Loved that! He was so brilliant, so many fantastic, wondrous books. I still think of him as the master of magical realism. Something Wicked This Way Comes is a book I have read over and over, my favorite of his.

That might be my favorite, too. Unless I’m reading one of his other ones, at which time, the one I’m reading will SURELY move into first place. 🙂 He was a genius, indeed, and there was something especially creepy about a carnival that comes to town in the dead of night, with a merry-go-round that goes backward, stealing a year from riders with each revolution. It makes me shiver just to think about it, even now, and I read it when it came out! 🙂 Ray Bradbury: Something Wonderful This Way Came.

Remember the lightning rod salesman? I think Ray Bradbury was the first writer to convince me storms and carnivals could be wickedly creepy. I still have my battered original copy from high school 🙂

He convinced me that LOTS of “ordinary” things could be creepy! Sometimes horrifying. But his science fiction was brilliant, too. Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, and Golden Apples of the Sun come to mind, but OH, so many more, including screen plays, and tv shows. He was truly prolific!

Thanks, Deb. Out of all his many wonderful quotes, this is probably my favorite. It’s just delicious, especially when read out loud. What a gift he was! 🙂
