One more thing before I head to bed. I finally decided to expand Summer Magic by a few more poems and put out a print version, so I asked my cover designer, Nicki Forde, to come up with something that was the embodiment of a magical summer night. When I got to her house today, she had three covers for me to choose from. All of them were beautiful, but THIS one just stole my heart away! It’s everything I imagined, and more! Going to bed now, to dream of dark summer woods filled with fairy lights! *happy sigh*

    • I’d like to think so, and I’m going to add a few new poems before I’m done, and those will definitely have some magic in them, too. As is, the first half of the book is called Mac at Ten, and features poems like “Bruises” which I shared this week, about Mac’s adventures as a boy, camping on Wake-Robin Ridge with his dad every summer. The second half is more varied, and I might share another one from that part tomorrow. This tree looks like it’s home to some magic, doesn’t it? At the very least, fairies live there. I’m sure I’ll write about that! 🙂

    • Thank you, Marie! I’m so in love with it, I haven’t stopped smiling since yesterday! I can’t WAIT to spruce up the contents, and get that printed book in my hands. *happy sigh*

    • Nicki is a Graphics Goddess! She always “gets” exactly what I’m asking for, and then makes it even better. I love her work (and HER!!!) so much I can’t even tell you! How lucky am I that we’ve been best friends since even before I started writing. In fact, she’s the main reason I finally DID. The world needs more Nicki Fordes!! (And she’s a gardening buddy, too. We have so much fun when we can find time to get together.)

    • Thank you, Olga. I’m really happy about this one. I love all the covers Nicki designs for me, but where the others might be haunting or mysterious or even a bit shivery, this one is just unabashedly PRETTY! 🙂

    • Yep, you’ve mentioned it. I think you might be my biggest poetry fan, and I love it! 🙂 So glad you’ve shared and that others like them, too. And you will be very happy with the finished updated book, I hope. I’m writing a few more things, specifically for the new and improved version. AND it’s going to include a poem Hunter Painter wrote for Willow Greene in Finding Hunter. (It’s actually NOT in the book, but it IS on the cover, written in his journal.) So, while Summer Magic will still be a slim volume–a chapbook, really–it will be expanded over the current version. AND it will have this splendiferous new cover! Life is good!!
