Hunter. That cover will be something unique to the book, and not to give away anything about the subject matter, but it MIGHT have some wings on it, somewhere. Or not. 😀

              SO many stories to tell, and so little time in which to tell them! I’ll be busy from now until forever, and that’s just how I like it. 😀

              • Yes, well, I wouldn’t pick up a book with a headless man with air-brushed abs. 😉 I love the wake-robin pop of color and also that it ties your series together. I just love everything about those covers.

                Oh! I absolutely love that idea. There are some minor characters in stories I’ve written or even micro fiction pieces that have intrigued me so much I want to write a novella just about them. Keep us informed. I haven’t read Finding Hunter (love that cover, too) but would like to read that stand-alone as long as it doesn’t contain spoilers.

                • I won’t say I’ve NEVER picked up a book with the infamous headless male torso on it, but it’s been done a lot. A. LOT. So they no longer catch my eye, and they usually aren’t the genre I’m looking for, anyway. But they obviously work for lots and lots of readers, so I can’t argue with success. I just knew it wasn’t what I was looking for with my own books. It’s really good to know my covers drew your eye!

                  Nothing in Swamp Ghosts (#1) or Finding Hunter (#2) or even That Darkest Place (soon to be #3) would be spoiled by the stand alone book I have in mind. This character has his own story to tell, and both the tale and the setting would be different from anything I’ve written. SO. If I ever get it done, you may read it at any time, with no worries about spoilers. 😀 But first, I’ve GOT to finish That Darkest Place. I’m way behind where I thought I would be, so I have to write like a thing possessed, now. 🙂
